How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
There are many ways that you can convert your outbuilding or garages - you may need planning permission or just building regulations. You can always contact us to discuss your options.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
First establish whether you require planning permission or building regulations. You could have an architect draw up your plans or you may simply wish to work closely with your builder.
The first stage will be to block the existing garage door and install a window; the floor will need to be broken up and a new DPM fitted along with insulation and new sub flooring. Supply new electrics to power lights and sockets; walls will need to be insulated, boarded and skimmed ready for finish. Final phase will be to knock through to existing house (if attached) and prep and decorate.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
When assessing a potential loft conversion, measure the space where there is a clear headroom of 2.0 / 2.1m or more between the joist and rafters. Once the floor has been built up and the roof insulated - this will leave you with 1.9 / 2.0m of head room which is the minimum practical ceiling height. Another good way to establish whether your property is suitable for a conversion is to view neighboring properties; you can also contact a local architect to view (free of charge) and discuss your options

We feel its hugely important to offer a personal service, with our family run business we can offer just that!
We have build our business solely on reputation and that is very rewarding for us, its lovely to begin a project with our customer and see the final master piece and how grateful our customers are, and that's what we love about the job!
What inspired you to start your own business?
We have always worked in the building industry, but in the beginning Jason (owner) worked for himself; before long we knew Jason simply couldn't carrying out the work by himself. Slowly we recruited other tradesmen to join Hillrose and the team began to grow, not too big, we still like to remain a small team with a personal service. Myself (Clare, Jason wife); left her job and began to look for an office/base to work from. Slowing our children left school and have joined the business!
