Holt Lodge Hotel

Went to holt lodge last night for my works xmas party. We have been once before (8 years ago) and we’re very disappointed due to the lack of space, trouble getting drinks at the bar and poor quality food. This year was a completely different experience. ||We arrived and the room was beautifully set up and there was plenty of space to move around. ||There was a master of ceremonies who ensured everyone got the correct food and assisted staff and customers when needed.||The food was lovely, it is very difficult to cater for a lot of people and I often find xmas dinner a little disappointing. I wasn’t last night. I had the fish cakes to start, turkey for main and sticky toffee pudding for afters. The food was beautiful. The turkey was lovely as were all the trimmings. The food was also served hot. ||Bar staff were quick and attentive and Ged (if I remember his name correctly) was lovely and great fun. Nice Sunday carvery for 14 of us which was well handled by the holt lodge. Nice and polite staff who did a good job of keeping us all in food and drink. ||Father Xmas had made a visit and was handing out presents for the toddlers of the group and was great entertainment for them.||The carvery was really good with a good selection of meats and veggies.||Really good and will deffo go back More...

We have stayed at the Holt Lodge numerous times over the past 11 years and have never been disappointed during our visits. The hotel feels like a family run business and the staff are friendly and helpful. Especially helpful were Susie on reception, who handled our telephone booking and checked us in on arrival. We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel for a friend's party a lovely hotel with friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable, even changing rooms cause the tv didn't work and road noise. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on our first night and I ordered the Fish & Chips small, to my surprise it wasn't small but a big piece of fish was on my plate, and boy it was the best fish & chips I've enjoyed in years. Lovely cream tea. The scones were delicious and the finger sandwiches were also good. The waitress was very friendly but the manager was VERY miserable- very cold personality and spoke to us and the waitress in a cold manner, poor waitress!!!!

I have stayed here several times for business and spent the whole week. The staff are fab and can’t do enjoy for you. Very attentive and keen to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Food and drink are good and there is a wide range of options. I prefer the bar menu but that’s just my taste. Breakfasts are also great with everything I want. |The bedrooms are ok. Thin walls mean you can hear everything in the rooms around you which isn’t great but not sure how you resolve that. You get everything you need- bed, good shower, tv, desk but one or two small touches would add to the experience. A stool for the desk and lamp would be nice and some moisturiser in the bathroom. Can I just say a massive thank you to ALL the staff for a wonderful afternoon. We came on a Sunday afternoon for the carvery for my mother in laws 70th birthday. As she lives in Stoke on Trent we decided to surprise her with my family being there when she arrived. This was made so easy by the fabulous staff. The food was amazing, the happy birthday song/cake surprise was beautifully done and I cannot thank you all enough. The waiters and waitresses were exceptional and we all had a fabulous time. Phenomenal staff, Steff was great but all of them happy, cheery, conversational, read their audiences well to create a relaxed homely and efficient atmosphere. Could not fault it at all. Best service I've ever experienced. ||||Rooms were very clean and well equipped. Stayed at Holt lodge for 3 night for family wedding and Chester Marathon , we had 4 rooms for our party and were situated all together in one corridor which was wonderful. The room is clean and well serviced. The bar and communal areas are really inviting and cosy. Well stocked bar and very pleasant restaurant. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Downside - some road noise could be heard from our room but the road is not busy after 10pm The steaks for our evening meal were a bit chewy but the rest of the meal was delicious and we non the less enjoyed our evening. I set up an event for a lovely mummy to be-Gemma Gillanders, Baby Shower. On arrival receptionist was helpful in assisting us with access into the room early with plenty of time allowing us to set up. Staff were friendly and chatty. On collection, all of my items were safely placed together nicely. There is easy access into the event room, and allows plenty of time to collect. The room was decorated beautifully. We have just had our amazing wedding at the holt lodge, this place is amazing the staff are so friendly and accommodating its unbelievable. Yes you can go out and spend 10 20 thousand pounds and I guarantee you, you will not get a better place and you don't have to spend a fortune. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get married and have an amazing venue. We are still getting remarks days later on how amazing the food the staff the rooms the place in general is five star and above , I would love to do it all again . What a fantastic day ❤️ Not only was the stetting superb, the staff were amazing. Andre in particular was an exceptionally good host, he looked after all the guests as if they were his own family. ||My son and daughter in laws wedding was a bit different catering wise. The chef ‍ had to ensure that all the food was vegan and gluten free, I can assure you this is no mean feat. As you can imagine most guests expect traditional food but to their surprise the food was amazing. We had a relative's 90th birthday party at lunchtime on a Saturday at Holt Lodge Hotel and the whole experience was great from beginning to end. The communication beforehand was great, the staff were friendly, professional and gave us some great advice about planning. On the day we had a wonderful long table in the restaurant and the whole day went really smoothly with very caring staff on hand all the time to make sure everything was OK and the staff even started off the singing. I'd throughly recommend the venue and the guests who stayed overnight were delighted with the accommodation too. Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Someone else had said about noise from the A road outside. We didn't find this to be a problem but we did not have our windows open. Might be different if we had. But we didnt think the road was particularly busy over night. Breakfast was very nice. Lovely thick bacon. Full English Breakfast buffet plus fruit cereals and croissants.
