My 22year old B&W speakers stopped working, I found Ian Davies online and with no great hope rang him and oh joy he said he could help. I have an old Denon receiver that had been in my loft for a few years that I wanted to use with my daughter’s turntable. I can 100% recommend Ian’s services. He recently reconditioned a Meridian 551 stereo amplifier and replaced the CD/DVD drive on a Meridian 598 player for me. An excellent job for a very reasonable charge, and a thoroughly pleasant man to deal with. I found an Ariston RD80 Transcription Turntable in my loft that I shamefully discarded in the late 1980's having found the dubious delights of Compact Disc. She was woefully neglected having spent the best part of thirty years in my loft. She cost me a fortune (relatively) in the mid 1980's so I thought she might still have some worth.Some research on the internet revealed that she still is valuable.For whatever reason (I still don't know why) I had cut off the power lead prior to it's loft storage. Clearly she needed a repair and refurbishment.I found Ian Davies on the internet and I'm so glad I did. He truly is a HI-FI enthusiast.He has restored her fully to her former glory for a very reasonable price. Ian responded very quickly to my enquiry and agreed to look at my ancient Pioneer Amplifier for £20.00. There was interference and crackling from various knobs. He anticipated it just needed a good clean & service at an estimated cost of £40-£60 in total so we agreed a drop off time. He thought it would take about two weeks but contacted me within a week to say it was all done. He'd had to replace a bulb so the bill was £45 plus the £20 deposit. Right from my initial phone conversation with Ian, I knew that this was the person I was looking for to repair my 40 year old pioneer tuner-amp. I took my two PA amps to Ian, both of which had faults. Ian checked and serviced both of them. He fixed the faults he found after updating me with the cost and his findings. His attention to detail is excellent and even found a fault with an led that I wasn't aware of. He listened to my diagnosis but took the time to fully check and test the amps. This meant that he didn't need to fit parts or carry out work that was unnecessary. I was quoted the almost the same price as Ian charged for repairing both amps for just diagnosing one by another company. I had a fantastic customer experience dealing with Ian who was the only person who could fix my Cambridge Audio sub. I purchased the home cinema system from Richer Sounds and then phoned them when the sub stopped working (out of warranty). I was told to bring the unit to store, pay £80 to send it to an engineer and then I would be told the repair cost. By comparison when I took the Cambridge Audio Minx x200 subwoofer to ian he not only phoned me with progress (even on a Sunday) but managed to resurrect the unit from the dead for a very reasonable cost. I placed a non working high end CD deck for repair with Ian Davies with the hope that it wouldn't be hugely expensive to repair, The rates were explained to me and I thought very reasonable. I was contacted two days later to say that the unit was repaired and ready for collection. The fault was a small internal fuse blown and so the gentleman serviced the unit as part of the very small fee.
