Do not use them, they will never file your returns accurately, they will take your money, make mistakes and disappear!!! Beware!!! Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
So that you can understand your company's health: knowing how to read a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement will help you to get a better grasp of your company's well-being in one glance (or close to it). Is your income positive but cash flow negative? Why? Are you paying too much for interest, or are your customers putting off your bills until 90 days out? 180 days out? Do you have too much business debt--will you need to recapitalize? Don't just learn what each line item is, but learn some financial ratios, such as gearing/leverage, and the current/quick ratios.
What do you love most about your job?
Problem Solving and when we get a "Head scratching" problem, solving it after hours in local cigar lounge. Then planning so the client does not repeat the original mistake.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My Father-in-law started the company 33 years in Waterbury, CT. We helped to expand the company.
