How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The architect and/or the owners need to first consult with their home owners association and then next consult with city permit dept. or county permit dept. that the loft is located in. If the building is a historical landmark, additional criteria shall need to be followed and the HOA should be able to provide with at least the building status. The goal is to comply with all codes and permitting requirements.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Here are the following recommended stages that all clients should follow to comply with the permitting and codes requirements.
This process requires some patience. I do complete contract documents including construction administration.
Client meeting/consultation with retainer
Initial code review with the city/county and HOA.
After initial approval, contract is issued for parties to sign.
The pre-design process continues into the design development.
Multiple client meetings during the design development with client approvals
Final design approval is approved by client(s)
Permit set issued to city/county
Contractor is selected now or at the contract stage
Construction begins with the construction administration
Close out of project with "punch list"

Which interior design styles can you cater for?
I am interesting and admire many styles most particular in the mid-century style or atomic home style. Also, I am a fan of the arts & crafts style along with Frank L. Wright homes. I am happy to accommodate all client's style.
What do you love most about your job?
Architecture encompasses many jobs drafting, designing, meetings people, seeing other architecture.
What inspired you to start your own business?
First, I became a licensed architect and you need a business to be able to do architecture in the state of Texas. Next, I obviously get to do my own designs. I get to be an Architect.
