My husband and I stayed one night. We were a little unsure about staying outside of Ithaca, but it was fine. It’s a short and easy 7 miles to Ithaca. It was well worth the trip. The hotel is beautiful. Our room was huge, clean, and elegantly decorated. Our king size bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Even our bathroom was great. We ate dinner there too. Our daughter joined us. The food was so tasty, full of flavor and not heavy. Even the free breakfast in the morning was much more than we expected. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect! There’s even coffee and water in the hallway outside our room. The fire pit on the patio was a nice touch to have for our evening drink outside. Carl, the really friendly owner, is building an outside fireplace and setting up the grounds to accommodate outdoor parties. I can’t wait to see how this comes out. Another plus is it’s location. Overlooks the river and a short walk to the falls.||This Inn is a real gem!!!! Can’t wait to come back!!! More...

We spent the night at the Taughannock Inn located right next to the Taughannock state park. We stayed in South Lake room and it was so beautiful, nice panoramic views of Cayuga lake , the bed was very comfortable and the shower had a nice water flow, there is a small bar downstairs, and a delicious continental breakfast served in the AM porch room. We also had dinner and dessert in the restaurant , it’s a little pricey but the food was good, small selection on the menu. We would definitely stay there again! More...

I rarely give out 5 stars, but my husband and I had a really great stay, barring a few things. We would come again, and would recommend staying here to anyone looking to get away from the busyness of life/work. The value of this hotel was the best of the places we stayed at on our long weekend trip. We stayed one night at Edgewood, which is a lovely property. If you have mobility issues, book yourself on the second floor, which is level with the parking lot, but the ice machine/chest is on the first floor. If you come on the weekends, the restaurant is open for both breakfast and dinner. But you are close enough to Trumansburg and Ithaca by car that it shouldn't be a big deal during the week.||||PROS:||-The hotel is right next to Taughannock Falls State Park, which you must visit! It's accessible from the front of the main building, where there's a path (though we discovered this only after warily venturing onto the shoulder of the street below). There is a lot of construction going on where the path starts at the hotel so not sure how much longer that will be accessible. Check out a park map. There's more to do in the park and it goes right to the lake.||-The property is clean and beautiful, except for where there's construction at the main house and possibly the house in front of Edgewood.||-Our room rate was really good, and we didn't have any special discounts.||-Our room is very quiet! We could not hear the construction or the traffic from our room with the doors closed. My husband is very sensitive to noises, so this was a pleasant discovery. Our fellow Edgewood guests were also very quiet people. ||-The bathroom comes equipped with plenty of toiletries, a heating lamp on the ceiling, and a slow-close toilet seat (husband really liked this...).||-The room has a Keurig coffee maker, more Keurig coffee cups than I've seen in an individual hotel room, various teas, various sugars, plenty of creamer, free water bottles, a microwave, a mini fridge, a TV, free Lindt chocolates, and a really nice private balcony!||-The blankets are thick and heavy, and the mattress is thick and soft.||-Laundry machine use in Edgewood is complimentary and I believe the soap is included. We did not use this though.||-Dinner was delicious and expertly prepared! The waitstaff were very pleasant.||-The views are very beautiful, both in the dining room and from our balcony.||-Breakfast was delicious and complimentary! It's a buffet setup with yogurt, granola, various fruits, cereal cups, milk, various juices, teas, honey, coffee, bagels/breads/muffins/croissants, jams, freshly scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries.||-Service from all staff we encountered was friendly and welcoming.||||CONS: You'd think there wouldn't be any if I gave it 5 stars, but these are minor things....||-This is more of an FYI than a con, but dinner was VERY expensive...but the ambience and service were great! We also did anticipate that it would be expensive, and the great room rate and awesome breakfast were enough to make up for it, but still, just be prepared! :)||-The main building is undergoing construction, and the side/front area of it is also undergoing construction. I have no idea how this affects people who stay in the main building but I can imagine it would be noisier. The construction project is meant to allow the property to better accommodate wedding parties in the future. More...

I recently attended a wedding in the finger lakes area, (never been there before) at the Inn at Taughannock. The historic Victorian-style Inn has spectacular views of Lake Cayuga, easy access to the romantic Taughannock Falls and is not far from Ithaca, making transportation a breeze. But what made the visit memorable was the staff, who went the "extra mile" to make our visit special. We arrived days before the wedding party so had a chance to stay at the Inn, sample the (excellent) menu (try the Rainbow Salad) while taking a day trip to explore a selection of wineries close by. We were both taken by the charm and warmth of the Inn at Taughannock. As noted by other visitors, the grounds next to the Inn are under construction, but based on the amount of local stone masons working (!) , it looks like it’s weeks away from completion. The centrepiece of this outdoor wedding space is a truly epic outdoor fireplace – maybe 20 feet tall – built by local masons without mortar. As for the wedding itself (the ceremony was next to the waterfall), it was a great occasion, despite a bit of rain near the end. All in all, a lovely spot for both a wedding or a romantic weekend getaway! More...
