ICARE is such an incredible rescue. They always do whatever is best for the dogs they take in. Because they are foster based they are able to know a lot more about each dog and what would be the best fit— they try their best to place a dog with the right people. They are an honest group who lets potential adopters know as much information as they have on any dog — even if that means telling someone they’re not the right fit. They also take in a lot of dogs who need extra care medically. They’ve got a network of great vets and then fosters willing to help rehab them. It’s amazing to see so many dogs get a second chance and go on to live happy, healthy lives. If a dog needs extra help behaviorally they work closely with trainers and are always willing to put in the extra work. This group puts everything they have into saving dogs and finding them their furever families. They’re a caring, trustworthy, and just all around wonderful group of people. More...

iCare is an amazing rescue who truly cares and are passionate about what they do! I have been a foster for iCare and the ladies who run the organization are organized, clear with instruction, and available for contact 24/7. I see how much they truly care about the dogs, and about finding the right home for them. They are extremely thorough, as you cannot take a dog home right away. Adoption requires an application and home check. Every dog has different needs, with a different history! The ladies have been kind with making my foster dog vet appointments on my behalf, providing me with food and toys, and answering my questions throughout the day. I would highly recommend this rescue to anyone. More...

We are in north San Diego county, and they were wonderful working with me despite the distance. I was very familiar with Jakes breed, and having lost both my dogs last due to their age . It has taken me a bit of time loosing both my furry babies in 6 months last year. I was not the first home chosen for Jake. But I feel it was meant to be. He's only been with us for a week and I can't imagine life with out him. The ladies have been so supportive in the transition. Thank you so much and I highly recommend this rescue More...

I'm shocked to see such negative reviews. My experience was the exact opposite. It's clear they care so deeply about the dogs and would like to find the perfect match. Also shocked to see someone complain about the price when the dogs come vaccinated, fixed and microchipped, not to mention the price is disclosed on the application- no surprises there. Additionally, I donate more than the asking amount to multiple animal rescue charities so considering the work they do and all the fosters that support these puppies, I think it's more than reasonable. Lastly, I adopted a dog from them and couldn't be happier about the entire process and match. They have also always been responsive to my email and communication and I couldn't say anything negative if I tried. I've already recommended them to all my friends. If I had a bigger home I'd also foster for them if i could. If you're thinking of rescuing, please understand that it is the organization's objective to pick the best and most suitable homes for some of these dogs that have been left behind or sometimes abused. Don't take offense when you are not chosen and please think about the benefit to the rescued dog; after all, this is for them to find a home that is the 'best fit'. The best fit may not be a home with children or other pets or maybe someone with better answers to some of the questions. In my opinion that doesn't warrant a poor review for a place that is doing so much good for these fur friends. More...

