I can't say enough good things about Laura -- she's absolutely first-rate. We hired her to help us reconfigure and re-do a backyard that was crowded by large planting beds and a poorly-placed palm tree. She worked with us for months, putting up kindly with our constantly evolving ideas and tastes, while gently pushing us forward. Laura created a design that eliminated our over-sized planting beds and replaced them with beautiful container planters she designed and strategically placed to re-capture space, while also catching the eye immediately. She also replaced our large palm tree with two smaller, perfectly placed palms, and created an entirely new configuration for our space, which includes a great built-in bench and concrete countertop/bar area. Laura pulled together a number of different surfaces and textures into a cohesive whole, including concrete (aggregate and brushed), turf, river rock, composite decking, evergreen plants, perennials, palm trees, and flowers--wow! The end result is fantastic -- Laura's design nearly doubled our usable space, and at the same time made it much more beautiful. She's professional, diligent, deeply knowledgeable, creative, determined, and also a pleasure to work with. We would absolutely work with Laura again without any hesitation. She's great! More...

We employed Hoke Ley to design a guest house in Seattle, Wa. We had unique requirements due to the size of the lot and zoning considerations. Their design exceeded my expectations by incorporating unique space saving designs. I also wanted a very green building which used both indoor and outdoor living areas. Working with these young professionals was a pleasant experience because they listened to my needs and cared. We will work with them in the future to design our retirement home. More...

Gardenworkz Designs provided us with consultation, 3 alternative landscape plans and recommendation of landscape installer.
Also provided was assistance with relocation of existing plants and information re. water feature. Laura was personable and responsive in a timely and professional manner.
We look forward to completing our project this spring.

Laura Kleppe transformed our property from a disorganized, plain, unimaginative yard to a beautifully landscaped front yard and a relaxing and gorgeous back patio and and back yard.
She created an oasis for us. We get so many compliments on the landscaping. I give all the credit to Laura.
She takes our budget into account. She listens to our likes and dislikes and transformed my ideas into a reality that exceeded my expectations.

For some time we had been planning to have our front yard professionally landscaped, both to provide a fence for privacy and containing our dogs and to improve the overall curb appeal of our home. This included building four large trellises, a beautiful custom fence, new flagstone walkway and expanded flagstone porch, and lots and lots of beautiful plants and trees. Laura of Gardenworkz came up with some outstanding ideas, worked with us to fit the project into our budget, had excellent people available to do the work, and followed up on every detail. We hired Gardenworkz ten years ago to create an extensive and coordinated landscape design for a residential 1.5 acre urban property in Clyde Hill (Eastside, Seattle area).
Since then, Gardenworkz has continually maintained and upgraded this design, including landscape management throughout a recent 28 month period when we built a new primary residence on the property. Now that the new home is finished and we're moved in, the next phase is to complete the landscaping surrounding the immediate house area that was affected by the construction.
It has been wonderful working with Laura Kleppe of Gardenworkz throughout this time. Before any landscape work is started (by the contractors she oversees), she prepares a landscape plan, and supplies us with a proposed cost - so that we go into each area of work with our eyes open and our pocketbook protected.
I cannot recommend Gardenworkz highly enough. Every effort has been absolutely professional, and very good to work with.
