Just to let you know up front, you check in at the bar in the bar and grill located on the first floor. This is a nice, reasonably priced place to stay conveniently located near Steamboat Springs which is about 30 minutes away and all of the hiking, hunting and fishing conveniently located throughout the region. I stayed in the 2 room suite which comes with a small, but well equipped kitchen that includes pots and pans to cook with as well as silverware and dishes. The place is aesthetically pleasing, neat and clean, and offers plenty of room. The staff in the bar who help you are polite and professional. The room was located above a bar and grill which shuts down at 9 pm most nights and at midnight on weekends. I was worried that the place would be seedy and loud since the place is located above a bar. That was not the case while I was there. I heard little, if any, noise from the bar while in the room at night. The crowd in the bar appeared to be made up of small town working people who were generally quiet which was a refreshing change from the pretentious crowds in Steamboat Springs. Wild Goose Coffee at the Granary is located within walking distance of the hotel and I recommend that you go there for your coffee Monday through Saturday when it is open as opposed to the local gas stations. What a find! Rolled in to town hungry and took a chance. Wow. What a surprisingly great meal. We had the special of the day, pulled pork sandwich. Fresh, home made sauce to go with it. I did not go to the grill but I am currently staying in the lodge portion and it was surprisingly fantastic!!! I have a little suite with a kitchenette, murphy bed and a nice bathroom that is perfect for a one night stay on long term.
