It's no wonder Sonnenberg has won the couple's choice awards five years in a row. Deb and the team at Sonnenberg were accommodating from the first time we met up until the day of the wedding. Not one thing was overlooked and every guest loved the grounds, cocktail, and reception area. For a perfect night, book your reception with Sonnenberg. More...

We worked with Deb and Jennifer on a small, intimate wedding during August. We had a very unconventional and simple ceremony and they both were more than accommodating. They were responsible, helpful & enthusiastic from our first discussion to the final details on our special day. The weather was back & forth between thunderstorms and hot, sunny weather all day on our wedding, and Deb made us feel completely relaxed as we evaluated options. Our guests loved the gardens and the mansion as well. It's a beautiful place that everyone can enjoy & I would recommend it to anyone for any size wedding. More...

She was very responsive via phone and email and made sure I had everything I needed and more during our special day! My daughter had her wedding and reception at Sonnenberg Gardens on May 25, 2019. My daughter was dealing with side effects from cancer treatment and so some special accommodations were made in the tent to provide her with an area where she could sit and receive guests. Their wedding was out by the pond and grotto. I cannot say enough about the job that Deb and her staff did. They bent over backward to allow us in early to decorate the day before, helped coordinate with the caterer, baker, florist and DJ. The wedding, as 1 guest said, was epic. I would recommend this venue over and over again.
Thank you to the Sonnenberg staff for making that day something they will always treasure.

We hadn't ever been to Sonnenberg  Gardens in the nice weather- just one frigid December night years ago for the Christmas display.  We picked a beautiful day where it wasn't crowded.  Enjoyed all the gardens - esp. the Japanese garden.   The mansion had a ton of history of the owners- the Thompson's- with plenty of antique original artifacts for the historically curious.      Well worth the time and admission for a 1-2 hour stroll back to a peaceful time. What a great hidden gem! We've been coming to the area for years and never came here. The mansion is wonderful. My 9 year old spent at least an hour and a half and he still wasn't ready to leave. The docent was wonderful, telling him about the "secret passageways" and turning on the music box.The gardens were beautiful, especially the Japanese garden. Going through the old greenhouses was fun. Look for the green glass patches in the grass, there are mushroom growing rooms underground! We ate at the Cafe and the food was both fresh and delicious. Plan on eating here. The kids grilled cheese is "phenomenal" according to my 9 year old. The service was also very good. More...

Sonnenberg Gardens is a mansion sitting on a beautiful property with expansive manicured gardens and scenery. There is a rock garden, some fountains and a columned pergola, and TONS of space to walk around smelling the flowers. Guided tours are available in both the house and on the grounds, but I personally find it most enjoyable to stroll about at my own pace. On my last visit, I walked around simply to breathe it in and take pictures. There is a cafe and from I've heard, they can act as a wedding venue as well.I highly recommend a picnic in the grass under some trees. More...

Sonnenberg has great events and beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. My husband and I were married June 2016, in the garden, with the reception in the mansion and on the porch. It's a state park, so event manager is not a wedding planner; ie: hire one or prepare to be very involved in the process. Do no get ready in the bridal chamber in the summer-- the a/c is inadequate. We found our wedding car and driver at Sonnenberg's vintage car show; he had also been married at Sonnenberg. More...

High Noon Café makes the absolute best smoothies in town. Light, refreshing, and delicious. Not too sugary and made with real fruit, just like the menu says. After a few hours walking around the majestically scenic Sonnenberg Gardens, this was the perfect thing. They were really flexible about the menu (whose layout is cute, simple, and stylish), and they were happy to mix fruits for a custom smoothie, which turned out delicious. 5 stars for service, 5 stars for taste, 5 stars for charm. I have paid far more for subpar smoothies. What a lovely cafe, will visit again. More...

Last minute I decided that I wanted to have music at my wedding. I was not really sure where to go or where to look. And then I came across Heartfelt Harmonies. Thankful they were available on our date, I booked them last minute.
I'm not really sure where to start because I have been so taken back by the compassion, helpfulness and professional that both Alexandra and Nichole portrayed.
The Wednesday before our wedding I reached out to see if they were available to come for our rehearsal, without question they said they would be there. Both Alexandra and Nichole are genuine individuals who both love the work they do, you can clearly see that through the quality of work they display.
At the wedding Heartfelt Harmonies played during the ceremony and during cocktail hour. I'm so thankful to have had them as part of my day. The music was absolutely wonderful. We received numerous compliments. Thank you both so very much for making my ceremony and wedding so incredibly special. I would HIGHLY recommend hiring Heartfelt Harmonies for any wedding or party!! Thank you again! ❤️

Alexandra played beautifully, was very easy to work with, and helped make the event a memorable one. Multiple guests commented on how great the piano playing was. Heartfelt Harmonies we had Alexandra Pond who plays the piano for our ceremony musician - which I kind of booked only a month in advance and THANK GOD I DID! Alexandra was always keeping in constant communication with me, she was so wonderful to work with, and kept my wishes! I really hoped to keep the processional song, and the song I walked down to a secret, but was so nervous and concerned about the timing. Alexandra was so kind, to calm my nerves, she came to our rehearsal to watch the timing and how it was all going to go so that she could get on cue with our officiant (who was my grandma) and make sure that the timing of the songs to people walking down was perfect! I mean literally - it was perfect! During rehearsal I though to make it work I was going to have to have her play the songs, but she said "Absolutely not! We're going to make it work". Seriously she was so amazing. I waited until last minute because I kept going back and forth on if we had it in the budget to get a ceremony musician or not and ultimately we did not. Then I saw someone post that they were looking for someone under a certain price range and I saw her comment. Once I checked out her page I knew I had to have her! She is so worth every penny. Not only that, she was so kind to send us the sweetest gift after the wedding as well. You will not regret spending the extra money on Alexandra! More...

What an unexpectedly wonderful treasure to find in Canandaigua! A colleague and I stopped here after a local conference and wound up spending an entire day here. The $14 admission (with AAA discounts available for $12 admission) included the greenhouses, gardens, and mansion visit. We opted to do a wine tasting ($6 for 5 wines) and our time there with Donna made the day; she was so much fun to talk to and made some great wine recommendations (and also didn't bat at eye or write me off when I said that I didn't know much about wine or why I like or don't like different kinds). The wines on the tasting and available in the gift shop were all very reasonably priced; I think the most expensive was around $18 and they seemed to average around $11-12. If you do a tasting, you are eligible for a discount on the wine you might want to purchase (but the wine is for sale upstairs in the gift shop, so there is no expectation or pressure to buy anything whatsoever). The staff here is largely volunteer and they are woefully in need of more bodies - so please be kind to the volunteers, especially as they may require your patience. The mansion is a bit different from other historic houses I have visited in that you rarely find a rope and are able to freely wander through the home, with docents available to answer any questions. I would have loved a full on tour if there were more docents available. The grounds were beautiful to walk through and there is also a cafe on site with reasonably priced crepes. Overall, we had a wonderful day here and would recommend a stop here for wine, flowers, and a gorgeous old home. More...
