In our home we had a Master bedroom light with a mind of its own turning off randomly. In addition, we had a burn mark on a kitchen outlet, an outside outlet that kept tripping and a garage light switch that was getting stuck. Called Matt at Hi-lite. The power line to my house was damaged when a branch from a nearby tree fell on it. The line was later disconnected by the utility because it was unsafe. I had to immediately find a contactor to do the repairs required for reconnection as there was no electricity in my house! Hi-Lite Electric was the only contractor that was able to send a technician the same day. Angie was extremely responsive on the phone. The technician (Matthew) who came to assess the damage explained to me in detail what needed to be done. Matthew and his brother Steven were able to start work very early the next day to do the repairs. Once they were finished they handled all the formalities with the Electricity Safety Authority (Hi-Lite Electric is part of their Authorized Contractor Program) and the utility for the reconnection. The utility technician who came later in the day for the reconnection specifically told me that the repair work done was amongst the best he had ever seen. When we bought our new property, Matthew was the Master Electrician that provided a thorough safety inspection of the electrical in our barn. He gave us several recommendations to remove shock hazards. He checked our home electrical as well and made suggestions on how to upgrade our smoke detector system. I retained Hi Lite to fix an issue with lighting in a small bathroom, to address a number of visible deficiencies and incomplete work (odds and end) from previous recent renovations, as well as to install new fixtures. Alan provided a quote after a visit to my home and was able to schedule the work soon after. While here Alan observed some issues resulting from incorrect wiring during a recent reno and provided an immediate estimate to undertake this work ... the same day. Wow. That is the best word I can think of to describe the work that Alan and Steven did in my home. I had a number of fixtures (including a ceiling fan) to be hung. I also wanted remotes and dimmers installed outside. Alan reviewed the work with my son and called me at work to tell me how they would proceed and the cost. On the call he made some great recommendations and ended up saving me money on a fixture I had purchased. When I got home all the work was complete and it was done perfectly. There wasn’t even a speck of dust to be seen! They are highly professional, knowledgeable electricians. Matt and Steven completed several difficult installations of light fixtures and fans in our house. I cannot express how high my impression of Hi Lite Electrical was. From the first phone call to discuss my issue with Angie, to the experienced electrician Matt and the intern, sorry forgot his name. When Matt arrived he showed me all the credentials for himself and the company and looked at my issue, he immediately determined that who ever installed the light in my laundry room did a very poor job that could have led to some serious and dangerous issues. He explained exactly what was wrong and what needed to be accomplished to ensure my condo was up to code and safe.
The fee for the work they did was very reasonable and infact, less than I was expecting after all the work they had to do.I would recommend this company to anyone who needs professional and friendly electrical work. More...

Good electricians aren't cheap. So you'd better be sure to call in an excellent one if you're going to spend the money. When the lights in my dining room, kitchen and backyard stopped working, I called in Matthew from Hi-Lite. It took him just over an hour to track down the source of the outage and it was far from where I expected it to be. He replaced a plug upstairs that was causing the problem downstairs, put everything he'd taken apart back where it belonged, and the lights came back on. It's the second time I've need Hi-Lite's help in a few years and the second time they came on the same day. It was an expensive lesson about running a heater that burned out the outlet, but now I know how to prevent it from happening again. I found Hi-lite Electric on line when I needed an electrical repair to fix a problem with my oven. This was the best interaction I have ever had when having a repair of any type done in the house. The customer service team on the phone were empathic, professional and I felt that they genuinely wanted to help me. I felt very reassured by them that the Hi-Lite team would be able to solve my issue. When Jeff and Steven arrived (on time) they quickly diagnosed my problem, provided a written quote and efficiently fixed the issue. We called Hi-Lite Electric to fix a circuit that wasn't working in our kitchen (I had three plugs on one wall that haven't been working ever since we'd moved here). We also had them replace a bunch of dimmers (and a couple of old light fixtures) because our old dimmers didn't work with LED bulbs. The lights in my bathroom go off intermittently for no reason. Matthew came over and looked at this problem, and a couple of other electrical issues in my home. Matthew & Stephen were very professional and communicative. They came within hours and since they don't charge by the hour, but by the service required to fix the problem, they were thorough in their work and took the time to explain the problem and solution.
Before beginning the repair, they sat down and showed me the certificates of insurance, WSIB coverage, the electrician qualifications, and explained the pricing structure. They were organized and did a great job.
