Best Place To Stay When Visiting Minneapolis! ALYSSA at the front desk is beyond amazing - she is perfect at making you feel at home away from home. Alyssa went above and beyond, something I greatly appreciated after a long flight. She is truly magnificent and even pronounced my name right on the first try (which for others can be a challenge, but not for Alyssa!). I also dined at the hotel restaurant - another win! DANTE is the man to see! He had excellent menu recommendations (Margarita Flatbread) and gave us a little info/history on the city. This really has been the best hotel experience I've had in a long time. The phrase Minnesota Nice must have originated here! ;) More...

I wish I could give this hotel 4.5 stars but they'll have to settle with 4. I'm definitely not disappointed with this hotel for a few different reasons. First, this hotel is all about convenience: you are literally across the street from the convention center and four blocks away from the entertainment area of Minneapolis. Second, this has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time and I'm glad Hilton caught up, WiFi is free. It drives me crazy when you have to pay for WiFi in 2019 and Hilton offers their guests free WiFi (Hyatt, catch up). Third, the staff is friendly. I'm from Chicago so I tend to be more straight forward and to the point than other people so when someone can roll with it and be direct, it impresses me. The front staff are all very nice and accommodating. Fourth, the beds are super comfy. I LOVED their beds! I have a hard time falling asleep, especially when it's silent, but I almost instantly fell asleep which was awesome. The cons: offer people free water. I know they have free water in the lobby, but the two water bottles in the room should be free, then after the first two, charge. Attention to detail goes a long way, so fix the leaky faucet (bathtub) in room 615. Parking is suuuuuuuper expensive at $28 a day, BUT, again, you are directly across the street from the convention center. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. It's a small hotel in a very convenient spot. More...

This is a fairly new Hilton Garden Inn located near Downtown Minneapolis.  I say that because while it is technically downtown, you sure can't walk anywhere from here.  It is several blocks from any of the main offices/entertainment and is not connected to the indoor tunnel system. The hotel itself is very nice.  Cozy lobby, bustling bar and nice rooms make it enjoyable to stay here.  The front desk staff was very friendly at check in and throughout.  They have you play Plinko for extra HHonors points at check - fun touch!   My room was a very good size and up to date.  The small kitchenette was handy and bathroom was decent.  I slept very well on the soft bed and didn't hear any nighttime noise on the 10th floor. If you are looking to stay at a reasonably priced Hilton property near downtown then this is your place. Staff was really great at this hotel.  So friendly every time you come in the door, ready to answer all the questions (fastest route to convention center, places to run, places to eat, time to the airport, etc).  Room was as expected, with fridge, microwave, and Keurig for coffee. Water pressure wasn't great on the 8th floor.  I had a view of the church and convention center, but didn't hear too much of the construction noise.  Maid left an inspirational note each day, which very much enhanced the empowerment message of the conference I was attending.Exercise room was spacious enough with treadmills, ellipticals, and at least one bike in addition to the free weights, large mirrors, weight bench, towels and water cooler.  There was a pool as well, but I didn't bring my suit.  Though it is a little farther to the restaurants and attractions, it's so close to the convention center. Staff was very helpful, not in your face trying hard for a survey style (if you know what I mean), but you could tell it was natural, they would be this way 24/7/365. As a hospitality insider, it really resonated thus my 5 star review. Besides the people the bones were average, the decor felt outdated, and the amenities were regular. In other words, fair delivery for the price point but given its 2018 I think I can safely say with traveler expectations no one would report being overwhelmed. Dining: This is really a two part story, dinner service was above average, with an unexpected great bacon cheeseburger paired perfect with a few Miller lites. Minneapolis, I felt I barely got to see even 1% of what you had to offer but I can't wait to come back and really get to know you. Sorry...got lost there in s fond memory. Where was I Ah yeah, the second part. American Cheese Onelette combo with side of breakfast potatoes and three kiddie sized sausage they called it. I paired it with a coffee and small glass of OJ after a nice 30 minute treadmill session (watching breaking news about someone trying to blow up Robert Deniro was on CNN - what the F3CK) - so aka my stomach was in need of refuel going into this standard weekly special breakfast. Well congratulations Chef & Accomplices (yes, all of you in kitchen helping, grille manager, accounting department for probably not allowing enough funds on quality produce/product, hotel gm because it's all your property - connect the dots!). Ok, back on track, well my Cal Ripken like streak of clearing my food plate was snapped by breakfast. I ate nothing more cooked from there. Sorry night staff, your day shift is ruining the overall experience. Might be time for some teammate shift changes to train day crew on basics, like how to make an omelette. You ever heard of some reviewing an omelette. That's how gross it was. Other than that, room was very clean, housekeeping staffing I bumped into were smiling and offered assistance which was nice since I was here a few nights and didn't get any personal room service. Valet service was flawless, friendly and efficient. On my arrival provided me spot on directions to a nearby CVS. I guess on second look back maybe they should have mentioned the pantry which pretty much had everything I bought. But I've definitely encountered much worse so again my hat is off to the people of HGI. When I am back in town I will stay here. Minneapolis I see you. Hilton, I hope since your saving on facilities these people better be at high end for market rate at their roles. They are your hotel. More...

