It was nice to speak with someone freely and with the intent of helping you uniquely with the concerns you’re having.

Q&A

I love it that people give me the honour of helping them to feel better about themselves. To help them travel through their emotions, looking to to create a world that truly empowers them. When I see a client for the last time, I am proud of the work they have done and excited for their future.

My family inspired me to go back to working in mental health after a long career in the Building industry. I wanted to offer people an alternative to mainstream services. I felt that some people were still struggling after long periods of time without getting results. I witnessed this in my own family, having a son who was in the Mental Health System for decades without much in the way of results. I saw a need to be able to offer a personalised results-driven service.

You will be provided full confidentiality throughout your treatment. I have compassion and empathy for the experiences of my clients. My goal is to work closely with them to help them achieve their goals. I am dedicated to ensuring patients are treated with dignity throughout their treatment and fully involved in the development of desired outcomes throughout the plan.
Changing a behaviour starts by changing the thoughts driving this behaviour. The counsellor and the client work together using talking therapy and other types of activities to consider new perspectives and better, more effective coping mechanisms.
There is no way to predict what may happen next in life, and often changes occur that seem overwhelming and difficult to manage. These types of changes or events may be deeply personal, such as the loss of a loved one, or they may be directly related to behaviours that have the potential to cause harm - or may have already caused harm. You will be encouraged to put in the work to receive results quickly.

NLP is a method of reprogramming your nervous system through language. NLP is about away increasing choices… we learn by acting and experimenting not by thinking about it. NLP is a communications model; a methodology, a set of tools, models and techniques to help a person communicate more effectively with themselves and with other people. In essence, to manage their thinking, feelings, speech and behaviours in a way that serves them and honours everyone else.

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. Emotional intelligence is generally said to include at least three skills: emotional awareness, or the ability to identify and name one’s own emotions; the ability to harness those emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving; and the ability to manage emotions, which includes both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary and helping others to do the same.

Time Based Therapy is a clearing of the negative emotion. Memories of past events can often share a similar emotional loading e.g. Anger. Neurologically there are effectively a series of events with a specific origin connect like a chain, and a memory of one angry episode can easily bring up other similar memories. Ever been angry with someone over something and as you were thinking and angry thoughts your mind presented you with a host of their other past indiscretions and you got angrier still? This incident has effectively fired off a Gestalt. The purpose of TBT is to maintain the memory whilst removing the emotional loading. This results in dissolving the Gestalt and the negative energy that is stuck in the system. This provides the individual with a real sense of relief, and effectively an emotional “clean slate” it does not mean that the person will not be able to experience these emotions again, it means that they will not be dragging their negative emotional history to every current event.

Counselling services can help determine how influences from the past, as well as current issues, allow negative or harmful behaviour to continue. By discovering the cause of incorrect or harmful thoughts it is possible to change not only the perception of them, but also any resulting outward behaviour.

The goal of psychotherapy is not for the therapist to tell the client what needs to change, but rather for them to assist with personal growth and the development of understanding. During this process, the psychotherapist asks questions and responds to the information provided by the client, to allow this self-discovery to unfold naturally. Psychotherapy has been shown in research studies to be effective in helping people struggling with addictive behaviours, eating disorders and issues with trauma. It can also be used by clients trying to cope with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxieties and depression, or for the treatment of individuals who engage in self-harming behaviours or are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Grief, relationship problems, anger management and diagnosed mental health issues such as Obsessive-Compulsive disorder lend themselves to being treated through psychotherapy.
