Service began with being promptly seated at reservation time. Our server Matt, took drink orders and introduced the menu and specials. This restaurant offers among the best wines by the glass available. The lightly breaded and seasoned calamari appetizer was fresh and tender. I enjoyed a seasonal special, butternut squash and marscapone ravioli with roasted walnuts in a semi sweet butter sauce that just amazing. It reminded me of dining in Milan a few years back. The bread pudding dessert was a fine finisher. The service throughout our meal was attentive without being intrusive. Our party of five spent almost 2.5 hours enjoy a relaxing family meal. The agnolotti was superb! The servings were gracious. I think I took home more than I ate, so I got to enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day. Marcello was our server and could not have been more attentive, kind, and informative. I have eaten catered meals from Il Giallo many times. They never disappoint. Serena was awesome ! Very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Large open space in dining area- very cool you can see the pasta being made in real time. Caesar salad was some of the best we ever had- crispy artichokes were not all as expected (I think they were the Jerusalem kind), duck angolotti was very good and a unique dish. Great for fall. Food was actually very good and Caesar salad was one of the best I've had in a while. Get the salted anchovies!!  Only complaint was it was very, very noisy and would be nice if they sectioned off the larger tables of 8-10 people.

We have always loved dining at il Giallo. Their pasta is made in the restaurant before our eyes so their many pasta dishes are very fresh and delicious. Other entrees, like their fish brazzini and veal scaloppini, and also their salads are outstanding. Of course, we can't leave without one of their pastry chef's sinful desserts, her cheesecake being one of our favorites. Their service is impeccable and their prices are very reasonable. We had a wonderful date night here.This was such a quiet and tasteful setting for a nice romantic night out.The food and the service were spectacular. We started with the roasted cauliflower and the kale salad. For our entrees, we didn't step out too far from tradition with my wife's lasagna and my spaghetti and meatballs.Everything was outstanding including the focaccia bread with oil and vinegar.Portions are generous and everything was flavorful!Our waiter Cole was top notch- super friendly and knowledgeable. Took a chance and tried a new spot! I was craving Italian. We enjoyed the drinks! Both the Caesar salad and featured caprese salad were great. The lasagna was good. I would like to see a more traditional version with bolognese sauce. Their version features beef short rib. Though good, it left me longing for a traditional Italian red sauce. My friend ordered the risotto of the day. It came out luke warm and not cooked properly. Such as shame as we were celebrating her birthday. The chocolate cake and bread pudding desserts were great. I've always loved the house-made pasta at il Giallo, but I have a new crave-worthy dish that I'll be thinking about until I come back!  I had the grilled Nort Georgia trout for dinner last night and it was delicious.  The trout was perfectly prepared . . . crispy skin on the outside and moist and succulent on the inside.  The trout is served with local shelled peas, blistered tomatoes, and a tasty Vidalia onion jam.  The broth from the tomatoes was intensely flavorful, and my only regret was that I didn't ask for a spoon so that I could savor every drop!  (Of course, I could have used the incredible focaccia that accompanies every meal to soak it up! )This continues to be one of our favorite local places.  Inventive, on-point food, served with care, in a warm, inviting atmosphere. First time. Overall great experience. Food was very good. Most impressive is the overall service and welcomeness they project. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff were very attentive. They moved with a sense of urgency but cool. The level of service was on the that of a Bones or Chops but without attitude or smugness. Very personable and friendly. Just had a real great Italian dinner. The octopus appetizer is to die for and the ceaser salad, definitely not your typical salad. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was very good tasting but came a little dry, so I asked our server Crystal if I could have some sauce and brought some over right away. Took care of the issue. Meatballs were good. At first blush, this stylish, suave, art deco inspired Italian restaurant, with its open kitchen, exposed architecture, and high fashion front walls, make you feel like it might belong on the Amalfi Coast. But one bite of the veal chop parmesan and a fork full of the pasta drenched sauce with a half of a duck meatball speared through the prongs, will remind you that this is as good as any roadside stop on the streets of Calabria, but with that Portofino feel and ambiance. Beautiful scenery, and world-class cuisine, and service like your being taken care of by an Italian village, il Giallo Osteria has become one of the premiere Italian restaurants in the southeast, and the North end better be on their toes, because Hanover Street and Mama DePandi have nothing on these guys.
