Great place. Server was very knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection. Overall a very friendly environment. The best part of this place is that the food is super flavorful. It was my first time there but my friend had been before and said he liked the new menu better. The tomatoes on the burrata tasted fantastic. The burger was delicious and the bun had the perfect consistency. I think it's the best I've had in Charleston. I ordered malt vinegar with my fries but the herb dusting was so good I quit using it. One of my dining partners raved about the gnocchi with shrimp and the other commented how the peas were the perfect compliment to the chicken and dumplings. The flavor combinations were just great. The peach cobbler highlights the freshness of the peaches and is amazing. I'll definitely be going back. More...

Man, the new Chef is legit! We live in the neighborhood and have so wanted this place to be in our regular rotation. They always have a good family feel in there and the new menu items are a true hit. We had to start with the fried okra, because of course. Next we had the Crab Fritters and the Burrata, both very tasty and fresh as can be. We loved the Beet and Fennel Salad as well, lots of scrumptious beets and a light salad to go with it. My personal favorite is the new Smoked Chicken with cold bean salad. The chicken was so perfect, pull off the bone with a fantastic smokey flavor. All in all, major improvements to the menu! We visit Charleston every few months or so and will be making this a staple of our trips going forward. Consistent, tasty food, great service & warm atmosphere. Our most recent visit was started with the daily cocktail special - Meg's Absinthe Minded - this drink was incredibly tasty. Mixed several flavors really nicely and somehow allowed you to taste them all with each sip. We'd recommend any of their cocktails! Great beer selection too. Our party liked several menu items too - the steak, fingerlings, oysters, crab fritters, bison burger and fried chicken sandwich. Moral of the story: you can't go wrong here - date night, 8-10 person group (wouldn't go any larger), great food, game changing drinks and prompt service. More...

This has become one of our absolute favorite breakfast spots in Charleston! The staff is phenomenal and makes this place the friendliest restaurant we have been to in two years of living here. We have a Corgi who loves to accompany us places and we were able to have him here on the patio. The staff spoiled him rotten, so much so he kept trying to go back on the way home! It is not just the pet friendly staff and amazing reception but also the incredible food that makes this place amazing. I had the omelette special and my husband had the Harold's breakfast. The omelette was one of the best I have ever had and my husband cleared his plate! The bread and jam we ordered on the side was also delicious! Another great thing to order is their cold brew coffee which was delicious! This is an amazing breakfast spot and we will be recommending it to everyone we know and anyone we meet! I went this past Saturday to meet a friend to catch up on things. I got there a bit early and sat at the bar. The bartender, Megan, is super sweet and knowledgeable about the history. She took myself and other patrons to the rooftop to see the gardens. The food was incredible.  The bean salad that goes with the smoke chicken is still lingering in my mouth. Everyone who came in were a delight to meet. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe this is a gem. But rule of thumb, don't assume or have 'high' expectations because you only end up disappointed. This place is rustic, charming and definitely a highlight of Charleston and all of her glory with history, hospitality and edibles that will leave you full, but wanting more. More...

Harold's Cabin is an unassuming location with a great and interesting local history that serves up some of the best brunch food on the peninsula. We've only been for brunch so I can't speak to the rest of the menu but based on the brunch experience I'd guess it's all good! The brunch menu is full of southern-inspired favorites but with a few wild cards thrown in there. Naturally, I went with probably the least healthy and most delicious item: the Cabin Breakfast. I also tried the Bison Burger--one of the aforementioned wild cars, and it was very good. I wasn't exaggerating about the unassuming location--it's in the middle of Hampton Park Terrace, about 2 blocks from the Citadel Football Stadium--so parking can be a bit of a hassle depending on the time of year and what else is going on in that part of town. The history of the restaurant is worth a read too--it's really cool to have the spirit and namesake of a piece of Charleston history preserved and passed on. Speaking to the brunch menu, definitely a place to get some rib-sticking food after a late night out! We're going to certainly check it out for dinner one of these days! More...

