Huffman K9 Obedience

I decided to wait until I finished my 10 pack to write a review in order to make it as accurate as possible. This business knows their stuff. I adopted a shelter dog and knew he was aggressive when I brought him home... but didn’t know the extent of the aggression until I tried introducing him to my family. About to give up hope, a friend recommended Huffman to me. I called them and asked them 100 times if they think my dog could change because I was hopeless. I noticed a difference in him after just the consultation!! And WOW Jensen is a wealth of knowledge and is AMAZING at coming up with analogies to help understand better. Their other trainer, David, is just as great and both these guys are just overall easy to be around and work with. I actually became sad knowing that I wouldn’t get to go see them after my sessions were over. Which is why I’m going to buy more!! Where to begin...we highly commend these trainers for an amazing service they offer to our dogs, but even more importantly, to us as dog owners. Huffman was one of several training options that we were looking into for our dog. After the first meeting with Jensen, even my very skeptical husband agreed that this place was a great opportunity. We decided that it would be worth it to get the 10 session package and I’ll tell you what... it was worth EVERY penny. We learned so much about our dog and ourselves, and the 10 sessions flew by. Every session was such a valuable learning opportunity and we left feeling so accomplished. We worked with both Jensen and David, and they were fantastic. Their honesty, dedication, and passion towards this work is so obvious. Their methods are legitimate and have given my husband and I a great foundation for building skills for ourselves and our dog. In the end we had built an incredible amount of trust with our dog and it’s made such a difference. I do not write very many reviews, but from the moment I contacted Jensen at huffman k9, I felt very confident in investing in the training that they would provide. Is it cheap? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I brought my puppy to them on the recommendation of my vet. I was looking not only into obedience training, but also protection work. They simply asked what were my expectations, built a training program around what I asked for, and worked with not only my puppy, but with me. I can honestly say that through their training, I have learned more about myself, and working with them and my dog has made me a stronger, more confident dog owner. I don’t know if there are words on how to explain how absolutely amazing these trainers are. From day one I knew I pick the right place. They are so helpful and make sure you understand everything they train you on. Any question you have they answer and show you to make sure you know how. The love they have for this job shows everyday. Seeing how my dog Grows everyday with amazing Obedience and watching her do the things I never knew dogs could do was the Best experience. They are the premier K9 trainers on the west coast as far as I am concerned. In 5 lessons I cannot believe the changes in our dog. He is a rescue dog-sweet but had some issues being territorial aggressive with me and my wife. He wouldn't let me go in her office if he was in there. My 1yr old GSD has had one lesson with David. A huge difference is just Madison’s leash walking. We have been walking side street but I live in Gresham on a 5 lane road. We walked all the way .4 miles down to coffee shop and back and she never weaved from the walk. Right next to me no pulling nothing. We have been working with Jensen and David for 3 sessions. We have 7 more to go. In just 3 sessions, our pup, Piper, has become a new dog. She was very aggressive, and fearful, and we did not feel comfortable taking her anywhere. We definitely wouldn’t keep her out with guests we had over. We saw her potential, but had no idea how to “fix” her. She is smart and eager to learn, but we were ill equipped. Jensen does not train the dog; he trains the human. I am now 100% confident in my ability to handle Piper in most situations. Her behavior improves daily and her focus and trust in me is incredible. I can now take her to busy parks (on leash always) and she doesn’t even pay attention to other people or dogs. She’s focused on me, the commands and calm(er) in herself and environment. Jennifer and Jensen are very knowledgeable and helped us to be on the right path to where we wanted our 7 month old cattle dog to be house trained and obedient. I would give 5 out 5 stars every time and would recommend service to anyone. Our pup (Dory) is deaf in both ears and is now 11 1/2 years old and there is nothing we could ask more for then how trained and obedient she is. My dog was transformed by the second session! My labradoodle was pulling on the leash, jumping on people and counter surfing. He now stays quietly by my side, walks in a harness, lays under my feet for hours, and follows my commands. In 2 weeks time he has successfully made it thru a movie, two airports and two flights, two trains, several Uber’s, a horse show, several restaurants, a beach, a hotel and even on a ferry ride! Jensen and his crew are awesome. We did a short board and train followed up with some private lessons and had a chance to work with Jensen, David and Jen. All of them have been great to work with and each worked with all members of our family to ensure we were all on the same page and understood the correct approach and follow-through. In the past we've used other trainers both private and group but none of them hold a candle to Huffman K9. Jensen, David, and Jenny have made such a difference in my American Bulldog puppy. He has anxiety and fear based aggression with strangers and dogs. He has come a long way since his first lesson, he sits quietly while I talk to strangers, and will tolerate dogs without reacting. My wife and I brought our puppy here out of desperation. Not that our puppy was a bad puppy, but we were first time dog owners and no amount of advice of tricks we used helped us with the behaviors we were facing with our pup. The biggest problem was the amount of biting she was doing. We have 5 kids and she broke skin on the all of the kids multiple times a day. Within 2 weeks of bringing her home, our 5-year-old began cracking his bedroom door open in the morning to ask my wife and I if the dog was out. So, my wife made an hour and a half drive to Huffman K9 Obedience and saw a response from our puppy immediately! We spent the next 6 weeks with weekly appointments and I now enjoy our puppy. We took our baby boxer there today for her assessment and a quick little training. All I have to say is NIGHT AND DAY!!! Every time since we’ve been home that I do what I was told as well with my puppy, she does what I ask! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the training sessions will do!!! When I took my girl on a walk today there was no leading, wandering or sever distractions. It takes consistency and I’m up for it because I see what two hours have done!! I highly recommend Jensen. Training with Jensen was one of the best things we did with our dog. He knows his stuff, he knows and loves dogs, and he knows people. Time spent with Jensen was so much more about training me to lead and train than it was about the dog being trained. Jenson gives you the eyes to see what to do or not to do as well as the tools to fix it. Just got done with a set of lessons with our two dogs, with very different problems. Jensen and his crew are very easy to work with and full of knowledge. We came to Jensen in crisis with our dog reacting negatively to new people, dogs, and situations. Within just a few weeks, Jensen kindly and patiently shifted our perspectives and training strategies, resulting in incredible shifts in our dog's behavior. We just finished training at Huffman K9 Obedience and all I can say is WOW! Jensen and his training crew (David & Jenny) are incredible. Our family got a rescue dog, Coco, in June. By December, we were pretty tired of not knowing how to help her stop some irritating and sometimes dangerous behaviors. It is with honor and pride that I highly recommend Jensen as a personal dog trainer. I am a first time dog owner. I completed the puppy, intermediate, and advanced dog classes at a nearby chain pet store, but in the end, I still had a 15-month-old Golden Retriever who was difficult to manage. He pulled on the leash when we went for walks, barked at my kids, used his mouth to interact with people, and, according to the place where we boarded him, did not “play nicely” with other dogs. After working with Jensen and Jax, I now have a much more obedient and well-mannered pet that is easier for the whole family, as well as guests, to interact with. Jensen believes in educating the owner in dog behavior and clearly loves what he does. He is punctual, professional, easy to work with, and offers lots of options to help families problem solve and co-exist with their furry pet. It makes a huge difference that Jensen comes to our house to help us with our dog in our environment, but we also have had lessons at local sites to learn other skills. After going through the 10 lesson series, my dog now walks well on a leash for me as well as for other people, does not bark at my kids, gets into the car when commanded, lays down at my feet or another place when told, and stays until released (including at my son’s very exciting soccer game or when we answer the front door). My only wish is that we had started with Jensen when we first brought our dog home as a 9 week old puppy – but we certainly will with our next dog! More...
