Homegrown Moving Company

If I could give them 50 stars, I would! This was my first time hiring a moving company. I have moved 17 times in my life, so I chose to pack myself. They were gracious to accommodate with all of my requests. Carlos and Gene moved me from Lakewood to Montana...it had snowed the day before. They drove my belongings safely to my new home, moved my livingroom furniture a few times for me, and dropped off furniture at my storage unit for me. They were fun, professional, honest, cool, GREAT guys! How blessed I was Toby sent his best to take good care of me! Fully insured, amazing customer service (SO hard to find in this day and age) old fashioned personalized service. Kudos to the owner and management. Priced just right, firm and no surprises.  Keep up this level of service and do not sacrifice it at any cost...you truly are a great company! Huge shout out to everyone at Homegrown Moving Company!  These guys have to be the rock stars of the moving industry.  From setting up the move with Toby, to the actual moving day, I knew I was in good hands all the way.  The minute Pat, Mitch and Carlos walked the door they were mentally planning the logistics of loading all my belongings strategically into the truck.  They made it all look so easy, a quick stop at a storage facility and on to my temporary destination, all done in three hours.I highly recommend this company, and will use them when I move again in a few months! The people at Homegrown we're the best part of the experience- Josh the dispatcher plus Mike and Gene who handled the move. From the first phone call, to the text updates leading up to the move, to the hard work and friendly cooperation of everyone I have to say it was the best move ever. The most amazing part was that I called on Thursday to help my son move on the following Tuesday. Absolutely nothing went wrong! My experience with this moving company was the best it could have been. I've dealt with many movers now and thought that they were just all crap but not these guys! The team we had, (Patrick, Pedro, Josh and Andrew) were all extremely professional, hardworking and fast! They showed up right on time and immediately jumped right in and started at it! I'm pregnant so we had them do some of the packing and they made sure to take great care of our things (and not let me carry anything) which I found to be above and beyond customer service wise. I have never dealt with a more friendly and polite group of people when doing manual labor. I've read so many nightmare reviews about moving companies, I was prepared to have very low expectations. Mitch, Paul, and Gene knocked those expectations out of the park. These gentlemen were so friendly, professional, respectful, and QUICK. They hauled ass, going up and down probably a million flights of stairs (moving us from a second floor to a third floor apartment across town), carrying huge loads of boxes, and taking real care not to break anything. Furniture was wrapped and packed into the truck well, and they were very conscientious about putting things where we wanted in the new location. They even offered to rearrange the furniture to our liking once everything was in. They clearly like and have respect for their boss, which speaks well of the company in general. I also appreciated the software they use, which lets you both see and agree on the start and end times, and shows all the fees in a very transparent and easy-to-understand manner. When Mitch was checking us out, he walked us through the fees again, adding them up on his calculator so we could see exactly what we were paying for. These guys did a great job. They were prompt, friendly, courteous, and most importantly, they were efficient and took care of my belongings as I would expect. The quote was a bit high, especially compared to my other moves. However, at least it still remained on par with what I anticipated. My only other constructive criticism is that I was the only person to help guide where items went off the truck. Being the sole caregiver for my mom, I didn't have an extra set of eyes to help guide where items went once inside the house.It would have nice if they read the top of the box as they dropped several boxes in a spot and assisted me with getting items to the designated location. Meaning, they would stack 5-6 boxes on a dolly, it was hard to tell where each one went especially when many boxes were of the same size and shape. On the other hand, since they did a drop and run tactic, this does increase time efficiency and helps minimize your hourly rate. I guess you will need to pick your poison or be better than I was at marking boxes on the side or color-coding boxes and rooms. :)If half stars were an option, I might dock off a half star of those but on the flip side, I would need to add a 1/2 star back on as they did assist me in helping to rearrange my mom's room. Homegrown Moving did a great job on my move. Special shoutout to Mark and Dakota who were happy to move all my super heavy stuff with a good attitude. Those two definitely know how to pack a truck, they were able to do my 1 bedroom apartment with a lot of furniture and boxes in a single truck load. They didn't complain about the stairs they had to take and were conscious of all my belongings. Their prices are reasonable compared to other moving company quotes that I was looking at. I needed to move, and researched moving companies in Denver, finding Homegrown Movers. Overall, I had a good experience, and would recommend them. A few glitches kept me from giving a full five stars. My move was relatively small - a 1 BR with loft, in a condo. Not much in terms of major furniture - most of that got sold or given away before they showed. We placed mostly boxes, mattresses and box springs, and a few wardrobe cases and small furniture items into storage. In short, I had a much less complicated move than most people do. The two guys - Will and Mark - were really, really nice, and went above and beyond my expectations in most ways.  