What an incredible space! I came here for the gender is fluid event last week. I spent half the time in awe of the beautiful architecture of this space. I cant wait to have an excuse to come back! More...
Absolutely breathtaking Hall, loved the architecture, and most of all-Michael Allen Harrison’s Christmas concert. ❤️
The sound is amazing and the experience so intimate.
We’re playing there 2/22 and can’t wait...the acoustics are supposed to be off the hook and everyone so far has been so nice to us!
I have seen several concerts here and simply love it. Beautiful venue and great people. Highly recommended
I think what surprised me more than going to church to watch a non-religious concert was the fact that you could drink in one. Talk about style points for that little perk! Setting: A beautiful "old church" with a large parking lot so if you drive to the venue, no worries about looking for a spot. The interior is exactly what you'd expect from an old church, but it is quite large. I was impressed by the amount of space for performers to use, and seating for the audience. Bathroom is on the basement level of the venue.Service: The check in process was easy thanks to event-brite so no worries about having to print our tickets. Just make sure the QR code on your phone is clear. The staff were very professional while expressing good crowd control for the performers especially after the concert.Seating: Abiding by the charm of an "old church" the seats are the traditional bench style seating. It would have been nice to stand and get closer to the musicians, but i'm just knit picking at this point. Overall: A great place to enjoy a lovely evening watching talented musicians. More...
The sound was amazing! I couldn't believe the clarity on the recording of the event, it was even better than the artists' own cds. The venue provided a very intimate feeling, while allowing for a good size audience and great acoustics.
I would love to attend another concert here someday. More...
The Old Church is the perfect place for the annual Michael Allen Harrison Christmas Program. We attend every year. The serene & beautiful setting, good acoustics, & Christmasy ambiance surround the musicians. Portland is wise to have preserved this building. More...
Transcendent!!! The music was new to me and very healing with each note. The acoustics and Simrit and her family if musicians created such a spacious and heavenly experience for all of us. Thank you ☆♡☆
We had the pleasure of hosting a concert at The Old Church in February. Gina and her associates are a pleasure to work with. The setting and acoustics in the concert hall are superb. One of the best concert halls in Portland if not the Pacific Northwest. More...
Beautifully restored architecture with a focus on a welcoming and well chosen color palete.
The accoustics are excellent as well as the lighting and the stained glass windows are a work of art.
I am a retired professional musician first of all and this was my first experience at ," THE OLD CHURCH CONCERT HALL" and it was a very pleasant expierance. I have played many concerts in my time at venues so big it would seen to loose the personal feeling to the audience, wish I could of had a chance to play at a concert such as this, we will defiantly come back to enjoy all the comfort and the personal touch with the performers. Thank you for a wonderful night of great music. Simrit and her band of muscians were beyond anything I ever experienced before, they all were simply great. More...
I love the Old Church. Everything about it is great. I guess the acoustics can be challenging. Usually anything with drums doesn't have ideal sound balance because of the reverb in the hall, but it is wonderful.

It's always a great day when we attend Michael Allen Harrison's Christmas at the Old Church. The building is beautifully preserved, and no matter your religious preference, it gives you a peaceful and reverent feeling. It's intimate, and the acoustics are great. Can't wait for next year! More...
My sister and I started attending this concert 3 years ago. We have never been disappointed. The music is wonderful. Michael is a true artist. I love how he showcases others. Julianne Johnson is a powerful singer who brings passion to her songs. This year I brought another friend. She is hooked too. Thank you Michael and cast for a wonderful night of music and song. You make our holidays special. More...
Each year at the Christmas Concert with Michael Allen Harrison we share a beautiful evening that helps launch our Christmas holiday. This year we took our children and grandchildren for the "experience." Hopefully it will become a yearly tradition. The music is always beautiful and the performances from the various musicians heartwarming. More...

