Home Instead in Elland is a brilliant company to deal with - and they have such caring staff. Trying to navigate the care system is a bit of a minefield but I’ve had nothing but support from everyone so far. Also, the way the carers look after my Dad is wonderful. He’s had one going in every morning since last Nov. and she’s fantastic - so attentive and caring. Another has recently started to carry out a second visit on an evening and although I’ve not met him personally yet, Dad says he’s lovely too. It’s great he has the continuity of seeing the same people everyday and they care for Dad as an individual. It was a bit of struggle getting him to accept any help to begin with, as he doesn’t like change but I know he feels comfortable with the care he receives and I have nothing but positive things to say about everyone I’ve dealt with so far. So after training for a week And paying £60 for a DBS check , Then waiting 8 weeks to start, I've received the wrong Rota numerous times , phone calls at stupid hours when I have small children, clients have even said their not happy with how unorganized the office is etc. Now after all the hassle I've had my wage isn't even correct. Absolute shower of shite. After finishing my induction in June got my dbs sorted after a few weeks. Got told that they would give block shifts only for them to give me a 1 hour in morning then another late at night when there are no buses. The management don't stay and leave after a few weeks/ months. No continuity of care. You get told that it's an hour call out but the care givers only stay for 20 mins. Also this company goes under the name of golden days. The co-ordinator will say hx3 but doesn't realise that it's split up so just expects you to travel. Such a shame that Lisa and Mel left and all you have in replacement is Donna and James. More...
