Update : went yesterday. 4/28/2019 The cupcakes have improved. They're moist and flavorful. Yummm. LilikoI: moist and yummyDouble chocolate: very chocolate and delish . Moist. Peanut butter chocolate: moist flavors balanced perfectly. Red velvet: moist good but a lil too sweetGuava strawberry: really good. Can taste the guava and strawberry flavors. Nice and moist . Pop tart: it was moist and flavors were decent . However, not my favorite. I would like to taste the flavor of lilikoi  a lil more in the cupcake. Flavors need a little boost with the lilikoi flavor. A friend bought some cupcakes for me for my birthday. I believe the flavors were red velvet, strawberry pop tart, and shave ice. The red velvet and shave ice were delicious I could taste the shave ice flavor & the bright colored frosting & condensed milk drizzle makes it even more unique. I think if it were filled with something it'd be even better! The strawberry pop tart flavor was delicious as well! Only thing is it did not remind me of a strawberry pop tart--in fact it could've passed for a shave ice flavor as well. I will say I appreciated the appearance and strawberry jam filling. I first originally tried this place when they just won cupcake wars years ago at their Pearlridge location. At that time their cupcakes were to die for! Once that location closed down, I never had the chance to have their cupcakes but decided to give them a try and order delivery for a birthday celebration. Everyones says its a hit or miss with their cupcakes and sadly the cupcakes were drier than I remembered. Overall the flavors were good. I love the cupcakes and I'm no baker!  Velvet is the best and the cream on top, so yummy it triggers my diabetes..ugh. So I only eat by taking big whiffs of that sweet yummy delicious sugary smell. I can't tell you how much we love the cupcakes from Hokulani. It's been a while since I last bought any however due to the location and hours of operation but they by far are our favorite boutique cupcake shop on the island. Their cupcakes are so legit that the owner won one of the episodes of Cupcake Wars some years back. The cupcakes aren't dry and they use cream cheese frosting on majority of their cupcakes instead of butter cream which we prefer. Red velvet is the go to but they have other amazing flavors. I picked up a 6-pack and got a strawberry guava, an orange dreamsicle, a snicker-doodle, a carrot cake and two red velvet at $3 a piece. *I checked in on Yelp and received a 10% off coupon which was surprisingly awesome!The boutique shop is small but clean and the staff has always been friendly to me. You can special order for large quantities for a wedding or party if you want to treat your guests to their sugary goodness. Parking is available through Restaurant Row's parking structure but am not sure about validation since I walked over after jury duty.If you like cream cheese frosting, you won't be disappointed. I have been a fan of Hokulani's for a long time and come by here every year I am home to visit. I notice this time the bakery doesnt seem to be bustling and have limited selections. We purchased 4 different cupcakes - one vanilla with chocolate buttercream frosting, strawberry guava, chocolate with chocolate, and a lilikoi cupcake. The chocolate frosting was really small on the vanilla cupcake. The strawberry seemed a little stale. Fresh cupcakes still taste delicious though pricy. If you want Red Velvet cupcakes, this the bakery to go to. I really love this bakery after seeing them on Cupcake Wars on thr Food network. Their red vevlet cupcake is by far the best that I tasted, especially the stuffed red velvet. We chose them to make our cake for our wedding and they did a phenomenal job. The REAL cupcakes taste wonderful.I am a longtime fan of Hokulani Bakery and was shocked when my neighbor / best friend of 20 years received a cupcake that made him very ill. As it turns out it was not a cupcake it was a "realistic-looking"cupcake that was really a piece of soap. Being that it looked exactly like a cupcake and was packaged in a Hokulani box with a Bakery sticker. there was no warning saying not to eat this as it looked exactly like real cupcake. This is a must! I'm so glad I found this place. The workers are pleasant to work with and helpful. Their mini cupcakes are delicious which also includes their one day old batches. It's still moist as their freshest batch.The flavors I've tried here are the strawberry guava, red velvet, lilikoi, and toasted coconut.  