The day of the move was blazing hot, and these two ran up and down my stairs, dripping sweat, but cheerfully happy to conduct my move. So the two movers get a massive thumbs up. Interestingly, they were all too willing to stop and drop a couch at a friend's home, but not willing to move a table I had told them they might need to move when I placed the initial order. It felt like the people quoting were not necessarily talking to the people moving. The movers said "oh, I think I saw something about a table in the notes". Long story short, they felt they did not have enough people to move the table - which was a very heavy piece, so fair enough, I want everyone to be safe. So we discussed it at length, and agreed to have them come back another day to move the table. Then the managers/owners emailed saying they did not feel they could move the table, though a) I had told them it was a possibility at the outset, b) they are professional movers, and c) the movers on site agreed to come back on a different day with a third guy. None of this disappointed me as much as the managers/owners never again responding to any of my emails or attempted communications on the matter. They could have at least had the courtesy to respond to my emails asking for their professional help, as professional movers. Nothing.  I had to find others to move the table, and ultimately wound up paying some non-professional mover friends who got it out of my house just fine - with no training or equipment at all. As a single mother, I needed their help, and asked for it to get shunned after the big move, and of course, receipt of my payment. Too bad after setting such a good tone on the front end of the move. As if buying/selling a house with young kids weren't stressful enough, we also wanted to move before the snow hit this weekend. Toby was able to accommodate my short notice and put my mind at ease when I emailed him pictures of our large furniture across two floors and in our backyard/garage. This is our third move in ten years -- which I always vow I will never do again -- and I still don't understand how gigantic beds and washer/dryer and such make it from one basement to another across town. But the movers HGM sent out carefully and quickly moved heavy things for hours until the job was done to our satisfaction. Even though the movers were running a few hours late the day of our move, they were very communicative, and Toby promised they would get us taken care of. The move went even faster than I expected, and it was also more reasonable and up-front than many of the other quotes I got. If we ever move again, I will definitely hire Home Grown Movers. I had a three man crew the second weekend in December moving from a large corporate apartment complex in Cherry Creek to southwest Denver. My move was a huge PITA but these guys made it better. It was mostly a PITA due to my apartment building and another tenant trying to steal my freight elevator which I had reserved for months... can't fix stupid I suppose.Anyway, these guys dealt with the issues like champs! They were in good spirits, super helpful, and navigated my labyrinth of an apartment complex with ease - or at least made it look that way. They were even harassed and berated by the other moving crew who was there (the "team" of ex-cons that tried to steal my freight elevator with idiot resident mentioned above) and traversed this well while still being super efficient. Upon landing at the destination location, they did a nice job making sure nothing was damaged. There was one wall scuff but they apologized all over the place for it. Things happen, no biggie. I recommended this team to my neighbors and everyone I know looking for great movers. I bought them lunch and gave each guy $100 tip - they totally deserved it. Thanks guys! More...

Moving is the absolute worst.  Like anyone else, I was worried about choosing the right company for the job.  I was moving from a downtown apartment, so I scheduled them to be there at 2 PM to be sure that we could lock down an elevator for the move.  Unfortunately, they ran late from their prior job.  Normally, their late arrival would have led me to give them 3 stars or less, but the way they handled the situation was exceptional.  Pat and his team were extremely apologetic.  He was in contact with me the entire time before they got there.  In addition to that, they brought an extra guy to make things go more quickly.  They had everything loaded in an hour.  In total, the move took a little over 3 hours.  At the end of the move, I was shocked with Pat gave me a massive discount because they were late.  I literally couldn't believe it.  I wish I could give them more than 5 stars for their customer service.
