Imagine Recovery is doing Intensive Outpatient (IOP) the way it should be done. The program is well thought out and it's clear that patient care is the highest priority. I recently took a trip out to the New Orleans area and stopped by Imagine Recovery. I hadn't planned on the trip so my visit was nearly unannounced. My purpose was to share with them about my sober house and to learn about their program. I tell you this so that you understand my visit couldn't be staged like so many other visits I've had over the years visiting facilities. I have been in the drug and alcohol recovery field for nearly 15 years and seen many variants of IOP programs. Felicia and her team have clearly taken all the bits and pieces that other programs have done well and included them ALL into theirs! Its very exciting to see that there is finally a program in New Orleans that is doing what it takes at this level of care to help their clients far beyond what has become the standard. There are tons of IOP programs in Louisiana to choose from, but they are not all created equal. I can count with my fingers how many have dedicated clinicians (who care) and offer truly individualized services to the patients needs. The treatment industry, now, is suffering. The public is looking askance at it. Unsavory individuals have taken advantage of the sick and suffering alcoholic and addicted, the chemically dependent and the dually diagnosed for the sake of profit. We haven’t looked good in the media lately. Then there comes along a treatment program, Imagine! I walked through Imagine this week and felt the quiet, the calm, the focused effort of a few professionals that are actually lovingly committed to walking with their clients into that healing space we call recovery. There is bright art and warm color, the hum of city noise just present enough to remind me that Imagine is in a community. This is behavioral health treatment as it should be. The creators of Imagine, Felicia and Christopher, are parenting this project to grow, to develop, to serve this community with education, healing therapy, and most of all love. More...