Laura and I have now visited Harold's Cabin twice. Once for dinner service and the other for brunch. For dinner we were seated upstairs which is very cool. The décor of this place is super neat. it's a bit rustic, and a bit chic. Of course the stair well is where the giant picture of the jackalope is. It's probably the most photographed thing in the entire restaurant. I forget our servers name, but she was amazing. Very open, friendly and accommodating with giving us menu suggestions. She even gave us the run down as to why it's called Harold's Cabin and the history of the building. We just went with appetizer small plates for food on this visit. We ordered the hushpuppy's, the Forage and Cheese Board and the Harold & Lillian. The Harold and Lillian was stupid good! That cured salmon paired with the horsey cream was ridiculously good. I probably wouldn't get the hushpuppy's again, because it was a lot of bread and that will fill you up. Cocktails here are just as good as the food is. I had the Salty Racoon and loved it. Our brunch was just as good. On this trip we sat at the bar. The bartenders on this day were 2 young ladies. They were very sweet and fun to chat with while sipping morning coffee and boozie OJ. Laura got the eggs in a nest while I had the Cabin breakfast. I know, I'm not as adventurous as she is when it comes to picking food. But Laura's dish was amazing! the greens and sausage with tomato was delish! I'll be back just for that alone. If you have guest coming to town, you should really take them here. But, the favorite (by far!) of our recent long weekend was Harold's Cabin. Tucked away in a N'hood near the River Dawgs Stadium and the Citadel, this quirky little place is a sweet, sweet surprise. One brunch on the rooftop (where they grow herbs and veggies) just wasn't enough. Those biscuits. The veggies in the omelette. The sunflower sprouts on top. The homemade jam (blueberry apple). Good LORD. Coffee, you ask? The best we've had in a long time. And it's the coffee that led us here to begin with. I had the Omelet of the day (feta cheese, spinach, cucumber and squash) with a banana nut muffin and he had the shrimp BLT! The muffin was absolutely amazing (I am bias towards banana nut though because it's just so good) They cut it in half and toasted the inside so it was nice and warm. It was served with butter and a kind of honey topping. The omelet was fantastic as well. Great combination of veggies and feta cheese! The only good thing that was slightly weird was the side of pickled veggies my boyfriend had. Something to get used to, but not necessarily bad. The atmosphere was cute, and I thought very cool! We had the daily special omelette with "Harold's cheese" a special recipe that paired nicely with the veggies, steak, and eggs.  The French toast was delicious according to my picky eater.  Bri prepared crafted cocktails for the adults (the coffee and gin drink was awesome) and non alcoholic "mock"tails for the teens.  So great we will come back tomorrow so I can try the Shrimp BLT or Fried chicken biscuit and gravy.  If you choose Harold's Cabin you will not be disappointed. Harold's Cabin specializes in a veggie-driven menu, most of which they get from their very own rooftop garden. The atmosphere is cozy and casual and the decor is spot-on for making it feel like you're in someone's family cabin. It's very easy to feel right at home at Harold's Cabin, especially when someone places a plate of hush puppies in front of you.I've mostly had shared apps at Harold's Cabin and my favorites are the hush puppies (duh) and the smashed fries. The hush puppies are enormous and they're served with a miso carrot puree, scallion, crispy shallots, and a sweet/ tangy red pepper jam. Definitely an elevated version of what you would expect from hush puppies. The smashed fries are smashed fingerling potatoes mixed with herbs and served with a tarragon aioli. This dish was simple, but if potatoes dipped in fancy mayo is wrong, then I don't want to be right. It's one of my favorite neighborhood spots to pop in to on a week night because they have specials almost every day! My favorite special that they have is Hooch and Holler night on Thursdays where they offer $5 cocktails. My favorite is the Salty Raccoon, which has tequila, rosemary, lime, and a salted rim. It's basically a margarita, but they elevate it with the fresh rosemary from their garden! If you haven't had a chance to check out Harold's Cabin yet, definitely worth stopping in! More...
