I had a really lovely stay at the Hilton Garden Inn New York/Midtown. It was one of the less expensive Hilton properties in Manhattan leading up to New Year's Eve and was a great choice. My attempted early check-in at 11:30 was too early (which I expected) but I was able to leave my bags to roam the city a bit. The lobby is nicely decorated and the front desk agent was kind and helpful.Upon my return (around 5:15), a room was ready, my bags were collected, and I headed up stairs. I had a corner room and really appreciated the layout of the room. A long shelf along one wall served as the the desk and TV stand. The bed faced it with the windows behind. It was really comfortable and well-arranged. The bathroom was lovely as well especially the shower. I didn't spend much time in the room. But the bed served its purpose and provided me a good night's sleep.This location was great as it takes you a bit away from the hustle of Harold Square, Bryant Park, and Times Square. I'd absolutely stay here again.The one reason for four stars instead of five: I found the walls to be a bit thin. Most noises could be ignored but the wailing baby at 6:30am was difficult to ignore. Super clean and modern. Stayed in a suite with a king bed and a full size sofa bed - great for traveling families. Felt spacious. Pool and spa looked clean (didn't use due to rain & colder temp) and gym was equipped well. Only down-fall is their snack selection in their little convenience store - super expensive and limited. Room had a mini-fridge, so if you're traveling with a family like we were make sure to grab something to bring with you. For the 3rd year in a row we stayed at this location. We always get a corner Times Square view and book months in advance for our annual Christmas NYC vacation. This year it was Dec 12-16, 2019 and had the same room as last year. Keeping this in mind the view hasn't changed - probably the best view for the price. King Corner Suite. We used the Hilton app to secure our room early and check in was easy. Being gold honors members we get free breakfast or you can use the breakfast cards for $10 in the grab and go store but keep in mind a 20 oz soda is $6 at the store so I recommend walking over to the Walgreens and get snacks and drinks. The room has a comfy bed, a storage wardrobe, safe, coffee maker and a small fridge. The bathroom is nice and the water pressure is AWESOME! Nice towels and toiletries are on par with this brand of Hilton property. The hotel is going on 4 years old so it is no longer NEW and is starting to show signs of customer abuse. Our room had a bad plaster job on a hole in the bathroom. The toilet seat is plastic and could be replaced. I love the mattress but our bed was starting to get the body indentations from a few years of constant use so hopefully they have a mattress replacement plan. We didn't really use the TV but it's a standard 42" LCD, the only issue I had is it should be mounted on a pull out swivel so you can view it better from the bed. My other personal pet peeve is the desk chair was always in the way. This is due to the room layout and limited space. They pack a lot into a small footprint. When you enter the hotel for the first time or to go to reception or to see the concierge you need to go to the 4th floor. The hotel restaurant is also located on this floor. They have 3 guest elevators and only 2 worked for most of our stay. They can get busy during regular check in and check out times. With all the cons I listed you might question why I gave it 5 stars. Primarily because the best bang for the buck due to the great location near Times Square. We will book our Christmas 2020 room as soon as they become available on the app. More...

Right off the freeway in a great car central location of Monterey(not the best for walking).This hotel is actually pretty old and you can tell by the piping, walls, short cieling, etc. I do think they are doing a great job with that all considered.Fitness room 9/10 - Very good - lots of machines, free weights, bars, etc.Pool - 9/10 - Swimmable, heated, and a hot tub. There is a fire pit, plenty of seating, and a game of corn hole. We got free smores the night we were there.There is starbucks coffee and hot water fresh in the lobby at most times.The rooms are clean and have all the typical amenities including refrigerators and microwaves.Most rooms have a small balcony or outdoor area.If you have kids make sure you go to dennis the menace park nearby.Its nice being right next to the freeway because its easy to go just about anywhere in the area. A must stay in this quaint city, wont be disappointed. The staff are so nice and will go out of their way to help you in anyway. You can’t go wrong once you walk in the lobby and are greeted by the delicious stack of donuts waiting for you to decorate them to your liking. Next to the donut bar is the warm and cozy hot chocolate bar full of fabulous marshmallows, sprinkles and a variety of chips to add to you cup of cheer. The Hilton Garden Inn Midtown/Park Ave was the perfect place to stay in December as I wanted to get in the Holiday Spirit! When you walk in you see beautiful Christmas trees, a small lobby, and the check in desk. In the morning they have coffee out and in the afternoon and evening they have water and tea out. Check in was super easy. They had my room ready for me at around 12:30 when I arrived. I am a Hilton Gold member and they usually offer early check in to me. I was on the 17th floor, in a corner room and in a king suite. My room didn't really have a view, but it was okay. My room was a king suite and was pretty big. I for sure did not feel cramped inside. The room had the best restroom/shower. The shower was sliding glass doors. The TV in the room is small, but for me I just hang things on them. I never turn on the tv. The room came with a kurig to make coffee. The room also has a microwave, fridge and desk area. Great thing about NYC is they allow you to open the windows for some fresh air. Unfortunately the sirens and noise was to much for me. As soon as I shut the window it was pure silence and I loved it. No closet in the room but that's okay. The elevators worked great and never had to wait long for them. Hotel offers a great business center in the basement! Overall a wonderful stay here! I highly recommend it for a work trip or a vacation. About 10 blocks from Rockefeller center and close to Penn Station and plenty of other things to do! Also 4 subway stops right outside the door! Sort of a sparse hotel, and only stayed in it once, but it's affordable, union, and close to the Emeryville what not, including the Public Market. Room wasn't spectacular, but it did the job, and the jacuzzi was enjoyable. I went twice, and just walked through the fitness center which was well-equipped. They Emeryville Go-Around shuttle also gets near, so you have lots of options when it comes to transportation. More...

