Amazing service, we especially like the reports you receive each evening. Thanks for looking after our puppy and treating him like one of your own.

Thank you fore you're kind words. Your boy has always been fun and entertaining to walk with really good social skills amongst the other dogs. We love having him out on our adventures.

Holty paws are a pleasure to work with and have them look after my boy, it can be daunting leaving your family member with a stranger but the passion, professionalism and joy they have makes it all worth while, and I’ve seen a difference in my boy and how much is looking forward to his next walk.

Your boy is such a character and really loves his time with us as we love having him with us.

We can’t thank Ian and Gabby enough for the help they have given us with Judi. From 8 weeks old she had only ever walked with us and was quite nervous of other dogs despite being well socialised at puppy classes. We wanted her to get to know other people and be more confident with dogs and it was a big step trusting someone else with our spoiled 4 year old fur baby. However, we needn’t have worried. She fell in love with Ian immediately and genuinely looked forward to her 2 walks every week, excitedly waiting at the front door for Ian to arrive. Ian suggested she walked with a group, and although we were a little nervous at first it was clearly the best thing for her. Her new found confidence is lovely to see. She now wants to acknowledge and engage with other dogs rather than run past them growling. We now live in the Lake District which she loves. However, a recent family wedding took us back to Southampton and Judi was treated to 2 more walks with Ian. To say she was pleased to see him is an understatement. More...

Our two bunny’s were looked after by Gabby and Ian recently whilst we were away, they were extremely well cared for, happy and content on arrival back home. Photos were sent regularly with updates of their welfare - a lovely unexpected bonus. I can not recommend them highly enough, they’re professional, kind, nothing is too much trouble and their love for all animals clearly shines through. Would highly recommend them. More...

Review on behalf of Mavis - Ian and Gabby are very professional but also very caring and took time to understand the needs of my cats, one of which is very nervous. They spent time making a fuss of the cats as well as feeding and caring for them. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and feel very lucky to have them so close! More...

Gabby and Ian are just the best - Meg and Charlie are very energetic collies and need a lot of exercise and interaction. After their walk yesterday, we didn't hear a peep out of them for hours, a job very well done! They are always very well looked after and the photos that are sent afterward show just how much fun they are having. Thank you so much for always been there to help us when we need you!!

We don't work standard 9 to 5. The Holy Paws team always work to fit in looking after our dog when necessary, including any special requirements if necessary. Not just professional, but incredibly caring as well. More...

Thank you so much for your kind words, Harry. We love looking after your lively lad and he's a very welcome and loved member of our group. All the other dogs love him and he's a great, positive influence on the more 'wayward' members of the walking pack!

We would recommend Gabby to anyone without hesitation. Our puppy Jilly loves her walks with her and Harvey. It’s been great for her to socialise with lots of different dogs of different ages and breeds. Gabby loves Jilly like she’s her own and we know she’s being well cared for when she’s with her. What fabulous people! These guys have looked after my two dogs (who aren’t the easiest to deal with!) a few times now and I always feel happy that they are safe and having a great time. I get photos everyday and a message telling me what they’ve been up to - they always seem a bit disappointed when I go to collect them! Seriously cannot recommend Holty Paws enough. More...

What a joy it is when Gabriella comes to call for my dog Honey. It is plain to see that after just a few walks Honey adores her. She is always so full of fun and ready for a different walk every day. She also sends videos and/or photos of their walks together. My dog is not the easiest to handle but Gabby takes everything in her stride. I am so so glad I decided to contact her. Couldn't be happier and couldn't have picked a lovlier lady. Thank you Gabby More...

Holty-paws looked after my dog when I was going to London for the day. Was great because in the summer heat I knew the best place for him was at home so Holly paws came in, took him for a walk and back to their house for some love and fun and then dropped him back tired and ready to sleep for the rest of the afternoon. Was a great seamless service and Ralph looked like he had a lot of fun. Will definitely be using them again. And there are not many people I would entrust my dogs care to. More...

Q&A

Since I was young I’ve always loved animals, both learning about and taking care of them. This passion comes from my home and family, having dogs, cats and rabbits since a child.

