When my brother passed away last year,my 89-year old mom could no longer live in her house in Cupertino and moved to Hawaii to live with me and my family. I was tasked with remodeling her house (bathrooms and kitchen) and tried to find a good contractor in an area. While I lived in CA 30 years ago and have friends in the area, I did not have any idea on who could do the work. It was also difficult going back and forth between HI and CA. My mom also had a lot of items still in the house that had to be sorted through and these items would be in the house while construction was in progress. After three different contractors looked at the house and gave estimates, I finally decided to try going through Home Depot. Fortunately, Home Works was given the contract for only the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I ended up hiring Home Works to do a complete remodel of the kitchen and bathrooms. This included obtaining all required permits, installing a new electrical box, re-wiring the kitchen and bathrooms to bring them up to code (safety!), ripping out damaged flooring and replacing (their tile work is dope!), installing vent fans, etc. They are THAT good..and more.Chris, Paul and Jerry are the ultimate professionals in every sense of the word. They have high standards and they do not cut corners or try to cover up imperfections that may come back to cost the homeowner even more in the future. Their work is top-notch. I can't begin to describe how impressed I am with this each and every one of them. I had to travel back and forth from Hawaii and, most of the time, I was not in the house when they were working. Because of the emotional aspect surrounding the renovation and the distance between my home in HI and the CA house, I felt pretty vulnerable and acutely aware that anyone working on the house could take advantage of the situation. I came to trust them implicitly. When I was in the house (painting), I could tell they were extremely skilled and efficient. I highly recommend Chris Bajorek of Homeworks Construction. Â Chris and his guys just finished remodeling three bathrooms for us and we couldn't be happier! Â I talked with several contractors before meeting with Chris and he made my decision very easy! Â I had a list of questions and concerns to address with each contractor that I met with. Â Chris was answering my questions before I even had a chance to ask them! Â He knows his stuff and was very honest and straightforward. Â I appreciated that he didn't try to convince me to do work that would have upped the cost. Â In fact, he actually did the opposite and suggested that it wasn't worth spending the additional money to make some changes I was considering! Â When he quoted the job for me, it was very clear what the costs would be and exactly what work would be done. Â With the others, the quotes and scope of work were not clear at all. Â Once the job was started, Chris and two of his guys, Paul and Jerry, Â clearly communicated with me every day so I knew exactly what to expect. Â Chris was always available any time I had questions. Â They showed up on time, were very respectful of me and my home, and were some of the hardest working guys I have ever met. Â I was here every day, so I saw first-hand everything that was going on. Â They were very helpful at making suggestions and changes along the way that they thought might improve on what we had originally planned. Â I felt as if they worked in my home just as they would in their own homes. Â In fact, there were times that they were pickier than me! Â There were also a few tricky and complex issues that came up, as typically happens with most remodels. Recently, Chris completed a major kitchen remodel for me and it turned out beautifully. Because it was progressing so well, I went on to update the entry way, bathrooms and dining room. The costs were fair and well-defined before we began each project (I had other contractors submit bids). Having done major remodels before, I knew how important it was to have respectful, reliable and professional people coming into my home each day and Chris and his workers met my expectations. They were on time, trust worthy and neat. They could also be flexible when needed. I appreciated the clean-up each day and the care they took with my house. Chris was also helpful with advice related to those details that can make the difference in a project, like choosing the right toilet or finding the best crown molding. Chris and his team did a partial bathroom repair (subfloor damage) and remodel (new tile floor) a few years ago. Â He diagnosed the problem correctly and did not oversell or suggest needless repairs, as other contractors did. Â Chris is honest, straightforward and diligent. Â The quality of the work is excellent. Â And, his quotes are reasonable.Recently, I called him back for a different problem in a shower stall. Chris and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish! We had two bathrooms remodeled, and they were meticulous with their details. The crew (Paul and Jerry) were hard working, respectful, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer suggestions when any issues came up. We felt safe having them in the house all day, and did not have to worry about leaving our house to go to work. Pricing was very reasonable and transparent, and work was excellent. We met Chris and his crew last year for our first remodeling project (kitchen).Before that, we've never hired the contractor since my husband is a pretty good handy man.  However, we decided to hire a professional for this project because of complexity of the project. We're glad we did. Also, we're glad we could work with Chris and his crew. They're very knowleadgeable and experienced. In addition, their work ethic is very good.  At design stage, Chris pointed out a dishwasher in our original design need to be re-located because of safety reason.  Home Depot design person didn't realize it  nor did we. Since he insisted so hard, we followed his suggestion and changed the design. But it was not reflected into his crew's design sheet right away.  As a result, they installed a dishwasher in the original place. We thought it's OK to keep that way since that's the original plan. However, as soon as Chris found out, he convinced his crew to re-do. I felt sorry for them because it's not their fault. After I started using the kitchen, I truly understand why he insisted so hard. I'm grateful that he didn't compromise at that point.  This is just one example how good he is.  Besides the outstanding knowledge/experiences, his crew were always punctual and didn't waste any time. For example, they found out that the screws came with cabinet knobs I ordered from online store were not long enough to hold onto the Kraftmaid cabinet. Then, one crew just left and came back in half hour with several packs of long screws so that they can complete installation w/o any delays. I was so happy to have Chris and his crew work on my kitchen. Beautiful work! Plus, Chris has superb communication skills and quick to respond. They made extra effort to accommodate our needs and last minute changes. For instance, after they installed kitchen backsplash tiles, I noticed a small hole on a tile made for an old telephone line that we don't use. I forgot to tell them it's no longer needed. It looked ugly and I wasn't sure what to do. Chris listened to me and they immediately closed the hole and replaced the tile they just installed. Having these little things one after another can be stressful. But with Chris, it was so easy.I'm very happy to recommend him to anyone. More...
