I stopped over here on business and what a lovely hotel. The decor has old world charm, with wooden floors and paneling. The bar area was set out for Christmas and did feel and look wonderful with it's open fire and comfy seating.||||My room itself was very well appointed an had a lovely view. Bathroom was aching to be brought out of the 1980s but other than that it was a good place to stay and eat. More...

We stayed here Saturday to Sunday for my mother in laws 60th, staff were polite and attentive especially asking for them to bring out the cake at the right moment! They did have a wedding here but the staff still managed to look after us and it wasn’t too noisy. The food was tasty especially the scallops! Breakfast was good and Jackie was cheerful, helpful and welcoming. I have stayed here before last year hence why we thought great place to celebrate a special birthday. Definitely recommend staying here - my only gripe is the car parking - some people were inconsiderate with their parking so it meant one car took up 2 spaces and therefore people had to park awkwardly there was a wedding so they did have an overflow car park in a field but not practical when you have luggage to carry down. All the boxes were ticked - clean room and bathroom, tea and cofee facilities and literature about various attractions. We were however, disappointed with our Room No 4 over looking the car park which was noisy and no view - this was duly noted and acknowledged. ||||Bar area is spacious - 2 comfortable rooms to enjoy drinks and to enjoy a meal with your 'furry friends'. Seating outside for the warmer weather is catered for with thought and for you to enjoy the scenery.|| ||Well behaved dogs are more than welcome and it was lovely to see their owners having a break with their beloved friends.||||We did have problems with our evening meal which was quickly rectified - breakfast was very slow in fact we left after waiting over one hour without having eaten, but I understand this has been rectified. The reception did offer to make us sandwiches but we were already late. Good assortment of cereals, fruit, breads, juice etc. complemented with proper cafetieres and tea pots.||||We did have a few issues BUT all problems and queries were addressed so professionally and quickly.||||Gardens are beautiful and we look forward to a visit in the Spring / Summer.with our dog Monty and perhaps visit other Hatton hotels.||||I have had lovely correspondence from the Cheif Executive and management staff and would have no hesitation in recommending; as all our issues were dealt with professionally and promptly. We went with another couple and booked two superior double rooms. We had room 25 which was at the far end of the hotel overlooking a field. Lovely and quiet, brilliant bathroom, good TV and comfortable bed, although it was the ever increasing two singles joined together. Nice touch was the little bottle of fresh milk to go with the tea and coffee. Our friends were given room 7 which, whilst it had a comfy four poster had the most disgusting carpet and something leaking in the bathroom that flooded the floor. A much bigger room but I would recommend you go for No.25 all the way.||We stayed for evening meal which was very nice with very attentive staff. ||Breakfast was of a high quality.||A couple of points would be that portion sizes were a bit mean and can they not play anything over the sound system except Elvis? We were traveling to Devon for a long weekend, after just being married and Gloucester was a natural stopping point after a day travelling from Scotland. We called after a Google and Trip Adviser search, and Alex (Duty Manager, I think) was fantastically accommodating, arranging overnight storage of our surf board, and also generously giving us a congratulatory upgrade, as newly Wed's. A lovely gesture, to be applauded by owners and management.||Our room was great. We ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had, along with the service given by the 2 young ladies working that evening. The cost of our meals and drinks was very well placed, and this was reflected in the food we had. Really enjoyable. ||Breakfast was great, and truth be told, the bad reviews from people complaining about severely damaged driveways and being unable to eat breakfast due to 18th century antique paintings depicting barbaric hunting, actually swung it for me to choose to stay here.||There were literally no pictures in the dining hall showing this, and I genuinely had to go out of my way to find one painting, which showed a bunch of red jacket wearing, landed gentry on horseback, with a pack of dogs. No barbarism that I could see!!||Severly damaged driveway is a bit of a stretch. It could certainly do with some remedial work on it, but it's not as bad, as has been made out.||We would absolutely stay here again, if we're down this way. Thanks. More...

Stayed recently for our 1st wedding anniversary. The hotel is in a beautiful location and the building is picturesque. We paid for a superior room with a jacuzzi bath and were situated in the east wing away from the main building. The room was very clean and comfortable and contained all the in room amenities you would expect of a hotel with this rating... No quarms on this front. ||||There is a small reception area with bar/lounge which is smartly decorated and a nice place to relax. In addition there is a nice outside decked area which gets the afternoon sun. ||||The staff were lovely and very friendly if not a little bit casual and this is where this hotel falls down slightly. We had a meal on the Friday night in the Tara restaurant which the hotel appears to be pushing as a stand alone attraction, it is not upto this standard. Don't get me wrong the meal we had was very nice but when the bill for the set menu (3 course) and a bottle of wine is pushing £100 it needs to be a notch higher than high standard gastropub. The waiting staff also knew very little about the menu, the most important thing. Breakfast was nice but can get a little busy.||||Can't give five stars as the place falls down in a few areas but we had an extremely pleasant stay and wouldn't put anyone off staying, just don't hedge all your bets on a fine dining experience in the restaurant as there are better options in nearby Cheltenham/Gloucester.
