For a 5 day getaway on the fly we found Lake Sacandaga at the bottom of Adirondack Park in Northville as a target destination for a couple days. Due to circumstance we were taking the trip without having arrangements in hand, so it was very helpful that Mike was so accommodating and flexible since we gave him almost no notice, especially after our first few thoughts on where we might stay either weren't what we thought or didn't work out. We are really glad we ended up at the Inn. First, it's a lovely old Victorian style house that has been beautifully restored. We ended up in room 3 which was a super unique and cool 2nd floor room in a turret that had awesome lake views in 2 directions. The Inn has a restaurant that operates on the weekends, but since we were there during the week, we couldn't enjoy that, but the breakfasts we great. There is a nice outdoor patio and gazebo where you could enjoy a beverage and some adirondack chairs facing the lake to take in the sights. Northville itself is a pretty small town, but has all of the essentials (a few good restaurants, ice cream shop, a Tops for groceries, a bakery, ect), and there is lots of outdoor destinations aside from the lake for hiking, ect. Just a great two days there. Would surely to back. More...

We stayed for 2 weekend nights so we could attend a family event nearby and think this is the most comfortable accommodation around. The owner/hostess is helpful and friendly and we would stay here again. They had a little trouble with breakfast, a group of about 15 people who were not staying at the Inn arrived for breakfast (which the Inn was expecting) but they scarfed up all the food and we were left waiting about an hour for piece meal replacements (a piece of french toast now, them some eggs, then some bacon - never did get any juice - sort of a deconstructed breakfast buffet). But once they realized our requests for more food were not the result of having gone back to the buffet a few times but rather that we had yet to eat, they were very accommodating and tried to make sure we had sufficient food. Growing pains perhaps? |The room upstairs was comfortable, especially the bed. The bathroom door did not shut fully (we had to jam a towel between the door and the jamb to get privacy) and the shower is quite small. I’m not sure a large person would be comfortable in that shower. Also, perhaps this was listed in the brochure or maybe they told us when we checked in (? I don’t recall that to be the case but it’s possible) but there was no housekeeping service during our visit - so no new towels arrived and we made our own bed. Still, overall, it is a nice place and I would recommend it. I really don’t think you’re going to find something better in the area. We would like to try them for dinner sometime too. Finally, at sunrise and sunset you just can’t beat the view. More...

We are reluctantly wrapping up a three night stay at this fabulous Inn. Lorrie and Michael couldn’t be more welcoming. We enjoyed chatting with them about the restoration of this Victorian gem (which is impeccable) and a myriad of other topics. From the parquet floor in the game room, funky wooden spool chandelier, to our beautiful room with a lake view, everything here is perfect without being fussy. Breakfast is to die for with house made breads, granola and a hot dish each morning. (We can’t decide which was best but the blueberry French toast casserole might have been the winner). They serve dinner and lunch in the dining room on the weekends. Be sure to make reservations you’ll want to have at least one dinner here.