All are so delicious in flavor, texture, and moisture of the cake.  My most favorite flavor is the strawberry guava, then red velvet, then the toasted coconut in that particular order.  I liked the lilikoi but it was too sweet for my tastebud.  It was surely a lot of lilikoi gel going on.This maybe be tucked in restaurant row, but don't let that stray you away because they do validation. My friend highly recommended that we had to try the Strawberry Cupcake before we left Hawaii. This little bakery shop is located inside of a plaza. We only had time to go an hour before it closed and there weren't many options left, but luckily we were able to get our hands on the 3 Strawberry Guava & 3 Port Wine cupcakes. Cupcakes then lunch? Lunch then cupcakes? Or, cupcakes for lunch? :)I was definitely hungry when I went to pick up cupcakes for my coworker and I, but tried to show some restraint (keyword: "tried. ") I'm all about trying new seasonal/limited-time flavors, so I got the Maple Bacon cupcake. The candied bacon was to die for!I also got their infamous filled Red Velvet. Although the other flavors were good, this one edged every other flavor out slightly. Best discovery? They have MINI cupcakes. For $1.50 each, they have a couple of flavors available daily. That day, they had toasted coconut and Lilikoi flavors. So obviously, I had to get both! They also validate parking if you're making a quick stop. Amazing flavors. Definitely try the salted caramel and the guava cupcakes. Only negative is that the cake is a bit on the dryer side compared to other cupcake stores like Georgetown or Spinkles. They also deliver which is a huge plus. We ordered them online and had them delivered to our hotel in Waikiki. Best cupcakes (and selection) ever! So so ONO! I've lived across the US and had the pleasure of tasting many a cupcake, but these really stand out in my mind. I ordered a random assortment of 12 for the hubby's birthday dinner, and loved every single one I tried. They were perfectly moist with excellent texture. Flavors were explosive and they satisfied every taste bud. I regret not taking a picture, but as you can see from other yelpers, they are adorable. I recommend them all! Hokulani cupcakes makes great cupcakes! I've been to Hokulani a couple years ago and recently just went back. It feels like there are so many more flavors to choose from now. I had such a hard time choosing just six on this day. It helped when I decided I'll obviously be back sometime real soon to try the other options. Suddenly got a craving for a treat on a Saturday day and saw this gem on Yelp.Parking is free and no hassles at restaurant row (no ticket taker) and also the shop gave us a validation just in case. Last minute birthday rescue!!! The night before my brother-in-law's birthday, my husband thinks it would be cool to send him something.  We looked up the traditional things like flowers and fruit boquet (boring and over done)... then i googled "bakery delivery honolulu" and this place came up.  Being too late to order online, I called out to their shop (thank goodness for the time zone difference) and spoke with Charice who was more than happy to help get an order put together (she was very friendly and made the process go smoothly).  A dozen cupcakes later, birthday success!!  They were delivered the next day (his actual birthday).  Yay!The pricing for each cupcake is what you would expect at a gourmet cupcake shop and delivery fee was nominal. I needed to order 300 mini cupcakes for a trade-show booth at a corporate event and I was on a budget. I'm from Chicago so couldn't taste test. Instead, I called multiple bakeries and the best prices were definitely at Hokulani. Based on the solid reviews, I decided it was a safe bet, and I'm glad Yelp didn't steer me wrong!Taste: These cupcakes were awesome! The vanilla were the best, but the red velvet cream cheese were also a huge hit!  We passed them out at our convention booth all day, but fell victim to eating at least 3-4 a day ourselves....life in Sales is tough....yes.Appearance: The cupcakes were very cute overall but frosting was pretty messy/sloppy looking on several of them. Likely no one cared or even noticed but me, but if I was spending my own money on these for my own party I might not have been so pleased.Customer Service: Very good. Dishing out $35 for a dozen cupcakes felt a bit out of my price range, but that's the price of quality--and these cupcakes truly are top quality.
