So we called ahead and asked about their cooking oil (husband will end up in the ER when he consumes canola). Â On the phone they said "vegetable" "no canola", but when we got there our server, Krista, informed us that she had her the conversation with the cooks and they DO use a vegetable blend and it DOES contain canola. Krista went the extra mile though. Â She went back to the kitchen and found that their margarine did not contain canola (soy, palm, palm kernel) and that they also had the ability to cook in olive oil. Â She had the cooks prepare our food in olive oil due to it being an authentic oil and not a questionable blend. If my husband consumes canola, he WILL be in the ER within 6-8 hours with colicky bile duct, swollen gallbladder, and in hypertension crisis. He WILL require Morphine and Torodal. Â This is not know as an allergen. But THANKS TO KRISTA these out of town visitors will not have to spend a night in the hospital. Btw, the food was awesome!!!!!! More...

What a hidden gem! Â This is our new go to breakfast/brunch place!!! Â First off, it looks so small from the outside but when u enter it's triple the size I was expecting. Â The French toast with fresh strawberries was absolutely delish!!!! Â The only reason why I took off one star was so to the server. Â My husband's coffee sat empty the majority of the meal. Long story, but my friend took us to HotCakes to buy me a cake. HotCakes was her first suggestion of a cake shop since they provided her wedding cake; I don't believe there is any higher endorsement. I had scoped out the website ahead of time and found myself fancying a peanut butter pie which was described as "a not-too-sweet peanut butter cheesecake, with bittersweet chocolate glaze." Sold!Once at HotCakes, I was elated to find a couple of small peanut butter pies ($20.99) in the case. They also had larger ones too. I might add that all the cakes looked incredible; I'm sure they were all delicious! Sadly, my friend would not be willing to buy me all the cakes at HotCakes.We took the cake/pie home, and everyone there went insane about the thing. The cream cheese-based peanut butter filling and chocolate fudge-like topping were exceptional. I think we viewed dinner as a chore the next few nights, just plodding through it, wanting to get to more peanut buttery chocolate heaven! The cake/pie kept very well in the fridge for several days. It's great how HotCakes offers slices too if purchasing a whole cake isn't in the cards. Hot Cakes has hands down the BESTEST Quiche not just in Charlottesville but on the planet! Â I am somewhat an authority on this as I have traveled much of it and tried many quiche. Â I had turkey and cheddar today and oooooh my was it yummy! Â If you have never tried this you are really missing out! Â I ordered a whole one from Grub Hub and it comes refrigerated. Â I put it in my hot air fryer at medium temperature for 15 minutes and it comes out as hot, fresh, light and fluffy as it is right out of the oven. Â Awesome idea for Sunday brunch! I stopped by Hotcakes the other day for the quiche of the day and could not leave without also taking home a Napoleon. In my homecountry of The Netherlands, it is called "tompouce" and it's quite popular. I did not imagine it to be as good, but to be honest, it was better. When I got home, I cut the Napoleon in two pieces in order to share with the husband..... it never got to that. Boy, did that pastry ever give me a feeling of home. I frequent this place because I love the outdoor patio. It has plugs and so it's great for working. However, I would say that it's definitely a bit overpriced. My only real complaint overall is that I specifically ask for glass "for here" cups every time I get coffee and 9/10 times I end up with another unnecessary piece of plastic. I'm see that they've changed their packaging and a few other things to be more sustainable but it would be really nice if they went the whole way for "here" customers especially when they ask for glass cups. Ate lunch there on my girls weekend with friend, the owner went over and above with customer service! He offered samples of his foods and desserts. While we were chatting after we ate, he came over to us with a piece of cake that he said we needed to eat. The lemon square was very good, I've had better. The parrot cupcake was phenomenal, the frosting was delicious. The Hyde Park chocolate cake was not very good for a bakery, the cake was not super moist, and the frosting wasn't anything special, it tasted like Entenmann's with canned frosting.

This is about wedding catering. I can not recommend this company highly enough. They are very professional and caring. Â It's so nice to be listened to and understood. Lisa, the owner did this for us and had even visited the venue and impressed their staff with her good questions, they said they never had a caterer do that. Â She created a great menu. Â They were responsive and broke down their charges in a way that was fully understood, the price was fair and nothing was sprung on us. Â The food was amazing, our guest raved.
