Sunnyvale, CA , July 11, 2016 - Lives can be saved when sudden heart problems are diagnosed and treated from home, office or anywhere in the world there’s a smart phone or Internet computer, using a new portable and miniature electrocardiograph developed by Silicon Valley firm, HeartIn, Inc.
Beginning today HeartIn, Inc. is using crowd funding site Indiegogo.com, to seek funds to get FDA and CE approval to license its revolutionary, personal electrocardiograph, which already is manufactured and in production. FDA and European licensing, testing and approval is expensive and is necessary before this working device can be marketed in the USA and European countries.
In crowd funding, the public invests in a startup firm in return for various ‘rewards’ which in this case may include a personal HeartIn electrocardiograph for an introductory investment of $240. Normal price is $280.
Initially HeartIn, Inc. seeks $50,000 as minimum it will need towards FDA approval. The HeartIn ECG will be sold worldwide, and for sales in the UK and Europe it will also need UK and EU expensive approval by agencies for those countries.
HeartIn‘s new invention is a miniature, go-anywhere, portable, 12-lead electrocardiograph so small it will fit in a man’s shirt pocket.
This ultra miniature HeartIn electrocardiograph will connect someone with heart problems to a certified cardiologist within minutes through a central computer server from anywhere in the world.
All that the sufferer, friends or relatives need do is simply attach sensors to the person’s torso according to an easy-to-read diagram, connect sensors to a smart phone or Internet computer, and the signal will automatically summon the central server which will signal a 24-hour on-call cardiologist who will begin diagnosis and on-line treatment.
The whole process from onset of symptoms to start of a cardiologist’s assessment can take as little as 15 to 20 minutes.
The computer server senses the HeartIn signal and automatically summons an attending cardiologist, and, no matter the hour or day, a diagnosis and treatment can be performed. This is a form of telemedicine.
The watchword in treatment of heart disease is that the first hour after major symptoms is the Golden Hour, when heart damage can sometimes be reversed or at least minimized. The sooner a cardiologist’s finding, the sooner treatment can begin, and the less cardiac damage may occur.
Of course in the most serious and major cases an ambulance to the hospital would be summoned right away, but in less clear cases the HeartIn miniature electrocardiograph may end up saving lives by making clear who is suffering from a heart attack and who is suffering from other symptoms that are not heart related.
No one in distress need wait in traffic, wait in congested doctor’s waiting rooms, deal with overworked office personnel, and wait and wonder whether symptoms are heart-related or not. The HeartIn ECG on-call cardiologist provides an answer about whether it’s a heart problem and of what sort almost immediately.
HeartIn also will benefit others who need periodic ECGs such as diabetic sufferers who need an electrocardiography monthly or quarterly. ‘Imagine the savings in time and energy when those who need periodic electrocardiography can have them done in the privacy of home, office, or virtually any other place, compared to the half day or day it takes to have a traditional ECG done in a cardiologist’s office,’ said HeartIn spokesman, V.P.
