We sought Headway Tutors help last year. We had just moved my son into Reception Year mid-year from abroad. My son needed support with his Set 1 phonics and special friend recognition, letter and number formation and basic cvc word building exercises. We saw his reading progress remarkably as he moved from one reading level to the next until he reached the targets set for Reception Year. As for his writing, he went from writing a couple of letters from every word to full sentences independently. The tutors' methods helped my son gain confidence and set him on the right path for reading and writing. I have tried different tutors in the past for my son and I wish I had found Headway Tutors sooner. By far the best. Practically everything you and your child needs for the eleven plus and more. There is advice on hand, support and information regarding choosing the right school. Sophie has been amazing, she has a great nack of making learning fun in small groups which was a massive confidence boost for my son. What do you love most about your job?
I feel very fortunate to work in a sector that is constantly innovating and changing. My company prides itself on using the latest teaching methodology and resources. This allows all of our students, regardless of ability or learning styles, to access learning in the most effective way possible.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A graduate of St Mary’s University where I studied primary education, I first became interested in education whilst living in Costa Rica. I subsequently worked with pre-teens in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a result of which the move into primary education was a natural choice for me. It was in Sao Paulo that I first became involved in tutoring English, working with students of all ages and from a range of different backgrounds, from CEOs to toddlers. Seven years later I now work with students in a very high achieving West London prep school. Alongside this I decided to start my own tutoring company, Headway Tutors, offering support to students of all ages in the west London area.
Why should our clients choose you?
We firmly believe in our ability, informed by knowledge of past and present educational theorists’ methods to develop our students. Both directors currently teach at an independent school in West London and have been involved in education for many years. Through working in such an inclusive and high achieving schools, I have gained an expert understanding of how to prepare children for any exam they may face.