We got married in The Old Church a week ago, and it was perfection. It's so stunning, so unique and perfect for couples who like the traditional feel of a church wedding but aren't themselves religious (the venue is completely secular).
I'll confess that I first came across it on a Reddit thread of affordable Portland venues, and this was close to the top. We had a winter wedding, and it was just perfection.
The space itself is so beautiful that you don't need to do too much decorating, and being able to spread out through the entire building provides a great multi-space feeling for the reception. For example, in addition to the main reception hall, where people were mingling and dancing, some folks would sit in the sanctuary pews and chat in groups, while others hung out downstairs in the basement, which we transformed into the tacky Christmas room.
The Old Church did a wonderful job of working with all our vendors, and we could not have asked for more. Not only was it incredibly affordable, it's so iconic that whenever we drive by it, we can smile and remember our amazing wedding.
Finally, we love that they are a nonprofit dedicated to music performances, and are supported in large part by the weddings they host. So just by having this rad, beautiful, affordable venue, we are also helping the Portland music scene.
A+++++++ Would get married in again! More...
The old church is a beautiful place to see a concert, the acoustics are fabulous, the lighting is peaceful and the crew that run the place are kind and helpful. By far the highlight of the place however is the organ, this beautiful instrument recently underwent a facelift making it even more of a central piece to the church. Perfectly located in downtown Portland with parking attached to the venue it's certainly not a place to miss. More...

This is an amazing ALL purpose venue! There has been an improved heating system and a state of the art acoustics system added in the past 3 years. Lovely detail, great seating so all can have a great viewing experience . A beverage bar serves a good variety. Staff are professional and friendly! Attend maybe 4-6 events here yearly. More...

We were invited by David and Mary Anne to some Christmas concert - that's all I knew! The joy I experienced with the sheer talent and gifts, coupled with a master so willing to share the stage with so many incredible musicians, the intimacy of the church...it was all just overwhelming. So much so that I just bought front row seats for my 19 year old and I to come back Monday night! This profoundly enriched my spirit and made my hodliay. Thank you, God bless all of you amazing musicians. More...
So amazing my first time there at the Christmas show at the old church. Coming back on Monday.
Probably one of the most amazing spaces you can see live music in all of Portland!
Absolutely loved The Old Church. What a beautiful place to listen to some beautiful music.
The sound is great. The seats are hard to sit in for a long length of time, but its worth it for a good concert.

We had So Much fun at the Tesla City Broadcasting show. What a great experience ;) Grest venue too. Thank you!!
Acoustically perfect, delightful ambiance and not a bad seat in the building! General admission is much less at fancier halls, but for the money every concert here as a more intimate social setting because there is only room for 300 guests! Amd since it is a very old church in design not only does one feel humbled walking to get a seat, gentlemen still take off their hats, and speak politely to one-another! Highly recommended at least for us! More...
This is an historic building, with beautiful charm and a kick-ass organ right in the chapel. It makes a great music venue, and they consistently book quality performers, so you're always going to get your money's worth. My only gripe: as a musician, I can't figure out why the soundboard is off to the side of the performers. A few times in the show (I've seen 3 there so far) the sound was WAY off (like booming acoustic guitar and low/muddy vocals) - and I asked myself whether the sound person could hear how badly everything was distorted at times? When I realized they were off to the side, my question may have been answered.Regardless, I will attend future concerts and recommend the same. More...
Historically beautiful intimate space, great sound and comfortable seating
a very nice, well kept venue for concerts and other activities.it is super clean and pristine inside.the sound is great.a nice place for a show
Unique gift to the Portland area this concert hall deserves much support in attendance and funds

Just a lovely space both auditorily and visually! Excellence!
An amazingly well kept and beautiful former church that has been transformed into an amazing concert hall with bar!
FANTASTIC VENUE!!!! As an opulent church, it makes for an awesome concert hall. If you're fortunate, there will be somebody playing the antique pipe organ before the show starts and during intermissions. The organ looks and sounds magnificent. There is also a paid parking lot right next door (literally), and lots of great places to eat withing walking distance. More...
The venue was great and the accoustics sounded wonderful too. They ran out of food.

