This establishment is like no other. If i could give 10 stars instead of 5, i would. The staff and food are absolutely stellar. You can’t find a more down to earth, personal experience. The waitresses/waiters are always welcoming and go above and beyond. The food is always absolute perfection. I got a blackened new york strip and trust me... no extra sauce or seasoning needed. It was perfect. The owner Joey, is always accommodating and makes sure that you are completely satisfied with absolutely everything served. Also makes everything a very personable experience. Honestly. I'm giving this place a 5 star. It was my first time here and I came in the wrong door. Someone quickly told me to follow them and showed to the front. But anyways On to the food lol. I was told the specials when I sat down and decided to go with one of them. I had the swordfish with the wild rice and baked potato. First off the fish wasn't dry and bland like I have had before at other places. The juiciness and flavor was amazing. The portion was also perfect. The wild rice and baked potato was also very good. Didn't have anything bad to say about the food! The staff and atmosphere was great too. I wish I could remember the name of my waitress because she was great!! First we would like to say the young lady that served us (Jess) was very professional, sincere, and outgoing and very knowledgeable of there menu as for the food both myself and my wife had the 1 1/4 bone in pork chop it was perfectly cook to perfection the glaze on the chop was excellent, the one thing that really pulled the dinner together was the grilled Brussel spout leaves that slight crunchiness just put it over the top ,mash potatoes were old fashion made with skin, I have to say for the price we'll drive all the way back up there if your up in that area you should try this place inside a little tired decor however it has history and character N-

We were traveling back home to NH and looking for a local place off highway. This place had high marks on some reviews so decided to try it. After circling the restaurant a few times, we found a spot in the packed parking lot, always a good sign to see so many cars. I ordered the half chicken and daily veggies, my wife ordered a fish option. The waitress was pretty busy, but very friendly and helpful. She did have to make a few trips to get our order just right, but she was very polite and apologetic. The food arrived hot and was very, very good. The price was just right as well. We finished up with a waitress recommended peanut butter pie dessert. We also enjoyed the overall atmosphere of an old 1804 restaurant. Would love to visit again. More...

I recently stopped in Harper Tavern for lunch after driving past it almost daily for years. The outside has a real rustic feel and that is matched with its inside decor. I was with my wife and a few friends and we just sat at a high top in the bar area. I ordered a bowl of French onion soup which was very good along with a grilled cheese sandwich willing was very good. It also came with chips although you can upgrade to fries or onion rings. While there I was told that they do have a different $5 lunch special each day during the week, which I will have to check out. Service was quick and friendly also. Came in for lunch the other day and I was pleasantly surprised that this cozy tavern exists nearby. Its situated on a corner of an intersection so it was kind of confusing as to where to park and enter. However I realized you can park in the front, back, or side and there are entrances in the front and the back. Once inside its kind of dark and the building is older which I think gives it some of its charm. The floors are kind of crooked in spots and the ceilings are low. Its fun. There's some nice outside seating as well. They have a daily $5 lunch special and they also run daily menu and drink specials. I was hangry so I decided on a bbq grilled chicken sandwich. It came out on a toasted brioche bun, loaded with cheese, crispy bacon, and yummy bbq sauce. It was really good. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was a little pricey at over $11 and it didn't come with any fries, just chips. I added onion rings, which were perfect, but they were a $4 addition. I just thought that this ended up being a lot for lunch. The service was great, however, and the food was very good so I'd definitely go back for another meal. More...

Visited 04/02/2019Stopped here after taking a little shopping detour on our way home from Florida. Very old establishment dating back to the 1800s and before. Very cool place with lots of VERY old pictures all over the place. We both had cheeseburgers... really, really good cheeseburgers. They make em out of chuck, brisket and short ribs. Awesome! I had mine "California style'... lettuce, tomato and raw onion. My wife likes her 'bleu' cheesburger... so that's what she had. Both done perfectly (med/rare) and just delicious. We shared some onion rings and sweet potato fries which were also very good. Oh! I started with their Cuban black bean soup which also was excellent. Had a free night to go out and explore and get a nice dinner, when I drive past this place it looked pack and parking looked tight. But I was able to find a spot and was seated very quickly.
