It's been a pleasure working with Geo on our home extension project, which includes a rear extension, a garage conversion and a complete refurbishment of the ground floor of our semi-detached house. We first met Geo in the office back in November. He explained the design and planning process with clarity, talking through all services that Happy Building offered. With a very fast turnaround, he designed two different options based on our brief by the end of the year. He also provided current market estimates for the construction costs. I was so pleased to have chosen Happy Building to do the plan drawings for my kitchen / Diner renovation with the addition of bi-fold doors. I have now got the plan but the work hasn't started due of Covid-19, however I would like to add further about Happy Building services. The task was to accomplish to my requirement and also completed with the council approval in a good timing. We chose Happy Building for our architectural design and the planning application, and also for the second stage including structural design, project specification and costing. At all times, the people we interacted with were super friendly, explained everything in detail, took our wishes and concerns into account, and were generally helpful to guide us through this unfamiliar process of planning and designing an extension. The design phase was a very pleasant experience because our architect Anastasia not only made a real effort to understand our wishes and incorporate all ideas we had, but she also proposed new ideas (like a vaulted ceiling we absolutely love) and was able to amend the design to accommodate the concern of the planning permission officer. The second stage of structural planning and costing also went really smooth and we got all the necessary drawings and detailed project specification that left no room for confusion. In fact, the project specification was so detailed that we were able to approach other builders for comparative quotes and felt confident that they really quoted for the same work without any room for misinterpretation. In the end, we didn't choose Happy Building for the building stage of the project, but definitely not because we wouldn't feel confident that they would deliver great work, but mostly due to our own tight budgeting constraints. We decided to work with Happy Builders after a very positive discussion with their client services team. Our project was relatively simple, we wanted to complete a rear extension with open plan kitchen diner and some minor work to our master bedroom. Geo, who was our assigned architect was extremely positive and enthusiastic. He understood our needs and we felt really listened to our objectives. My wife and I looked on mybuilderdotcom to find a builder for our house renovation. Valter was very impressive on his initial visit with some exciting ideas for the house improvements and we had no hesitation in choosing Happy Building above the other two building firms who quoted. This was the deciding factor even though the other firms' quotes came in at a lower price.

It quickly became clear that Happy Building are also very experienced design consultants and they spent a long time with us working on the detail, look and feel of how the house would look after the renovation. Detailed plans in CAD enabled us to evaluate the options which was a huge help for a pair of non-creatives

Having signed off on the budget and scope of work, Valter's team of builders arrived. We were hugely impressed with the skill, experience and work ethic of the team; the fact that they arrived early each morning smiling underlined the "Happy Building" epithet; Jarek, the site foreman, had an especially cheery demeanour.

We continued to live in the house during the two month project and the team were happy to work around us. The work involved stripping the walls back to bricks, removing walls, reinforcing foundations, plastering, extending the bathroom and removing one bedroom to create a large ensuite bedroom. The latter certainly would not have been done without Valter's vision and patience in explaining how it would look.

We were kept informed at each stage of the process and consulted on any important decision which was most welcome and made us feel part of the project management process. We were able to deviate from the original plans without any problem which was very important in achieving the final look which we had desired. Valter was very careful in sticking to time and budgets which I had never experienced before with builders. We felt like we were working with a team that wanted to create the best look and feel possible and took genuine pride in their work and output rather than treating us as another project to be finished within an arbitratry timeframe which suited the firm.

The kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, living room and hallways were finished to the highest possible specification within our budget. There were one or two small features which, with hindsight, we would have improved such as door handles and shower fittings, however this was down to us not specifying exactly what we wanted. These are very minor details and a tiny part of the overall picture.

In summary we are exceptionally pleased with the work Valter, Jarek and the team did and would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them; indeed we are recommending them to ourselves for a follow-up project of upgrading our conservatory next spring!

At the end of the project we were given some "Happy Building" mugs which say, "You Dream it. We build it." For us a more appropriate summary would be, "You and us dream it. We build it.".

We are very satisfied customers and would be more than happy to have anyone in our area considering home improvements or renovations come over to our house and look at Happy Building's work. More...

After dealing with happy building in regards to our loft conversion permission where they promised us the world the local council told us that they have done this before and after our planning permission was refused we were told we could in fact have less than half of the space we were originally told. It’s a shame this side of their service has let us down as we would have hired them to complete a £150,000 job. Instead we are told we can infact only have the size of our smallest double in the loft. Very quick to take your money but since we instructed them we feel conned on a big scale. More...
