For years I thought that having a financial adviser seemed pointless: my MBA schooled head said that in a world of cheap market-matching trackers giving away a fraction of your earnings for uncertain extra performance was foolish. I dabbled in a few investments here and there and used up my ISA allowance each year but could never summon the enthusiasm to really optimise my financial decisions. Having been convinced to test my scepticism with Ed Holder by a friend I've since become a complete convert.
