very warm and friendly atmosphere, we had friend gathering there for dinner. waiter was so nice, when he got the feed back the dish is a little bit salty(even it is not a serious concern), he brought the manager right away to come over to take care of us. such nice service..food is great.

This is a wonderful restaurant! I just love it! I have been going there for years now. The menu changes all the time. The staff is always nice, polite and most attentive. It is a beautiful place, a gorgeous mansion turned into a restaurant many years ago. I go there every year, to celebrate my Wedding Anniversary. They always remember us and say something nice. They remember my favorites spots where I like to seat. They pay attention to details which is so nice and not very common nowadays. For the holidays they used to have carolers that will go around and sing Christmas Carols beautifully. Unfortunately, they no longer do that. Maybe one day in the future, they will bring them back. I have been eating at the Hart House regularly for about a decade now. The location’s staff and chef change over the years but have always treated me very well. The location is beautiful and is a compelling reason to return on its own. I have enjoyed sitting outside and watching a wedding unfold from afar, lake in the background. You really feel like you’ve gotten out of the city here even though it is close by. We sometimes walk around Deer lake and then drop in for brunch. Some of my rating is biased from the positive memories I have of the place over the years. It’s possible had I just dropped in and eaten there once I would not have rated this place so highly, but year after year it consistently provides me with great memories and warm feelings. More...

Very good, but not perfect. We did a full course meal with salads, warm olives, a risotto midcourse, and scallops / chef's feature of bison shortribs for the main, followed by a shared flambé banana chocolate ganache to finish. The food was 5/5, but the service - while still good - wasn't quite up to snuff and not quite what one would expect at this price level (dinner for two with tip was $330).That being said - the meal still warrants 5 stars, and we'll be back. What a lovely date night dinner. Our server was fantastic with great recommendations. The wine pairings with the Thanksgiving dinner specials were superb. All the staff are so attentive without being intrusive. We had the herb encrusted snapper followed by strawberry balsamic panna cotta (forgot to take pictures of the appetizers which were butternut squash soup for my wife and chicken liver pate for me) and my wife had the roast turkey followed by the dark chocolate mousse. Absolutely loved the place. The food is exquisite and the people who serve are friendly and very obliging. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. One can see the green grass that leads to the Lake. The sunset is a treat and if you are looking for privacy and a place for something special then this is the place. Hart House also is a favorite place for weddings as well.