Right now,our family chose the cutest puppy,Harlow, to hopefully, make her part of our family. So, please, when you choose one of their beautiful pets, don't get put off or impatient as you fill the adoption appication. Love this rescue! I have been donating money and supplies to them for years. I had my legal limit of adopted pups for many years, but when the time came to open our hearts and home again when we lost our seniors, I knew I would be adopting from them. We adopted our dog, Pearl, from them and couldn't be happier. They really take the time to make sure it is a good fit for both your family AND the dog. They allowed a careful and thoughtful introduction of Pearl to our other recently adopted dog and made sure it was a good match for all involved before anything was finalized. They answered all of our questions and provided all medical records. Pearl was so well socialized and clearly well cared for when we adopted her, which I know is a far cry from her past prior to rescue, where she was left in someone's backyard completely neglected. They have such wonderful fosters who provide the love, comfort and socialization needed for the dogs that they rescue. I can't say enough good things about their team. I just adopted a puppy from I C.A.R.E Dog Rescue and she is the most loving and sweet dog I've ever had. The process was longer than some other rescues and shelters, but the quality of service and care they provide their animals is extremely high. When I visited their dogs during an adoption event at a local PetSmart, none of the dogs had any major behavioral issues and they were so well-behaved. Of course some dogs were shyer than others, but there was minimal barking and you could tell that all the dogs received exceptional love and care. These dogs had a lot of trust with humans and were well-groomed and fed.The adoption fee for my dog was $350 because she was 6months of age. Her shots were all up-to-date and she was already spayed. She did have a problem with some very severe tear stains. Unfortunately, because she's lived with them for so long, the vet told me it'd be a while for them to clear up. So far, the vet has not been able to find a permanent solution for her tear stains, but I'm hoping within the next month, we will at least know exactly what's causing them. I don't expect a shelter or rescue to resolve cosmetic issues in a dog as these are costly and extra to a dog's health, so this wasn't really a problem for me when I adopted her. I just really appreciate the fact that this rescue takes such good care to provide necessities and basic training to their dogs. My puppy was house-trained and barely barks/growls. She's extremely active/hyper and only growls during playtime. It's a full-time commitment to be a puppy mom, and honestly I'm barely sleeping in 4hr intervals, but I'm really happy I decided to adopt her. To those that complain about the adoption process, yes it's difficult to get accepted. It took me about 6 months of searching on adoptapet.com to finally find the perfect puppy. During those 6 months I filed a total of 11 applications to different organizations. Some rescues gave me no emails back, others emailed me back and put me on a waitlist, others told me they wanted me but once I met the dog I realized it wasn't a good fit, etc. I was getting discouraged about finding a puppy that fit my needs, but it wasn't until I found and saw Toast in person that I knew she was the only one for me. There's many reasons for a group to accept or deny you. Don't take it personally; every group and dog is different. Just because one accepts you doesn't mean the others will. It doesn't matter how much of a Samaritan you might be, as disheartening as it is, you need to realize that they are trying their best to find a furever home for their dogs. It's normal for adoption groups to ignore emails because they get so many on a daily basis. Just remember that this IS a rescue not a shelter, so the process is certainly more difficult than same day adoptions from shelters. You need to be patient. But with that you can also be sure you will be receiving a dog who is more well-behaved and sociable than those from a shelter alone. A lot of rescue groups don't update their website and social media, but I C.A.R.E's website is regularly updated and makes the adoption process so easy and self-explanatory. Trish, Michelle, and Cindy were all extremely helpful and welcoming to me during the adoption process and answered all my questions in a timely manner. They are all busy with their own jobs but give their time to be a part of this great service. I honestly appreciate everything they do. Thank you I C.A.R.E. for offering me such a great experience! Many thanks to iCARE for helping us find our new member of the family. I know many negative reviews remarked on the lack of response or the lengthy process. However, my family's experience has been the opposite. Here was our adoption timeframe:Monday - emailed the organization about a specific dog we were interested in. Received a response 3 hours later with the application attached. I then completed and submitted my application. Please note I also sent follow up emails to ensure receipt and I received both an automated and direct response Thursday - Received a call about my application; adoption rep asked some clarifying questions. Spoke with foster parent that evening to ask more specific questions about the dog (Dog was neutered in the morning)Friday - Met foster family and our potential dogSaturday - Home visit. Rep brought along the dog. Since there were no issues, we were set to adopt and keep our dog on this day! So how did we get so lucky? First of all, please keep in mind that ICARE is in the business of finding the right home and living situation for their rescues - and not about finding the most attractive pet for the human. Who doesn't want a cute, little puppy with big, brown eyes. Realistically, novice dog owners soon learn that a puppy or a high maintenance breed is not what they had bargained for. ICARE wants to make sure that this does not happen again to second chance dogs. This is why the application is 7 pages. After all, you are finding a new member of your household. As my husband commented, you wouldn't necessarily marry the first person you date. So why would you think that 15 minutes with a pup is enough to determine if he/she is the right fit? So my second point is to be thorough with the application. Generic answers do not reflect a potential adopter's level of commitment nor determine the right match. I spent 1.5 hours on mine. The entire process made me really think about the finer points and realities of dog ownership. The application is designed to make you think things through. I know it propelled me to do additional homework. I know it's frustrating to complete an application and not get a response. However, they don't ding you if you follow-up yourself. Overall, my gratitude goes to the foster family who was supportive through the meet and greet process and who continued to answer my questions even after the dog was in my care. It is through the labors of these kindhearted folks who make saving doggy lives possible. I know after our dog left their house, they were getting ready to take in another rescue. 5 stars are simply not enough when it comes to ICARE Dog rescue.  In reading many of the negative reviews I don't think the people fully understand what this amazing organization does. The organization is run by VOLUNTEERS, so if an email is not promptly answered I am sure it has to do with the volunteers being busy, it's not that you are being ignored.  Another stated that the dogs are adopted to the people that foster them, I disagree with that as well. I have adopted from ICARE personally, I have several friends who have adopted from ICARE, so to say they only adopt to their own group is FALSE !!  The foster humans bring the foster dogs to events on their own time. Again, one needs to remember that they are volunteers and schedule around their own personal lives. As for the dogs they have saved. ICARE has done amazing things with puppies (and other dogs too). They scoop them up without having fosters in place knowing how important it is to save a life. They spend huge amounts of money on puppies that come down with Parvo and rarely do they lose a dog to this dreadful disease. They take in animals with other medical conditions, animals that were recommended for euthanasia only to watch that beautiful puppy or dog grow into a thriving animal and transition into it's forever home. ICARE educates people about the IMPORTANCE of spay/neuter for dogs. They will take in a litter of puppies heading for the shelter and assist families in getting the parents fixed. This organization is by far one of the best if not the best rescue group around. The volunteers are very kind and always doing what is best for their dogs. More...

The best rescue I have ever worked with, volunteered for, fostered for and adopted from! ICARE truly has each dogs best interest in mind. I see a few of the lesser rated reviews posted and it seems like these people were more disappointed in not getting the dog they wanted than of the actual rescue group.
