What makes a great website is the relevance it has to its visitors, and whether that is value-add. Without question, sites need to be professionally designed in terms of functionality, navigation, readability and value-add content.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The questions we ask of clients prior to starting a new project depends entirely on the project itself and what the client is looking for.
If it's simply launching a new website, our queries will focus on themes, objectives, timelines and desired outcome. For example, we may ask for color and font preferences or whether the site will be conducting e-commerce and taking payments on the site itself, or via a 3rd party vendor such as PayPal. We'll also ask if they have existing digital content and images and WHO our contact person will be with them.
If it's marketing or SEO related, we have a standard Marketing Survey that we ask our clients to complete, in order to set a baseline, as without baselines, it's impossible to measure results.