Nice, new hotel within walking distance to many sights and attractions downtown, including restaurants, music venues, theaters, baseball stadium and arena. When I booked it, I found this Hilton Garden Inn to be much cheaper than other nearby hotels (many of which are a bit fancier, though).Rooms were pretty typical for a new hotel -- modern design complete with clean sheets and a working flatscreen TV with LOTS of Christian channels (must be a Minnesota thing?).The lobby area is nice. Complimentary coffee and even free salsa and mustard packs for your microwavable items. There was a cool little business center where busy work guys could pull up a seat and seriously get some business done i.e. surf a few of their favorite sites, print some sheets and send them via fax to other business guys out there in the world. Continental breakfast in the morning, so all the usual mushy junk plus fresh fruit.Nice, private patio in the back for hotel patrons that proved a good spot for hanging out with buds and for my friends to smoke in peace, as you'll likely get hit up for spare change if you stand out front for more than a few minutes. Spectacular Hotel, Great Location, Outstanding ServiceRecently I traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota from Portland, Oregon to be with my sick mother.  From August 25th to August 29th my family stayed while I stayed with my mother in the hospital and on September 22 and 23rd we visited for my mother's funeral.  While this was a sad time for our family, we really appreciated the convenient location, service and facility at the Hilton Garden Inn.  A few specific incidents come to mind.  First, when we weren't at the hospital, we were able to get to restaurants and shops on foot, but if we needed to drive, we were right off the highway that goes through Downtown.  While we parked one car with valet (service was great), on Sunday, August 28th we decided to take the kids (and my father) to the new Vikings stadium for its first game (pre-season).  Because of the location, I planned to valet park my father's car at the hotel, but the valet said "hey, you already have a car here, so if you just want to park for the game, you can park across the street on the street while the game is on to save some money." Which we did. When we came back for my mother's funeral, Jane at the front desk asked how my mother was doing, because she knew she was sick.  The staff left a sympathy card in the room.Overall, to me, this hotel which has great rooms and outstanding services, and seems like it should be a four or five star level rather than three.  And my overall personal experience was certainly five stars. The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Minneapolis was a good stay. While I wasn't particularly "wowed" by much of anything, it was more-than-acceptable for what I needed. The room was comfortable and had great AC and was extremely clean. We did have some issues, but it isn't anything that would prevent us from coming back in the future.STUFF TO KNOW: -There isn't a dedicated self-parking lot as I was told by staff. It's $24 per night (unlimited in/out) for valet parking. -Pool room just has a pool. No hot tub.-Only accessible by a one-way street. You'll most-likely have to drive around the block to go in the one-way area. The roads around the hotel are kind of a pain, but you'll get it figured out after the first time you do it.-The conference center is less than a block away. For coffee lovers, there's a Dunn Bros in that conference center.Pros:-Fitness area was fantastic. All the stuff was new. Room was a bit small, but it had enough cardio machines and free weights to get you what you needed to get.-Three concurrent elevators mean that you very rarely waited long to get on an elevator. Very good system.-Room was very clean and organized. Building is very easy to get around. Hate revolving doors as a general rule, but it has a standard exit door right next to it as well.-Room comes with mini fridge (you need to turn it on), microwave, and Keurig machine. All seemed to be clean and in fine, functioning order.-In the 90+ degree weather, these rooms are nicely insolated, and it's amazing to come into a nice, frigid breeze after the weather. We only kept it at 68 and were nearly-cold, so it retains chill perfectly. AC worked great.-We came during Pride. They were offering on the half-hour-shuttles to the Pride festival for free. The shuttle driver was friendly enough, and they quickly picked us up when called as well.Cons:-The sink in the bathroom wasn't working at all. The drain was entirely plugged and wouldn't drain. -The valet system is different than any other system that we've ever used. Granted, this is partially our fault for having two car keys. We were in a hurry, so when we went to pick up our car (this hotel only offers valet service at $24 a night or you'll need to find your own space in the downtown area to park), we found it out front, used our key, and left. It wasn't until a couple hours later that we realized we were short one key - and the valet still had it. When we went to pick it up, they argued with us that there was no possible way that it happens and told us we were wrong and must have lost it. After checking through all their keys, they found it and said it was, again, our fault for not checking into the valet booth to pick up our key. Every other valet service I've used leaves the key in the car, usually running (especially on 90+ degree days for the AC), to be simple. Make sure you pay attention.-This is an odd complaint, but the duvet and blankets they have on the bed are LOUD. In a double-bed room, the crinkling was loud enough to wake up both people on the other bed if someone in the bed moved the sheets. It was odd. More...

A few moments later, there was a soft knock on our door. The young man found a pair and delivered them to my roommate. He even brought a few pieces of candy to brighten up the moment. The bartender is also very helpful. My first night there I got in after 10pm. Due to getting on an earlier flight to prevent delays, I hadn't eaten all day with my travels. This place is a great price for the location next to downtown, however it is kind of tricky to actually drive to. Once you master the one way streets in downtown though it is a piece of cake. The employees were very nice and the downstairs check-in/bar area is very clean and well laid out. The breakfast (although a little expensive) is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend getting one of the omelettes. We went back in the bar/breakfast area one afternoon during our stay and had a great time watching television and enjoying the hotel bar's happy hour. The room was very comfortable and I loved the firm bed. They have an excellent cable package and great air conditioning that cooled the room down quickly. With the hotel being so close to downtown you will get an excellent view from your room window no matter where your room is located in the hotel.I think the only drawback is the parking/valet situation. I have read a few reviews of people complaining about having to pay so much per day for parking. I think the hotel would just be better off raising the rates of the rooms so people never have to see the $24/day valet charge on their bill.
