Great kids playground with wheelchair friendly area. Spacious grass area for running around and playing games. Very nice secret garden great flowers and relaxing area to sunbathe. Toilets near cafe are better maintained than toilets near playground. Take tissue in case. On weekends lots of weddings are booked. But have still managed to find a park ok More...

Great place to take the kids. Vast fields, good for dog walking. Beautiful gardens, vibrant and multi sensory, great for ASD, with a duck pond in the middle. Ample parking. And a large wooden play area, with plenty to explore and tire the kids out (and the parents). The House is well presented and elegant and great for weddings and functions. They have access to toilet facilities, a couple of cafes and a shop in the centre near the house. We never leave without having a ping pong session too More...

If you live in Essex, this is a must visit place. Approximately 574 acres of restored historic parkland, it is free of charge, including ancient woodlands, grassland, ponds, lakes, Hylands house and formal gardens. After a long walk you can pop in to the local cafe and have a lovely cup of coffee or tea. Also it’s dog friendly! What can be better? Can’t beat that. More...

Hylands House itself is a masterpiece. Beautiful garden. The Stable café is pretty grotty. The service is poor, the food is very ordinary. It's scruffy and unwelcoming and on the day we went it closed at 4 which we felt was unacceptable. Perhaps a good quality cream-tea and some "with it" serving staff might pep the place up! The shop is okay but uninspiring - change your buyer! It's also cramped with too much "tat". More...

Haven't been here for many years the last time it was derelict it is fantastic to see what they've done to bring it back in to period. We had a guided tour that was very interesting, the parking is free at all times although people still queue, in the old stable block there is a tearoom a little on the expensive side but it is a captive audience. The grounds are vast you don't have to walk far to be away from the madding crowd.
Away from the house towards the other car park there is a adventure playground for children and possibly rides in a horse drawn buggy back up to the house on a nice afternoon allow two-hour

Hylands house is a lovely events venue. The staff are quite supportive and very helpful before and during your event. They listen to your views and try to accommodate them as much as possible. The grounds are fabulous with lovely views for pictures. Although using the venue can be pricey, you can get lovely and memorable pictures inside the house. Good for weddings especially during summer time. There is ample parking for guests and the toilet facilities are very decent. More...

Absolutely brilliant day at the flower show. So many lovely stalls. Plenty of disabled parking but you must get there early! After 10 the car park was full. Lovely cafe in the courtyard. Such a beautiful house Hylands Hall. Loved every minute. Take a cool bag because they sell meat products. Take a fold up chair. More...

House only open on Sundays but you can peek through the downstairs windows. Courtyard cafe changed hands recently to a slightly bigger company so the more homestyle food has gone a bit more packaged but it's still good, they also sell ice creams. The left hand side outside eating area accommodates dogs.
There is a sweet 2nd hand book shop run buy friends of the house and a reasonably priced gift shop. Also local artists studios who run experience days. Carriage rides around the park are well worth doing also.

This is a fantastic place. You get free admission to the gardens, which are extensive. There are tons of places to take photos, so it's a wedding/engagement photog's dream. The shops in the old stable buildings are all really nice and have interesting things, especially the used book store. More...

Beautiful building which is always kept in pristine condition!

I like to this of it as our version of America's White House.

Right next door is the Stables Centre where you can have reasonably priced drinks from the cafe, and visit one of the craft centres around the grounds.

The park is always well kept and is always lovely to visit in the summer with the family.

love visiting Hylands House/grounds. Excellent dog walking in the extensive park. Nice cafe to have a light lunch and a coffee. I would have awarded a five star, however, dog walkers do not have an indoor or covered area to eat/drink, also the toilets are in an area you cant take your dog....so lone walkers have a real problem!(I refuse to tie up my dog and leave her unattended.) For this reason I have also been unable to visit their courtyard gift shops. More...
