Great photography is a combining of many elements to create an image that ensures an emotional response in the viewer. The key elements I always focus on (it is my mantra when shooting). The questions that I ask myself:
Subject - What is the focus of the image? What is the intention of the image - is it a memorial or an emotion? A beautiful landscape requires a different approach to a study on urban decay.
Composition - The flow of the frame and movement of the elements CAN be the deciding element between a good and great photo. There are no set rules however a frame which holds weight and draws the eye can help to communicate the power of the image.
Light - Photography literally translates from Greek to mean "drawing with light" - the single most important element for any image is use of light. There are a myriad of techniques and tools for sculpting the light as it is captured by your sensor or film. Without light their is little to be shown for your efforts!
Texture - This is a personal fascination - modern photography allows us to capture incredible colours and pin sharp resolution. However I find that sometime these elements can detract from one of the most descriptive elements of photography. Texture fascinates me and when used well in black and white photography it is louder than and more powerful than the most vibrant of colours.
Depth - An equally important element which is very much aligned with composition. It allows you to both command and mute the subject according to its environment. You can dictate the focus and absorb all of the elements of the photography with this key element.

I aim to use all of these elements combined with specialist photography equipment. When I use these skills with our personable yet professional approach we can create great photographs and images.
