I've been a member for over three years and can't imagine going anywhere else. Top notch coaching, a facility that houses all the equipment needed for strength sports, and a super friendly, supportive community - what else do you need?

What a gem! Was in the area and all the CF we're doing Murph and I just wanted to squat and sweat a bit. Happened upon this place on yelp and so glad I did. This gym has it all: Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, strongman, cf equipment, mats, etc. and Chris, the owner, seems like one of those guys who knows way more than you realize, and you realize he knows a lot, so that's impressive. (And he looks like Christian bale, so that's pretty amazing, too). If I lived here, I would train here full time. More...

This training center in my opinion is among the best in Richmond Virginia.  The owner is a very receptive, honest, and genuine man that will provide a safe and nurturing environment to grow in.  I have been able to rehabilitate my back and plan on continuing my growth there.  He offers a facility to train in strongman, olympic weight lifting, powerlifting, and over all fitness.  There is a huge mat where you can stretch out on with ropes to climb and rings to play on (take your shoes off though when on the mat please).  The culture is a supportive and nurturing one that allows all sexes, colors, or nationality to train.  I appreciate diversity and am pleasd to have found my home away from home.  Keep up the good work and I look forward to my continued growth at The Weight Room. I'm not a weight lifter but visiting this facility, it is a straight to the point weight lifting facility. It is very spacious and the Old Dominion Classic 2017 is being held here. (It is my reason for visiting).

I've been training at The Weight Room (TWR) for about 2.5 years.  When I found TWR, I was looking for a place where I could train hard, use chalk on my hands for deadlifting, and get away from the fitness club scene of half gym, half nightclub. What I found in The Weight Room is a truly unique training environment.  While there are some really strong dudes (and girls) and talented athletes, that is NOT the focus of the Weight Room.  The focus (in my words) is to have an unbelievably supportive and completely douchebag free environment, crossed with world-class coaching.   From an equipment perspective TWR has everything you could want to get stronger, faster, fitter, leaner, etc.  TWR has 5 Olympic Weightlifting platforms, 4 power racks, all the Strongman equipment you could ever want (Atlas stones, huge tires, farmers handles, axels, logs, sleds, etc.), dumbbells up to 150s, glute-ham raises, cardio equipment, etc. etc.  In all honesty, the facility itself is somewhat intimidating at first look.  However, when you meet the people, you'll find that they are the nicest and most supportive group you've ever met at a gym.  If you need a spot, a technique tip, or advice in general, someone is always happy to help.  There are no mirrors at TWR, so you don't get a lot of tank tops and flexing in mirrors.  There's no posturing, everyone at TWR is on the same team, wanting to see each other meet their own personal goals.Sincerely, Chris Lynch More...
