We booked the quartet for our daughter's wedding, with a playlist request that was mainly rock with a dash of classical. They were absolutely superb, making the whole occasion very personal. We had many comments from guests who were surprised and delighted to hear a music like this played on strings - someone said she would book them to play the same for her funeral, ( hopefully many years away!). Someone else said they had no idea that rock could be played like this - so a whole new audience for strings there! The impromptu solo for my husband brought tears to his eyes. What do you love most about your job?
First and foremost we love making music together and performing for our clients - and being a part of their special day. Every booking is different. We have played at hundreds of venues in Kent, London and the home counties. Venues varying from the grand such as the Imperial War Museum, Claridges, Penshurst Place, Chiddingstone and Hever Castles, to smaller churches, hotel venues, pubs, village halls, even a bandstand in a village fair – and many gazebos and marquees in private homes and gardens of all sizes. We also love the variety of music - from Mozart to Metallica, Vivaldi to the Verve, Bach to the Beatles.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The quartet started originally by four friends who all played in the Royal Ballet orchestra. We enjoyed performing together so much we that we decided to launch Haysden Strings in 1996. Since then we have have played at around 1,000 events. The Trio and Duo were launched in 2007. Over the years new and younger musicians have joined our team - all trained professionals.

Over the years we have built up an extensive pool of regular Haysden Quartet ‘extras’ – all professional players and friends who know our repertoire well; we guarantee to provide you with top quality musicians always. We have successfully coped with last minute emergencies over the years such as a car breakdown en route and being snowed in (thankfully rare events!) and have never let a client down.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We will always follow whatever the Covid rules are at the time of performance. The Trio has been a popular option during the pandemic. It's no problem performing with a mask on.
Wedding ceremony and reception
We can provide music pre ceremony as guests take their seats, for the bridal or partners entrance, register signing and recessional. And background music for drinks or a meal.
