Choosing a photographer to capture your wedding is something couples need to consider so carefully and we are delighted to have found Ian to film ours.

From the first call and email exchange he assured us that the day was about us and our guests and supported every idea and suggestion with enthusiasm and positivity.

Having been to many weddings ourselves and on the receiving end of a bossy photographer, we were keen that our guests were not subjected to that. Ian was the perfect gent and organised our guests without ever raising his voice or patronising anybody, in fact it felt like he was one of the guests as he glided through the group without fuss often stopping to consider the best angle for his next shot, not that the rest of the guests noticed (I think the word is stealth).

The resulting pictures are of course amazing and a tribute to Ian's dedication, focus, hard graft, commitment and excellent skill. We cannot recommend Ian highly enough.

Ian was one of the first people we booked when we started planning our wedding, we met him at a wedding fair at Norwood Park and loved his style, we wanted a photographer who would really document the day naturally and so we knew instantly that Ian was perfect for us. Ian is so friendly and approachable and wasn’t trying to push us to go with him at all, he loved talking about his work and the passion he has for his job is clear to see. He invited us to his studio to see some of his work, he showed us weddings he had previously done at our venue so we could get an idea of the settings, explained why he takes photographs in certain ways and made us feel completely at ease- it’s like we were old friends having a chat! We were so happy that he was available for our wedding day!

On the wedding day Ian was great, he arrived early to meet us looking very smart. He was soon laughing and joking, sharing stories with my mum and bridesmaids as we got ready, helping to make everyone feel relaxed as he captured that exciting time. The rest of our amazing day went by far too quickly, and we felt like we hardly saw Ian, he blended in with the guests so well. We were sad to say goodbye as he left- much later that night, after the first dance! Ian got the internet link to us so quickly, we were on honeymoon, so it was the perfect setting for us to see all the photographs! We were AMAZED by them! WOW! He captured everything, every emotion of the ceremony was there in the photographs, the excitement, the love, the laughter. We have never seen photographs like it, this capture of emotion continued through all parts of the day: fun with guests, quiet moments just Kris and I, special moments with family, children being cheeky, all captured together. Looking through our album now feels like we are reading a story of our day. We could not be any happier or grateful of all Ian’s hard work and we cannot recommend him enough. Ian was one of the first bookings we made for our wedding (December 2016) as we wanted to make sure he was free for our day as we knew without him our day would be missing something vital! I cannot speak more highly of Ian! His approach of capturing our day in a way that was both unscripted, and spontaneous suited us perfectly. When he delivered the photos, I was amazed at all the elements he had captured, especially given that he only had one shot at everything (we had only very few posed pictures), and that I honestly did not even realise he was there in so many cases. In addition, he was absolutely fantastic to work with. He understood how we wanted our day to be, but more than that, was so personable and caring throughout the entire process. After searching and searching for a photographer who could really capture the emotion of our special day, we ended with a top 3. After meeting each, Ian Bursill stood head and shoulders above the rest. His attention to detail is superb, he expressed a genuine interest in us and listened intently to our wishes. Within minutes we both new that Ian was the one for us. Never pushy, always offering advice based on our wants and needs and he excelled our expectations on the day by subtlety floating around the room, never in the way or bossy as some photographers can be. Ian managed to organise (in a super friendly and calm way) large family shots which are great but the unexpected images, those through a crowd, are simply stunning. From our initial conversation with Ian we knew we wanted him to be apart of our wedding day. We wanted someone who was discreet but could capture all we wanted him to, we have not been disappointed. He has always answered emails and phone calls promptly which caused no stress during the planning stages of the wedding. Ian is an absolute master behind the lens. More than that, he is a truly decent man. Ian shot our wedding back in 2011. When we got our pictures we both beamed with happiness as his images vividly brought all of the emotions of the day back to us. We found Ian through a Google search when we were looking for a photographer for our wedding. We loved what we saw from his website and this was only reinforced by our first meeting. We had visited a few photographers before meeting Ian and ultimately walked out of these underwhelmed by their offering however during the meeting with Ian we couldn't help but be attracted to his passion and enthusiasm! We walked out and our minds were made up. All through the preparation phase prior to the wedding, he was easily contactable, kept in the right amount of contact and more than open to any queries or suggestions we had during the planning phase. He was great during our pre wedding shoot making us feel calm when in front of the camera and preparing us for our big day. During our day, he was brilliant, our guests had only positive things to say and we barely even noticed he was there which is exactly how he explained how he operates during the day, capturing every moment of our special day which we can relive through our beautifully crafted album. His professionalism during the day was great, arriving at the preparation stage of the wedding in the early morning and what was supposed to be until after the first dance, therefore we couldn't have been more shocked to have seen him still taking photos at the venue nearly 2 hours after our first dance capturing further memories of the day. Once the day was over, he invited us over to help build our album. It was noticeable the quality of the software he uses and it was great to have that personal input into the building of our own album. It's always tough choosing a photographer for your wedding day - after all you don't really get a second chance!

I cannot recommend Ian highly enough, we received our photos from him a few days ago and they're wonderful. Everyone we've shown them to has loved them, and they're such a perfect record of the day we remember.

I've had a few comments from guests about how unintrusive Ian was on the day - I've never known someone blend into the background so well. Even in a small room with a few of us getting ready, he still managed to make us forget anyone was taking pictures.

I've been to weddings where the photos became too much a part of the day and felt very "directed". If you want a photographer who'll simply stand back, absorb the atmosphere and create a beautiful record of everything that happens during the day, then you can't do better than Ian. More...

Ian photographed my wedding in March 2008 and he really captured the spirit of the day. We gave him free rein to take candid shots and he exceeded our high expectations - judging from some of the pics, he's got some kind of invisibility device! Ian is a real people person - he took lots of time before the wedding to find out about our needs and he was lovely and inobtrusive on the day. Ian photographed our wedding and worked with us from months before-hand up until when we got back from honeymoon to make sure that we got all of the snaps that we wanted and that we were happy with his work. Ian photographed our wedding in August 2007 in Cambridge. We were incredibly impressed with Ian's preparation, style and our final album. We met with Ian before our wedding and discussed the plan for the day, the type of pictures we wanted and the setting. This was invaluable and enabled Ian to ensure that he had special lighting equipment to take photographs in the candlelit hall where we<span id="moreReview25360" class="hide"> had our evening meal and riverside shots of our departure at night. <br /><br />We asked for a few traditional group photographs but really wanted natural journalistic shots capturing and telling the story of our wedding day. Ian's style was entirely unobtrusive and our guests later told us that they did not notice most of the photographs being taken. We did not want to have a photographer who dominated the proceedings and limited the time we could spend with our guests - Ian ensured that this did not happen. <br /><br />Ian involved us throughout the design of the album and was happy to make the small changes we wanted and to remind us of the various options available. We actually chose to extend our album by an extra ten pages so that we could show the photographs off to their best effect. The ease of ordering additional pictures to frame or give as presents was also appreciated. <br /><br />Our photographs are spectacular and really distinctive. Ian has an excellent eye for framing the images and selecting shots which are fresh and exciting. Some of our photographs are truly world class and our friends continue to congratulate us on them.</span> More...