Stayed here for one night recently. I wish I had stayed here a little longer.For the record, the hotel is undergoing a major refresh, and as such they are doing construction work in the Lobby, and two elevators are out of service. But even with all of that, the staff here was very friendly, professional, and made things work all of the way around.When I arrived, I was a bit early and my room was not ready yet. The bell staff not only held open the door for me to get my bags in, but held the bags until my room was ready (and it was ready 2 hours before 3:00pm check-in, mind you!)The room itself was a nicely sized room, with a huge bathroom (as in two people could fit in there), a nice shower with great temperature and pressure), and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in - in a while. Put all of this together with the fact that the hotel is right across the street from a Metro station, and transit time to the airport is only 15 minutes, makes this a 5 star property, even if construction is going on!This will be my new go-to hotel whenever my travels bring me to DC. Yeah the lobby may be a bit cramped due to construction, and yeah there are only two elevators in service out of 4, but the location, comfort, and professionalism of the staff outweigh those two minor inconveniences. We were really impressed with this hotel, it exceeded our expectations, price was decent, rooms were clean, staff was friendly, elevators were fast, check-in/out was real easy. The location was great with a Subway entry nearly right outside the front door, we even had a decent view of the Macy's day parade from our window, we went way uptown to watch it from the street then jumped on the subway and came back to the room to watch it again from the comfort of our room. We've stayed at this Hilton Garden many times when visiting Longwood Gardens. The rooms are comfortable with fridge, microwave, lots of outlets and USB ports, nice desk and chair plus small gym and pool. That said...breakfast is $$, dinner only M-F, limited parking shared with 2 restaurants, and rooms are clean but really need some updates and paint. Also our room was on the 1st floor and we could hear kids screaming in the pool until late, the roar of the hot tub and a party in the meeting rooms with LOUD music, drunk/loud attendees who took over the entire first floor.||||We will definitely stay here again because of the location but the catered event was really a frustrating addition and next time I will specifically request to be well away from the pool and the meeting rooms. Also only 2 handicapped parking spaces shared with the nearby restaurants is unacceptable. More...

We stayed here for 1 night while traveling to Chicago. This hotel is maybe 10 or 11 years old. It was clean, probably remodeled, no particular problems noted. There's a restaurant on premises for some food.Two things to note, it's in an area of maybe a dozen hotels. It's hard to figure out how to get to it, and the driveway is dirt due to ongoing construction. We would stay again. Recommended! More...

Great check-in experience. Large, new, clean hotel. In a convenient location. Half an hour from Solvang and about an hour from Santa Barbara. The pillows, however, can really use an upgrade. I loved this hotel!! The staff very friendly and accommodating. I came with a cake for a party the next day and they graciously went above and beyond and offered to put it in their large refrigerator. The rooms were spotless, the balcony was huge. Love Keurig in the room. Bed was comfy and good water pressure. Larger than average hotel room. Very central to everything in Monterey. They have room service which was excellent. I will be back. We stayed here for 5 nights and had a very good experience. The room was quiet even though we were overlooking 14th St. You can't beat the location as we were only 3 blocks from the White House. The hotel is across the street from the McPherson Metro station and close to buses and the DC Circulator. I want to share a story about true hospitality! I was a little restless tonight and kinda wanted a snack. I went down and didn't really see anything I wanted in the shop area. I went to check out and Robyn, the super sweet girl working, was like that's a good choice! I had Oreos and chocolate milk... I was like yea I guess but I was wanting cereal I just didn't see any there. She then proceeded to take me over to the breakfast area and get me a bowl of cereal! She could have just brushed me off and and told em breakfast will be ready in the morning, but no. She stopped her work to help me fulfill a late night snack craving. The hotel is handily located once you find it. Luckily 2 wonderful locals helped us finding the correct roads and recommended the adjacent Jake's Burgers & Shakes for a quick dinner. ||||This Hilton is getting a little worn and probably could use some upgrading. The furniture and various things in the hall are scratched and beat up. Its not what we normally expect form the Garden Inns. Honestly at this particular moment some of the Hampton Inn and Suites and Home 2 hotels are nicer and more fresh.||||Areas that get a lot of visitation seem to get that way...Some people just beat things up and are careless. Very nice accommodations really close to Longwood Gardens. The staff at the desk was friendly when I checked in but didn't offer any special advice about the hotel or surrounding area and they certainly have much to offer. She did ask if I had any questions, but if you've never been here before you really don't know what you don't know. I ate dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. I believe the waitress was fairly new and seemed very unsure of herself but the food was good. I am here for a short stay so so overall, it didn't impact me much but I've stayed at many hotels recently and there is a distinct difference between decent service and outstanding. More...
