We are from CT. My husband and I went to the Mass. State House today. I'm GF, so my Find Me GF app said Harvard Gardens was a great place. It DEFINITELY was! I had the Beacon Hill Cheeseburger with herb roasted potatoes (off the GF menu) and my husband had the steak tips (regular menu). My burber was very juicy and delicious! Harvard Gardens came in clutch for my proposal. I proposed to my girlfriend at the end of April and I needed somewhere for my 40 guests to go after I proposed. I called Harvard Gardens and talked to their manager Mike who was more than willing to have a section reserved for me and my 40 guests. They let us come and put up decorations and even let us stay longer than we originally talked about. Everyone had a great time and they had good food and drinks. My now fiance was impressed that I got a bar that was willing to have all of us there for this special occasion. I would definitely recommend this place to others and I will be going there any time I'm in the area. More...

This place was recommended by a friend and it was great! The food is what you would expect from a bar but with a twist! We got the clam chowder, the fish and chips, high society sliders, and the Smithfield Nachos. The atmosphere was nice and the food was reasonably priced.We were surprised at the portion sizes. For one, the sliders were really really interesting as they are served with a quail egg on top! The clam chowder met our expectations, however, we are not from New England, so there is that. The fish and chips were large enough to share for two people, however, not knowing that, we also got the Smithfield Nachos. The nachos were nothing to "write home about" but were by no means bad. I'm at MGH a lot and I have resisted going here for a long time because I thought "If you're right by MGH, you probably don't have to be good. People will come because of the convenient location no matter how mediocre the food is." Boy, was I wrong! I wish I hadn't waited. Great food, great service. I had the grilled cheese sandwich - aged chedder, tomato, pesto, really good bread - and it was delicious. Also had fries and kettle chips and both were excellent.