Very intimate venue. Feels like it is just you and the artist sitting in a living room.
Oh. My. Goth. This is oldest church building in downtown Portland. It was designed by Portland architect Warren Williams.Built in 1882, Presbyterians used it as their church for 60 odd years. They vacated it for a larger space. It was later used by various religions until it became a nonprofit (The Old Church Society, Inc.) in the late 60's. They have restored the church, and transformed the space into a venue for a wide array of programs and functions. They have a giant pipe organ that sits front and center. The organ, only one of its kind in Portland, was a gift from the Ladd family (think Ladd's Addition) I'd like to visit when it's in use.We recently saw a performance by The Portland Gay Men's Chorus. The acoustics in the room were satisfyingly sound. They had a reception area that was more then enough room to host a small event. Wooden pews that looked original to the building had cushions to make it more comfortable. The restrooms are downstairs.Parking is on the street. The church was designated a national landmark in 1972. Love this venue! As an audience member, an artist, and a producer of events and shows. Can't wait until next time.
Got to see Bryan Sutton here. What a great venue for a concert. Nice historic feel and the acoustics were perfect.
A beautiful historical pleasure with good acoustics and lighting.
Great acoustics. Appreciative, respectful, sophisticated musical crowd. Pleasant staff. An overall great experience.
Amazing talent and beautiful concert. Would recommend this to anyone who loves classical intimate music gathering.
Beautiful venue. My friends and family love going here every year for the Principia Christmas Sing!

It's beautiful and the tonal reverb is to die for. :)

it was a very nice event i wasn't there very long it looked like very old building but well taken care of .
Such a very pretty venue, the acoustics are amazing. I would definitely come back again.
My son's wedding day was perfect!! What a lovely place for a wedding!!!
It is beautiful and a piece of Portland history. So much of that is being destroyed by "progress"
Great venue and awesome staff, the old building makes this place more attractive to visit

The beautiful setting & fantastic entertainment made my holidays! I recommend Michael Allen Harrison for a wonderful evening for the whole family!
Beautiful music, have seen Micheal Allen Harrison there several times.
Beautiful venue, awesome sound. A real listening room.
Amazing acoustics! Beautiful historical building. Easy parking
Great venue. Great people. Good sound. Look forward to next year!!

This church has so many great memories and many more to come.
What a fantastic place to see a concert. I've seen both classical and jazz shows here, the most recent being a show last night with 45th Parallel. The space is lovely, warm, welcoming, and obviously historic. Acoustics are good, but that's not what it was originally built for, of course. There's a back meeting area with absolutely gorgeous sliding doors, perfect for a post-event reception. So why four stars and not five? Well, it is historic, and that of course means a couple of rough patches. Understandable given the age, but probably should be mentioned, particularly for guests with challenges. Seating is okay for the first hour or so, but we're talking about older church pews (granted, with cushions) and I've observed that some folks get a little uncomfortable after the first hour. The Old Church is wheelchair accessible, but the front steps might be a little tricky for older guests. As noted earlier, parking can be a bear in this neighborhood, but it is on the streetcar line and it is easy to find. Truly though, this is nit-picking. A lovely space, and we're so lucky to have it. This historic church is right on the streetcar line. They don't hold weekly services here but there are other churches within blocks (Grace Bible and St. Stephen's Episcopal to name two) if that's what you're looking for. Instead they have a weekly sack lunch concert and other music events throughout the year. You can also rent the church for special events like weddings (but as another review mentioned, parking can be difficult).Check their website for a calendar of events and more information. More...
what was I thinking.... I have been at this place many time listening to Jazz in the Church. Just tonight I hear Cuban Jazz that smoked my shoes. The jazz series is over and I will have to post all the events next year. This place is reasonably priced around $20 per seat. There is food and wine. The music is pretty much the best jazz and blues that Portland has to offer. Do not miss the KMHD events. Worth every dollar. Go to church and listen.......-B More...
Recently my cousin got married in the Old Church. It is a beautiful church, nestled in the busy streets of Portland. Parking is a bit tight, but that's city life. Consider it for your wedding or other special event!
PROS: Beautiful church! Easy to find. Now with added wheelchair accessible functionality.
CONS: Parking is practically non-existent. Oregon drivers. More...