I adopted several rescue dogs that had been overlooked by others, ensuring they received love and the best care possible for their final years. Now my family and I continue this loving care; we have a couple of intrepid, confident rabbits and our young 'Splurcher' (Springer/Lurcher), Harvey, who we enjoy constant love and entertainment with due to his mischievous and fun-loving nature.

Every day with our pets is a gift. They are loving, funny and enhance every aspect of life. I began Holty Paws recently and now have the opportunity to share my love of animals with my clients to provide a unique, tailor-made service that suits the demands of you and your four-legged family members.

I am trained in pet First Aid, I am DRB-checked and also currently studying an animal psychology course, all to provide the best care possible for your pet and for your peace of mind.

I love to share my love of animals with everyone I meet, especially your pets!

I had been off work for some time and I found that after we got our dog, I was getting out more and exercising with him. I really enjoy going for walks and simply connecting with animals; they are honest, they love you unconditionally and all deserve the very best life that we can give them.

I simply wanted to have the opportunity to give back to all the pets and animals I see, to make sure they feel appreciated and cared for. We've recently started popping in to look after a couple of cats that have really strong personalities, they are so much fun and I feel it is an absolute privilege to be able to spend time with them or the dogs that I walk.

We aim to be your pet's SECOND best friend.

Your dog, your cat or rabbit or guinea pig is our client, first and foremost. We focus one hundred per cent on them when they are in our care.

For dogs, we looked at how we and most other people take them for a walk. I didn't see dog owners popping their pooches into a van to go off for a walk; they hop in a car and sit looking out of the window, usually full of anticipation, excited to see where they are being taken. That was why we decided to go for a people carrier. It's a seven-seater with privacy glass and air-conditioning.
All dogs are fitted with a Kurgo vehicle safety harness (we have different sizes). These are one of the few dog harnesses that have been rigorously crash-tested for safety. These will then buckle your dog to their own seatbelt. On their walks we will provide them with water, treats and dog toys as well as individual quick-dry dog towels. We also carry a Hozelock PortaShower for really muddy days so we can wash them off before we get back home and we've installed a battery-operated air conditioning unit so they are kept cool and comfortable when we are collecting or delivering their walking chums back to their homes.
Group walks are organised with a maximum of four dogs, each being of similar ages, fitness and temperaments to ensure all are in a great environment together.
Our Small Animal Visits suited for homes with rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, budgerigars, parrots, tortoises, fish, etc.
We will visit, giving them fresh water and food, clean out cages and hutches, even spend a little cuddling and stroking time, making sure that they are happy and healthy.
We will send updates in a little report, including photos and send them to you so you know they are all okay.
We are here to give a helping hand so can also pick up post, water plants and open and close curtains whilst you are away.
We also offer puppy visits, walks and socialisations as we well as a service that is specific to senior dogs.
We can offer a pet taxi service and also last minute, emergency care.

Services

We are very fortunate that we live in an area with a diverse range of suitable and safe dog walking locations. Each walk we visit has been previously investigated for its suitability for your dog. We have parkland, beaches, woodland and meadows all within easy reach of us and we make sure that your dog experiences a different walk every day, to ensure they are stimulated and content. We will provide them with water, treats and dog toys as well as individual quick-dry dog towels. We also carry a Hozelock PortaShower for really muddy days so we can wash them off before we get back home and we've installed a battery-operated air conditioning unit so they are kept cool and comfortable when we are collecting or delivering their walking chums back to their homes. We believe that most dogs enjoy the drive to their walk (ours certainly does) and so we want them all to be able to have a positive and relaxed journey, just like they do when they are travelling with you. All dogs are fitted with a Kurgo vehicle safety harness (we have different sizes). These are one of the few dog harnesses that have been rigorously crash-tested for safety. These will then buckle your dog to their own seatbelt. Group walks are organised with a maximum of four dogs, each being of similar ages, fitness and temperaments to ensure all are in a great environment together. We can offer variations in our dog walking service. For example, a more energetic dog can come on two consecutive group walks and for some older or travel-anxious dogs we are able to offer walks in places more local to them.

