Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
In order for your company to grow it must have timely, relevant information about it's finances.
An accountant can make sure your books are balanced and all accounts are reconciled so reporting is accurate.
Auditing for errors/omissions or fraudulent activity is paramount to the services provided.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people get control of their company's future by producing reports on which they can rely. But, I especially love teaching business owners how to use Quickbooks software so they can are in control of their own ship.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was in college in 1986 in the Silicon Valley when computers were becoming a household appliance. I was working on my accounting degree. Many of my friends had small businesses and were doing all their accounting by hand which meant free time on nights and weekends did not exist. Their husbands wanting to help would bring home computers (the latest thing) with an accounting program fully loaded. I would get a phone call saying, "BJ are you still taking those computer classes at the college?" or "Do you know how to turn it on?" and my business was born from helping these people. It was so gratifying to teach them how to use whatever software was on their computers. In time I grew to prefer Quickbooks for it's ability to customize reports and for the ease of use.

I like making a difference by helping people to get control of and grow their businesses. I have been teaching Quickbooks and bookkeeping in the Carson City area since 1992. I have done tax preparation so I understand what the tax professional needs at year end to do a return quickly. I am not interested in doing tax prep but thoroughly enjoy working with CPAs who have bookkeeping challenges at tax time.
