Helen made our family portrait and I (mum) was slightly worried my daughters would not smile or act silly etc. but Helen was amazing with them (and with me and my husband! ), relaxed and happy to follow their lead meant we now have such lovely spontaneous photos that really bring home what we are about as a family. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Light!
Photography is all about the light, learning how to read and understand lighting situations is a critical skill in photography. To harness, control and manipulate or create the light then powers the creative concept, to capture a mood, preserve memories, record history etc. Whatever the genre, it's still all about light.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Whom or what is to be photographed
The 'why' - or the purpose of the photograph. What message(s) are to be incorporated into the image or what story is to be told.
What do you love most about your job?
I have always been creative and I love to have a creative outlet but in photography there is also a very technical side to it which is both challenging and satisfying, there is also a social element in it, working with clients and communicating through imagery.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The freedom to create and help clients get what they want.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I really care about achieving the clients goals, I am very passionate about photography, my personal photographs are my most valued possessions and I love to provide that same value for my clients.