This service is suited for homes with rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, budgerigars, parrots, tortoises, fish, etc. we will visit, giving them fresh water and food, clean out cages and hutches, even spend a little cuddling and stroking time, making sure that they are happy and healthy. We will send updates in a little report, including photos and send them to you so you know they are all okay. We are here to give a helping hand so can also pick up post, water plants and open and close curtains whilst you are away.

We know that older dogs may still be very willing but might not be so able. Sometimes a group walk isn't suitable and they're quite happy resting at home. We will visit your home whilst you're out and check on them. We can ensure they have food and water, take them out for a 'comfort break' and subtle play in your garden or even a short, individual walk.

We know that cats are often out patrolling their territory but they do still want some care and attention when you're away and many do appreciate a bit of companionship, too. We'll pop in to check they are healthy and give them fresh food and water. We'll clean out their litter tray and spend time cuddling and playing with them, too.

Puppies need stimulation, play and attention. They are also in need of human interaction as well as being fed and watered. We will pop round and clean up any accidents, make sure they have food and give them fresh water. Afterwards, we'll spend some time playing with them either in your home, in the garden or take them out for some socialisation. Our service will offer all that they need for your new addition including puppy play, basic training and some hugs and cuddles whilst we are with them.

We like to give our more active dogs a little more physical exertion when we can and so at weekends we offer a group dog trek. These longer walks last for approximately two hours and might cover a diverse range of terrain including woodland, meadow, beaches, riverbanks and so forth. These walks are run by my husband, Ian, and he'll ensure he gives your dog the same love, focus and attention as I do on our weekday walks. As with all our walking services, we will return your dog after the've been towel-dried.

You might need your dog taken to the groomers or perhaps your cat or rabbit has an appointment at the vet. We can pick them up and take them there for you and, if necessary, stay with them, offering friendly companionship if they are a bit nervous or ill at ease. We have travel carriers for animals like cats and small animals. We have different sized Kurgo vehicle safety harnesses for dogs. These are one of the few harnesses that have been rigorously crash-tested for safety. These will then buckle your dog to their own seatbelt. We've also got a battery-operated air conditioning unit for when we are making house calls so the car remains cool and comfortable. We can also visit your local pet shop or supplier and collect your pre-ordered supplies, delivering them to your home whilst you're at work, saving you the hassle of trying to fight traffic to get there before they shut.

You might be going away for a night or for a few days. you don't want to put your pet into a boarding kennels or a cattery. Some pets are just more comfortable staying in your own home. We can offer an 'at home' overnight pet sitting service that will ensure your best friend remains comfortable in a place they know well whilst you're away. We know this works because this is what we do when we have to go away! We will come to your home by an agreed time and ensure your cat, rabbit, hamster or dog is settled with play, exercise, a walk and then fed. In the morning we will walk them (if it's a dog, for example) and give them their breakfast and ensure they are settled before leaving them for an agreed number of hours. (You can bolt on our 'Day Care' service to this one, if this works best for you and your pet.)

There are some dogs that may suffer from separation anxiety, others (such as younger dogs) might need more interaction. Either way, it is inadvisable to leave your dog for more than 3-4 hours at a time. This is where our day care service comes to your aid. We can come and collect your dog and he can stay with us on all our adventures during the day including joining us on our group walks. When we're not out and about they can rest or have a few cuddles and playtime. All the while, you know that they aren't getting worried or chewing on some furniture. We can even send you updates during their day with us!

We all know how it goes, you've got everything planned down to the 'enth' degree and then you get broadsided with something unexpected and no time to change your plans. It could be a delayed train, having to work late or having to take a family member to the hospital. It could be any of these things and more. Whatever the reason, you still need to ensure that your pet gets the care they need. As parents, we at Holty Paws are very aware of this and so we want to be able to put your mind at rest whilst you take care of your emergency. We can come in to your home, look after your pets, making sure they are fed, watered and exercised. We are here to give you a helping hand when you need it most.
