How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
There are two main items that has to satisfy the design:
1 - The height between the roof ridge and the floor beam beam has to be long enough to allow the loft conversion.
2 - Floor beams have to be able to carry the live and dead load for the conversion.
3 - Sufficient room required to form for an (access) stairs to the loft.
(On item 2 there may be requirements for structural engineer advise)
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
The work sequence are as follows:
1 - An initial survey to satisfy the design elements.
2- Form an opening to access the loft.
3 - Form temporary access to the loft.
4 - Clear the loft and get the area prepared for construction.
5 - Form opening for window(s) or any other external addition.
6 - Install window(s).
7 - Make good window opening on roof and repair other parts of roof if required.
8 - Carry out first fix M&E .
9 - Form floor and Ceiling.
10 - Form walls including partitions and dry lining
11 - Apply mist coat to walls.
12 - Install plumbings
13 - install bathroom furniture.
14 - Electrical 2nd fix including sockets, etc.
15 - Fix carpentry work including doors.
16 - Install stairs to the loft and make good.
17 - paintings & decoration.
18 - Lay finish flooring, ie: carpet or wood flooring & Vinyl flooring to bath room.
19 - Clean & hand over.
Bathroom could be tiled if required.

A five stories building with Fusion frame resting on combination of ground floor slab and partially first floor transfer slab. The facia is brickworks, rain screed cladding with curtain walling. Rain screen cladding consists of quarry stone with zinc. Curtain walling is combined of windows and glazing panels. The building has two lifts and AOVs in the corridors. The building is staggered creating roofs in three floors with the main roof. Roofs are flat with single ply. Internally all internal Fusion frame are covered by dry-lining with rooms / studios having a bathroom pods in every room except for the disabled and partially disabled room. Every studios is fully furnished with an individual air circulation system fully fire rated.
Project Manager - Uxbridge High School is an existing academy being expanded by an additional music, drama and amphitheatre.

A Design and Build, although it’s a small project but technically challenging one including box in box construction. With steel frame and Polycarbonate panels as cladding with green roofs. Internal partition walls are concrete blocks with acoustic wall panelling / slats and some with plasterboards. The acoustic panelling are combination of Lacquered panelling or plasterboards walling with high lacquered timber panel ceiling. WC and disabled are under a mezzanine floor with an extensive ventilation and air condition system. Externally we have an amphitheatre covered with a canopy with seating area. There is also a decking area in front of a large drama building with a large big Bi-Fold doors opening to an amphitheatre. Extensive, IT, lighting, and sound with security system is being installed. There is also underfloor heating.
