This was a sweet cupcake shop to stop by in. My family and I were looking for dessert before the July 4th weekend and got quite a few selections. You will not be disappointed by the selections you can choose from.  Have fun picking out your mouth watering cupcakes!  Enjoy! More...

I've always loved Happy cupcakes, especially the little ones.  But, yesterday, pi day, I tried their lattice cherry pie and it is, hands down, the best pie I've ever had!  My guests agreed.  They don't always have pie, but if you are there and you see the pie, do yourself a favor and buy a pie! It's a bit difficult to get to during any rush, so I decided to go on a Saturday morning. The dark haired girl behind the counter was so sweet! Really wish I could remember her name, but I do stink with names. I grabbed half a dozen cupcakes. Two of which were vegan for my daughter and myself and four for my husband. Let me say, I have never had a vegan cupcake that was this amazing! My hubby was also blown away by the ones I purchased for him. We will definitely be back, and ordering our cakes from here in the future. More...

Can't say enough good things about Happy Bakeshop, they are simply the best in town. My wife and I used them for our wedding and they came through with over 100 cupcakes of different flavors and a cutting cake that looked gorgeous. The flavors are amazing, but best of all, they offer gluten free/dairy free cupcakes. Perfect place to go for big parties, or if you simply have a yearning for a delicious cupcake. More...

The chocolate salted caramel cupcake was heavenly! My gluten/dairy/peanut-free roommate was delighted with the allergy friendly chocolate chip pumpkin bread slice and carrot cake cupcake! My only other input is that the cupcakes are on the smaller side...wish they were at least standard size. More...

I love that I can stop in during the weekday and choose from a large selection of cupcakes, readily available to purchase, no pre-order necessary. The cupcakes were beautiful! I love that they have their typical flavors, and then special flavors served on specific days of the week. A bonus, they have a wonderful deal on Tuesdays, when cupcakes are $2 each! The shop had other snacks as well, so I picked up some macarons. The service was good, the gal at the register quickly greeted me and helped me with my order. There were other customers in the store when I happened to be there, so I'm sure they get quite a bit of traffic. This is my go-to store if I need to pick up gourmet cupcakes for special occasions. The Happy Bakeshop made my wedding cake for my event in Beaver Creek, CO. They did a fantastic job and it was delicious and exceeded my expectations and all 75 guests raved about how tasty and moist it was! We had a yellow cake with chocolate frosting layer in the middle and a buttercream frosting. It was a two tier rosette cake and it just looked adorable! They were able to deliver to our venue (Saddleridge) from Denver for a fee and it was totally worth it for a stress free wedding day. Nicki was a pleasure to work with and we will highly recommend her to future brides. I am still waiting for my wedding photos but will share a pic once I receive them! More...

What a great little bakery! I was at my nephew's birthday party yesterday and the cake was from here and could not have been more adorable! After searching for different options I ran into this place online. Stopped by and order a cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. I provided the picture of what I envisioned the cake will look like, and they did a really good job recreating it and adding a special touch. The price was very reasonable. The taste was great, slightly dry for my taste but the combination with the chocolate filling was well balanced.I recommend this place! To keep in mind: Make sure you let the cake at ambient temperature long enough. The chocolate filling was delicious but it was too hard when we cut the cake. It needed more time outside to melt a little bit (once that happened it got much better!) More...

I got my daughters birthday cake from here and it was absolutely delicious!!!!!! The Umi zoomi character was super cute and my 2 year old daughter just LOVED it!!! It was a chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and cream cheese frosting. The cake was extremely moist and the ganache was perfectly velvety, creamy, and fudge like. Over all the cake was not extremely sweet and the flavors had a nice blend, it was perfect. I will definitely get future cakes for here for birthdays, holidays, or special events. What a wonderful dessert. This was definitely not a let down. In fact the next morning my daughter woke up and asked for cake for breakfast, and she is certainly a picky eat, she has refused to eat certain cakes and cupcakes in the past, but then again so have me and husband. If it's not good she won't eat it, no matter what it is, and neither will we. She's a smart girl.(I scratched out my daughters name on the cake image for privacy) More...

A wide variety of flavors - something for everyone! Wonderful cakes, cookies, and other treats too. This place is amazing! My daughter's red velvet cake was delicious! It was moist (I know, we all hate that word but it really is the only word that you can use to describe a good cake) the perfect size, and just sweet enough. The fondant character was based on one that my daughter and her friends draw. Just perfect and she loved it! The shop itself is so cute and modern and the young woman working the day I picked up the cake was super friendly and helpful. I couldn't resist trying the naturally gluten free macaroon while I was there - so good! Love this place and will definitely be back. More...

This has been mine and my daughters favorite cupcake shop and bakery for the past 5 years! The unique and creative flavor pairings that they come up with is a huge part of this places charm! And the flavors change every day, they even offer gluten free cupcakes that are to die for! This year for my baby's 5th birthday was the first time we ordered a cake from the shop and I could've cried tears of joy it was so perfect! They created a majestic unicorn cake for my princess and it was so delicious we were so impressed! It was vanilla bean cake with vanilla buttercream filling and vanilla fondant with pink, purple, blue, gold, and edible glitter decorations! The artistry for the cake could not be beat, they really out did themselves! They even had matching sparkle rainbow candles for the cake which was so nice for me because that was probably the only thing I forgot the day of the party! Thank you for making her day and covering all the bases for us! I tell every one I know that this is the best shop in town! Can't wait to stop in again very soon! More...

First, the cupcakes at Happy Bakeshop are FANTASTIC! Absolutely loved them and the guests at our wedding loved them as well, we got so many compliments. However, we did have a few hiccups along the way that prevent me from being able to give them the 5 star review the cupcakes alone absolutely deserve. We booked them for our wedding date and sent in a check for the deposit. I saw the check cleared from my bank and thought nothing of it. But a few months later when I called to confirm the flavors we wanted, we were told a payment was never made. Thankfully, I was able to send them confirmation from my bank that they deposited the check and we were set to go. But then I got a call a few days before my wedding claiming the final payment was never made. Due to the issue with the check for the first payment, we called to make the final payment. I had to insist they look again because I knew we had paid it and they did find it. Finally, I *know* they told me that they would deliver AND set up the cupcakes at our venue. We even paid an extra fee for this. When I got to the venue on our wedding day, I was told by the coordinator that the cupcakes were dropped off but they refused to set them up. Thankfully, our coordinator was willing to set up the cupcakes even though they typically don't so it ended up not being a huge deal. Ultimately, everything turned out fine and the cupcakes are delicious but it did add extra stress to my wedding planning while working with Happy Bakeshop. More...

We stumbled upon this adorable cupcake shop and discovered some amazing flavors! We loved our tasting - we tried a big assortment of some unique cupcakes. Lizzie was great to work with, she encouraged us to find fun designs and other options as they were included in our cost. We had a destination wedding with a large guest list and low turnout (perfect for us) so we were prepared to add cupcakes in red velvet or other fun flavors to supplement the cake if we had over 80 guests. We didn't actually need to add any additional and the cake was so affordable! The cake looked great on the wedding day and was absolutely delicious! Our guests loved it and still make comments about it. The best part - there's no freezing our cake (imo: ew!) and we get to go back on our anniversary for cupcakes! :) More...

I love this place! I found it while wandering 38th and it was every bit as good as advertised.I tried the Cherry Coke and peanut butter ones on my first trip and both of them were awesome. The Cherry Coke is by far my favorite one that I've tried so far, it does legitimately taste like the soda. The peanut butter was layered on the inside, which was pretty neat.I came back a few days later because I wanted to try to Mexican chocolate and it was fine. The orange spice one was fine too, but I don't like spiced cake. And for the people saying that it's expensive, it's cheaper than most cupcake stores I've gone too but better. So I like the variety, there's one worth trying on every day of the week. I want to come back and try them all. They also have gluten-free and vegan-friendly options. This is a very high four stars too, if they all tasted as good as the Cherry Coke then it'd definitely be 5. More...

Happy Cakes, Happy Cakes bakers men... Bake me a cake as fast as you can...Their store name reminds me of a playground chant we used to sing as kids. Maybe it's just me but I seem to be off the cupcakes as of late. It's just cake... But smaller... And it costs more per serving. I do however, love the cookies this place serves up. They have a killer cookie. Don't pass it up.! Lemony sugary yumminess. Love their cookies. I also love their macarons also. Pretty great selection. Smaller in size but yummy when fresh.  I ended up buying too many and I let them sit for a few days- rock hard macarons aren't great... So eat them all the day you get them, they don't keep well. Not a huge fan of their cupcakes though.. I recently had a gluten free one and it wasn't great... Maybe it's the whole gluten free-ness of it. Things without gluten in it (that should have gluten in it) really taste funny to me. I'll have to come back to try the other gluten-filled varieties. The French toast one was tempting me and I spied a bacony one.... Lots of flavor combos, I'll definitely be back! Cute presentation. Check in on yelp- you'll get 25% off your order. But don't pass up that cookie... That's the real gem here. More...

Cupcakes here are delicious. Everyone should go on Tuesday and get the $2 cupcake deal, it'll save you a lot of money in the end. I have tried all of the cupcake flavors here and am always blown away by the combinations and how delicious they truly are.My personal favorite cupcake is the banana streusel cupcake. I was hesitant about this one but as soon as I took one bite I fell in love. Another of my favorites is the red velvet, it's just classic and simple and it's done right. I would probably skip the chocolate chai, it's a little strange of a combination for me but a lot of people seem to like it a lot.I have two complaints here, one is that the place is crazy hard to find your first time here. They should definitely put more signs on the street to generate better foot traffic throughout the day. My other complaint is that they put too much frosting on the cupcakes for me, I know a lot of people who love a ton of frosting so I get why they do it but I don't think the frosting they make is anything spectacular to begin with. All in all this is a great little place to grab a quick cupcake on the run. More...

This place is amazing. I work close by so I have to restrain myself from going more than once a week! I cannot have dairy and their vegan cupcakes are always delicious. Try the carrot, pumpkin, or snickerdoodle - you can't go wrong! The staff is also always very friendly. I ordered two dozen cupcakes for a special occasion. They all turned out great. They let me mix and match the order so we tried several different kinds (which I heard were all delicious), and I got a jumbo cupcake with writing on it for the birthday guy! More...

This review is for their cake and cupcake services for our wedding.Happy Cakes did a wonderful job catering the cake and cupcakes for our wedding! They can be very busy, so sometimes it takes a few days to hear from them, so please make sure you contact them in a timely manner. When we visited their store to contact them to do the cupcakes for our wedding, they sent us home with a 6-pack of full-size cupcakes of our choosing to sample! We and our family were very grateful for their generosity to allow us to sample them, and they were delicious! There was no doubt that we were going to choose them. They delivered and set up the cake and cupcakes perfectly. They also set up our cake topper for us so that we didn't have to worry about it on the day of the wedding. We received so many compliments, the cupcakes were delicious! By far the most popular flavor was the Chocolate Salted Caramel, our other flavors were pumpkin spice, vanilla on vanilla, and chocolate on chocolate. The cost was very reasonable and comparable to other cupcake shops, but by far the quality of Happy Cakes surpassed the competitors we contacted. Yummy cupcakes in interesting and traditional flavors.  Today I went for $2 Tuesday and got Sweet Potato Cupcakes!  Yummy!  I am knocking off a star because for how small these cupcakes are, they are way overpriced.  That's why I only go on $2 Tuesdays because I think $2 is a fair price for the cupcakes, given how small they are. I ordered a 4 inch chocolate cake with caramel ganache inside and cream cheese frosting on the outside. The cake is very very moist and somewhat dense but not too dense. The caramel ganache inside was so delicious and the cream cheese frosting was good as well. All in all, it wasn't too sweet, just perfect. The only problem I have and did not rate it 5 stars is because I ordered a chocolate cake and it did not taste anything like chocolate. They put too much coffee that it definitely over powered the chocolate. Everyone at the party had a slice and not one person said it tastes like chocolate and thought it was a coffee cake. I hate coffee cake..so I was really disappointed it tasted like coffee cake. Next time I order a cake, I will ask them to not to put it in there or at least put a teaspoon instead. More...

Happy Cakes did an amazing job with our wedding cupcakes! As a celiac, I always imagined finding a gluten-free wedding cake would be impossible. Happy Cakes made it so easy! We couldn't narrow down a flavor, so we chose a variety of GF cupcakes. (We didn't even mention to our guests that they were gluten-free. They were all gone by breakfast the next morning - they were just so good.) About half way through our ordering process, we started working with Laura, who was so friendly, helpful, and professional. The cupcakes and the various types we chose were not problem for the bakery. Though it was a large amount the cupcakes were divine as usual. This location is tucked away behind a book store and is initially a little hard to find, but once you're in there, you can't miss the myriad of cupcakes angling to be your take home! So glad that I had the check-in discount of 25% off because these little babies are not cheap but they are delicious. I loved the salted caramel macchiatto and the chocolate with peppermint icing. The cake is very moist and flavorful - some of the best that I've encountered in Denver so far. I agree with other reviewers who have said that the icing is weirdly piped on top in a tall mound. It does make it very difficult to get a reasonable mouthful of icing and cake at once I ended up smooshing mine down and respreading it. Much better. Oh, and don't bother getting coffee here. I went to Happy Cakes solely because they are the only cupcake shop I know of in town that regularly sells gluten free cupcakes. I haven't had one so I had to try them out! [Took me a while to actually get in the store since they are closed on Sundays, which is usually my Faturday]. Each day of the week (Mon-Sat) has a different flavor. But there is only one gluten free flavor.... so either check their chalkboard or website ahead of time to see if you like the GF flavor of the day. I went on a Saturday so I got lemon. To mix it up for only having one flavor they had two frosting choices: cream cheese and strawberry buttercream. Because I had never been in before & it was right before closing they gave me one of each for the price of one! That made the $3+ a cupcake price more palatable. Good customer service! That being said, I didn't like either frosting choice too much. A little too sweet for me. [Being GF makes you more sensitive to sugar though]. But the actual cake part is great. Very dense and flavorful, kind of like a pound cake. MEATY!!! Not that airy crumbly junk from the grocery store baking department. Another bonus: the GF cupcakes are the same priced as normal ones. I'll be back :) More...

Happy Cakes is in my hood so I frequent the shop when special occasions warrant an exquisite, though expensive cupcake. I have been here a few times and find them exceptional. Why?1) Vegan cupcakes - I'm lactose intolerant so the buttercream icing on most cupcakes can be sweet, but cause a sour tummy later. I'm appreciative of them catering to the lactards of the world... and the snobby vegans.2) Excellent customer service - I wanted to order peppermint patty cupcakes for a friend's birthday. I called at 4:30 the day before, wanting them done for a noon lunch. AND I only ordered 6, the minimum is usually 24, but they accommodated my request with a smile on their faces.3) They put the CAKE back in cupcake - I hate biting into a cupcake that is stiff, airy, and dry. Happy Cakes are moist, but not so much to collapse under the weight of frosting. Excellent.4) Options for less frosting - some cakes are thinly frosted and dipped in ganache. I'm more of a cake fan than a frosting fan, but ganache makes me weak in the knees.I'd give them 5 stars if the prices were a tad more reasonable, but then I'd probably go more often and start to muffin-top because of cupcakes... and that would be a bakery disaster. So 4 1/2 stars it is! More...

I have to say...I love Happy Cakes!  The cupcake flavors are always changing...and they are so beautiful to look at!.  The best part of the cakes is always the frosting!  I have to say that the "cake" part tends to be a bit dry, unless you eat them the moment you buy them.  My only complaint is that they are on the expensive side...but I do acknowledge that there is a fair bit of time that goes in to making them.  I have done both walk ins and ordered cupcakes online to be picked up.  I really love the mini cupcakes! Best cupcakes, period.  I live in Los Angeles where the gourmet cupcake industry started, and I have to say Happy Cakes has THE best cupcakes on the west coast.  Forget Sprinkles and such, Happy Cakes cupcakes are perfectly sweetened.  I rarely order desert or eat sugar, and that I why I love their cakes.  You can actually taste the flavors that the cupcake is named for, without being overwhelmed by the sugar!  And, since it is a cupcake and not a dinner entree, the size is perfect for a treat.  That's all you need, and boy, do they deliver.  The selection is beyond impressive, and I do like that they have mini-cakes if all you need is a bite size delicacy.  The staff is extremely friendly, and the store is conveniently located.  I visit Denver a few times a year, and this place is on my list every time.  I love Happy Cakes and wish they would expand. My favorite bakery!! The cupcakes are always moist, light and airy, with the perfect cupcake-to-frosting ratio. I never feel like I'm suffering from sugar-overload after I eat one. The variety of flavors are so unique too. I love that they have the standard classics, but also mix in seasonal flavors as well for Halloween and Christmas. I've never had a bad cupcake!I prefer to order my cupcakes online through their website a day or so before I pick them up. Then I know I'm guaranteed to get the flavors I want. I also recommend signing up for their monthly e-newsletter through the website. Each email contains a coupon for 15% off - and who doesn't love to save money? The only thing I don't particularly like is the location. The bakery itself is easy to find, but it's always such a challenge to find a parking spot in the Highlands. Once again Happy Cakes, I'm impressed :) Tried some more flavors from my favorite bakery! They have all their fall flavors out now for a limited time :)Casa Noble: Tequila-Peach cupcake with chopped cherries, topped witha tequila peach buttercream and a maraschino cherry. Woah nellie I could DEFINITELY taste the tequila in the buttercream...It overpowered the peach, but the cake was delicious.Perfect Pear: Spiced Pear Cupcake with a Sauvignon Blanc buttercream & pear drizzle. The buttercream on this one was not quite as boozey tastig as the casa noble, but I could still tell there was alcohol in it. This cupcake was alright, I'm just not much of an alcohol person to begin with, so If you like the sauce, then I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Didn't get much pear flavor, but pear is a subtle fruit and I think the buttercream overpowered it a little.Cosmopolitan: Vodka-soaked cranberry cupcake with lime buttercream, topped with a dried cranberry. This was my favorite of all the alcoholic cupcakes :) The vodka flavor wasn't too stron, the cake was light and delicious, and teh frosting was wonderful! I'd definitely knock back a few more cosmo cupcakes!Born This Way: This was a special flavor of the week where all proceeds were donated to a local charitable cause! It was seriously delicious, although you won't be able to pick it up anymore. It was a vanilla funfetti cake topped with a vanilla buttercream and lots of sprinkles (the buttercream tasted like cake-batter to me, yum). A delicious cupcake for a worthy cause :)Gluten-Free Apple Spice: A gluten free spice cake studded with apples, topped with an apple cider cream cheese frosting. I did like this one, but it was a little heavy (usually happens with gluten free confections). The apple chunks were sweet and moist. The cake itself was very moist and not overly sweet. The buttercream didn't have a strong apple-cider flavor, but it was heavenly nonetheless :) A great treat for anyone with gluten sensitivity.Carmel Pumpkin: A pumpkin cupcake topped with caramel buttercream. OMFG this is my new favorite flavor!!! The pumpkin cake was perfect and moist, and the caramel buttercream tasted like brown sugar! A winning combination, be sure to stop in every Friday in the fall for one of these beauties!!! More...

FULL DISCLOSURE - I think wedding cakes are over rated. I think fondant is disgusting and I think most people at weddings don't have the time or patience to sit with a plate and fork and eat a rich thick piece of cake at 9pm at night. You spend $500 on a gross cake that no one eats... infuriating. On the other hand... cupcakes (specifically mini cupcakes) are the perfect solution. It allows your guests to grab a little bite of something they can shove in their mouths and enjoy between shots and dancing. No disgusting fondant frosting and cupcakes give people 5-6 flavors to choose from! Happy Cakes was a great bakery to work with. They give you 'tasters' so you can decide which flavors you like (very fun) and they were extremely flexible with HOW we wanted the frosting and decorations to look. The pricing was market competitive and about $200 cheaper than a wedding cake. I would recommend hiring a company to do this instead of thinking you can do it yourself (or have you aunt Betty do it) because they come in and set everything up for you and you know the 'experts' will have the best tasting desserts! You'll be happy and you'll know it if you stuff your face with cupcakes from Happy Cakes.  Happy Cakes is my favorite cupcakery in all of Denver and trust me, I've made a point of trying all of the competition around town.  The cake is moist and light and the flavors of frosting are creative and delicious without giving me the sugar shakes. In fact, we like Happy Cakes so much that we've decided to use them for our wedding.  Their cake tasting was awesome.  We got to choose six flavors of cupcakes to take home (read: we stuffed them in our mouthes as soon as we got in our car) to try.  We ended up choosing: red velvet, salted caramel, carrot and peach streussel for our guests.  Happy Cakes also makes cutting cakes (6" or 8"), so you can still have that cutting the cake moment at your wedding.  They can customize your cupcakes to match color schemes, etc., too.Don't get me wrong, but I'm sort of hoping some of our wedding guests don't show, so I can have leftovers!  Okay, I'm just kidding, but, uh, not really. Oh, so cute! This shop is tucked away from the main walkway and the stroll to their front door is quite charming. The adorable cupcakes catch your eye as soon as you walk in. I imagine this is what adopting a puppy must be like: all beautiful little guys looking their best, with enticing descriptions and helpful staffers willing to sell you the whole batch for a song. After reading each description carefully, eyeing each sweet little guy, and if I'm honest only caring about the frosting.. I chose a Neapolitan devil's cake with vanilla and strawberry frosting and a Mexican chocolate cupcake for the road.I then spent almost 10 minutes slowly eating the frosting off the Neapolitan cupcake. The frosting was not too sweet and the strawberry frosting tasted like fresh berries and cream. The cake was tender and slightly bitter, which played off the frosting beautifully. The cake was a perfect size and made me want a cup of black coffee to enjoy alongside. My Mexican cupcake did not fare as well. After a day of getting set down, squished, and hauled all over town, the frosting became brittle and crumbly, the cake dry and hard. The bottom line: you can't delay delight or buy more than you can shovel in during one sitting. The only way to save that poor little cupcake would have been to store it in a plastic clamshell so it stayed protected and moist. Its paper bag home was no match for my clumsiness. More...

WONDERFUL. This is a lovely little place. I picked up four different flavours for my mom's birthday...maple bacon, red velvet, French toast, and PB&J. Sadly, I dropped the box upon getting in my car, ruining the cupcakes! I was distraught. I returned to Happy Cakes with the sad little box and asked if there was anything they could do. Right away the lady behind the counter offered to re-frost them...until she saw the damage. Then she offered to just replace all four cupcakes! It was so nice and more than I expected. As for the cupcakes...I ended up eating the PB&J one and it was absolutely divine. I highly recommend this bakery. We decided to go with mini-cupcakes so we could have a variety of flavors. Working with Happy Cakes was so easy and stress-free. They were beautiful at our wedding and tasted amazing as always. We chose maple bacon as one of our flavors and we couldn't hear the end of it from our guests about how good it was! Everything was a big hit and we weren't surprised. They are the best in town!

Happy Cakes is the best Cupcake Shop in the area!   I knew immediately that Happy Cakes would be my choice for our wedding reception. I met with Karly three times over the course of about 9 months to talk about the cupcakes and our 6" wedding cutting cake. She was always excited to see me and talk about the wedding. I always felt that my day was taken seriously and with great excitement. They helped me calculate numbers of cupcakes, figure out the flavors, and decorate my cake. Karly made sure that I was comfortable with the decisions and the options being presented. They made a special trip to deliver my cupcakes on a Sunday to the reception location! I was thrilled!! Our guests RAVED about the cupcakes! There were no leftovers at all!!I cannot recommend Happy Cakes, Karly, and the staff enough! Take a trip over to Happy Cakes and sample their amazing treats! You will NOT be disappointed!Thank you Happy Cakes!!! More...

Well Happy Cakes certainly earned my business for all of eternity, and the cupcakes being amazing where about the least of what they did. From beginning to end Happy Cakes not only delivered a customer service dream, but also a super positive experience from beginning to end! I called in 3 days prior to my birthday to put in an order for a dozen red velvet cupcakes, of course not a problem and Happy Cake's red velvet is super yummy without being sickeningly sweet. I had one friend who was coming to my birthday party that is suffers with celiac, but I certainly did not want her to miss out on dessert or feel left out. I called around to MULTIPLE bakeries in Denver, and asked if I could do a dozen red velvet and then purchase one gluten free separate. I was repeatedly told that I would have to buy a dozen gluten free if I wanted the one, or that they simply 'would not' do it. Not at Happy Cakes. It was like I had asked for a glass of water it was so simple. When I arrived to pick up the cupcakes I told the girl behind the counter that I had been dying to try the chocolate salted caramel cupcake and that I would like to buy one for the road, she told me not to be silly, wished me a happy birthday and hooked one up. Not only was the cupcake amazing, but such a nice gesture really made my afternoon! I sat and chatted for a bit and when I was ready to head out the same girl offered to cruise up the block with me and help bring my cupcakes to the car, and explained to me what not to do with the cupcakes so that they would be delicious into the evening. Overall it was a lovely experience and last time I checked cupcakes are supposed to make people happy and Happy Cakes certainly delivers on all levels! More...

There are a lot of great cupcake places in Denver these days. Cupcakes are trendy. Cupcakes are cool. I GET IT. So how is a girl ever supposed to decide on the best cupcake? I've thought of some criteria below and as you can see Happy Cakes scores high in them all. -Frosting - I'm a frosting fanatic, if yours isn't good, don't talk to me. Happy Cakes has perfectly sweet frosting in fun flavors. Their cake to frosting ratio is also perfectly balanced -- Quite an important factor for the cupcake connoisseur. - Atmosphere - Every time I walk out of this place I'm wearing a smile. I'm not sure if it's a pre-sugar party smile or if it has something to do with the always happy workers. Happy Cakes is a perfect name for this cute little shop, everyone inside is always smiling!-Flavors - The flavors here are unlike any you will see at your average joe cupcake shop.... I love Cranberry Oatmeal Cream, The Snowball, and the French Toast....But the menu changes daily so you're guaranteed to never get bored.-Alcohol - Friday night happy hour takes on a whole new meaning here. Jack & Coke, Cosmo, and Tequila infused cakes...Do i need to say any more?-Specials - Can you say "$2 Tuesdays"? Good, now go on a Tuesday. Are you driving here yet? If not you should be. More...

Happy Cakes is our personal standard when comparing all other cupcake places in town. Their cupcakes are always moist, they don't bury you in a 50 lb dollop of icing  and I've not yet been disappointed by any flavor there. If I had to say anything negative about this place, it would have to be their location. Sure it gets them more walk-in traffic, but the street parking is often unavailable. More...

I've been treated to Happy Cakes before, but just visited the shop for the first time last week.  The small shop was clean and inviting, but empty on a Tuesday afternoon despite the $2 Tuesday deal.  I chose the COC and Mexican Chocolate and took them home for My Honey to celebrate his birthday.  I left them in the brown bag on the counter top and both were still moist and scrumptious several hours later.  The Mexican Chocolate was definitely the favorite, with hints of cinnamon and cayenne.  Red Velvet was my birthday treat last year and man, was that delicious! This is a great little local place that offers cupcakes, giant cupcakes and full size customizable cakes, and lists daily menu options on their website.  My go-to cupcake joint! On a recent trip to the Denver area, while at Breckenridge BBQ, we were recommended Happy Cakes for our cupcake adventure.  (We must try a cupcake place in every city we visit.) We were not disappointed.  It was fantastic.  I LOVED the carrot cake cuppie. We also tried several others which were all varying degrees of good, but my very favorite was the dirt cake.  So creative, and I'm sure intended for kids with the little gummy worm on top.  But, my favorite none the less.  You won't be sorry if you have a cupcake craving and get your fix at Happy Cakes. I read about Happy Cakes in a magazine article where it mentioned that Martha Stewart was a huge fan of their Cosmo Cupcake.  Now that is quite impressive, so I had to drive there from Highlands Ranch to The Highlands just to try them.  Well, I'm a simple classic professional cupcake checker-outer.  I drove, I parked, I found, I ordered ... then I ate. Vanilla on Vanilla is my fave, so that is always the first one I check out.  Well, it was in fact good.  Dense, made from scratch, icing must be true butter-cream and it was.  The shop is adorable, just too bad for them that there is zero seating inside.  Now outside seating is absolutely gorgeous, granted the day must be nice.  And it is in an historic area where you can enjoy walking and checking out all of the cute shops around this area. Happy Cakes has my heart.. or at least my belly and pocketbook.  Of all the cupcake shops that I've visited, in Denver, I adore Happy Cakes the most for several reasons:  They have a daily rotating selection of cupcakes and the flavors are not only successful but inventive (i.e. Jack & Coke, Chocolate Covered Strawberry); The cupcakes are dense but soft (not too crumbly); The icings are creamy and not too artificial.  I will admit, however, that the service can be uneven because sometimes I get a really sweet and enthusiastic person, while other times I get someone the total opposite--since I'm paying 3+ bucks for a cupcake, service has a big effect on the overall experience.  Secondly, Happy Cakes used to overload on the icing, which of course was too much to enjoy, but it covered the entire cupcake better, and as such, kept the tops much more moist--I miss that. The Good & Bad Rundown:+ $2 Tuesdays (cupcakes are only $2 each!)+ Open Mondays (the best bakery sacrilege ever!)+ Fun, unique flavors+ Classic cupcake flavors+ Moist cakes+ Different treats (e.g. rice krispies, mini cupcakes, doggie cupcakes)+ Gluten-Free cupcakes+ sometimes they have charity-supporting cupcakes- Frosting doesn't cover the entire cupcake top so the tops get dry- kind of pricey- You have to organize your trip so you don't get stuck when they are almost sold out More...

OMG. Last night I died and went to heaven - cupcake heaven!! I did the crazy: I work in DTC, and decided I must ABSOLUTELY have the mystery flavor of the day - lavender. I left work early (3:40) and drove over an hour in traffic and rain and hail to get to my cupcake order before they closed! I ended up with lavender, red velvet and peanut butter banana mini cupcakes (photo) and regular toasted coconut, cookies and cream, cafe mocha (not pictured) and a mutt treat for my grizzbaby. The lavender cupcake was PERFECTION. It had just enough lavender taste and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Same goes with the peanut butter banana. Red velvets have ceased to impress me because they are so commonplace. Everything I had from this bakery just made my taste buds sing sing sing all night long. And my grizzbaby happened to enjoy his biscuit too... and he's a picky eater. :DI realized, however, that parking is really difficult to find in that area.. especially when it was raining yesterday :( my cupcake baggy (and again, why a baggy?! why not a box?!) got a little wet. Another downside to the baggy: the ones inside the bag got smushed and moved around... I didn't understand the use of the baggy. More...

I am planing a summer wedding and want to have cupcakes. I have been to Happy Cakes 4 times in the last 3 weeks because I wanted to try so many different flavors: maple bacon, lime in the coconut, salted caramel, cherry coke, rum and coke, carrot cake, toasted marshmallow, red velvet, pom poms, snicker doodle, mint chocolate, vegan, champagne, mimosa...the list goes on & on & on! They even change their menu on 6/1 to new summer flavors. I was obsessed with trying every flavor but since they won't set up tasting appointments for weddings, you have to drive over to the bakery on each day that they make the certain cupcake flavor that you want to try. They will save certain flavors for you overnight, so you can pick them up the next day. I give this bakery an A+ for creativity, and A+ for frosting (the best I've tried so far) but a "B" for the actual cake. The cake is very dense (which some people prefer) and the majority of the cupcakes were a tad bit dry (even the ones baked that morning). Not all of the cupcakes are filled, but the salted caramel one is and it's wonderful! Having the cupcake filled with caramel makes it taste moister. They gave me 6 free cupcakes for my "tasting" which was nice and the staff was friendly. The batter tastes homemade (not from a mix) and the cupcakes aren't too sugary like some other places. If the cakes were lighter and moister, I would book this place for my wedding in a heartbeat...but 23 Happy Cakes cupcakes later I'm still not completely convinced...I'm going to keep looking for now.UPDATE 10-5-2011:So in the end, I ended up using Happy Cakes only for my VEGAN cupcakes at my wedding.  I had one vegan guest and chose to accommodate her dietary preferences.  She was very happy to have a vegan treat at my wedding. very good cupcake bakery! I had a snickerdoodle cupcake which was fantastic and not too sweet. I also tried the red velvet which was good, but even though I am a huge fan of red velvet, I thought the snickerdoodle was better.  Even just typing the word snickerdoodle makes me crave one.  The only downside I can think of is that their french macaroons, which I usually love, I did not care for.  It was a mixture of weird tasting and an almost off texture for a macaroon...but I would probably still eat them anyway... Happy Cakes definitely has the cute factor when it comes to tiny bake shops. I came around the corner after a venture into West End Books and loved the site of a propped open door with patrons spilling out!  Good sign :)Small shop with no place to sit (spots outside if it's warm). Still you are greeted with stacks of fresh baked cupcakes in a variety of flavors. I didn't go too crazy, tried a black and white (vanilla cream icing was perfection) and a chocolate salted caramel one (which had the sweet salty going on).  The cake was moist and sweet.  The icing was smooth and sweet and had just the right amount to balance out with the cake. Laura at Happy Cakes was wonderful to work with. She customized our cupcakes and was flexible about pick-up times and cupcake flavors. In addition to vanilla on vanilla and cookies and cream (my husband's favorite), we also took advantage of a few of their amazing holiday flavors: eggnog and candy cane. Ok, so I'm a little obsessed with this place. I think the blonde girl who works there recognizes me, which probably isn't a good thing. So the cupcakes here are of a dense variety with a very thick frosting - so if you're looking for something really light and fluffy this probably isn't the place for you. If you're looking for cupcakes of substance, take yourself down here. Hey, if you walk, you can even tell yourself it's healthy. So they have seasonal flavors, as well as a random flavor every Thursday which is usually creative and follow some kind of theme for the month. I had this dream once where the cream soda flavor and I got married. Of the current crop I'd say the best are the chocolate salted caramel, pumpkin, and the coffee/doughnuts. Or get ANYTHING with the cream cheese frosting, which is the awesome. You can also buy the frosting in bulk and put it on your own baked goods if you want to trick your friends into thinking you're some kind of a confectionery wizard. They also make tiny cupcakes for dogs if you want to walk your dog here, then reward them with one for the indignation of being tied to a bench while you go inside.I could go on, but I'd probably look like a crazy person. I LOVE this place!I'm still working/eating my way through cupcakeries in Denver, but this is currently one, if not *the* favorite. This is what I imagine a cupcakery to look like.  It just *feels* like a place where all is well with the world because there are cupcakes looking awesome and yummy and very elegantly presented.  I haven't tried all the flavors yet, and so far I have been disappointed with one (the vegan Shirley Temple), but I consider that a fluke.  ;-)The cupcakes themselves are very tasty and the frosting is sweet without being "I-must-stop-eating-this" sweet.  I only wish there was a Happy Cakes here in Colorado Springs. :-)  *hint hint* More...

I am upgrading Happy Cakes to four stars after a very awesome and successful trip there over the weekend. I think Saturday is the day to go there, they had so many flavors. I got a sweet potato pie, a chocolate salted caramel, and a frosted sugar cookie. Everything was good but the sweet potato was incredible. It had a crust on the bottom and a really delicious, and somehow not too sweet, marshmellow buttercream. The different textures were really complimentary to each other and made it a bit more interesting than your average cupcake. And the cake itself was incredibly moist. The shop is tiny, so there's nowhere to sit and enjoy your cupcakes, but I generally like to take them with me anyway. Good stuff Happy Cakes!! More...

I stopped by here before going to Root Down for dinner. I bought one of each of the following: French Toast CupcakeMaple and Bacon CupcakeCookies & Cream CupcakeVanilla Cupcake TruffleChocolate Cupcake TruffleChocolate Raspberry Cupcake TruffleI really liked the vanilla cupcake truffle. I enjoyed the icing and cake mixed together. The cake was still moist. Of the cupcakes, my favorite was the Cookies and Cream or French Toast. I LOVE the frosting on these cupcakes. Sweet, dense buttercream. That's just the way I like it. The cupcakes could have used MORE frosting though. I have a voucher from Denver Daily Deals for 6 cupcakes, so I'll go back on a different day and try out some other daily flavors. I will also get more of the truffles/cupcake pops. Yum yum! Based on my other cupcake reviews, this place is definitely in the middle of the pack. My favorite place is still Big Fat Cupcake. Nothing has topped it yet... but I still have a ways to go. More...

The best cupcakes to date. Although they are a little pricey as with all cupcake places if you go on Tuesday they have $2 Tuesdays and you can save a little money. I have gotten some dry cupcakes if you go near then end of the week i am not quite sure if they are always baked fresh everyday but i always go on Tuesday when they first open for the week so i know their fresh! I just heard they added Monday to be open for shorter hours. My favorites are the simple Choc on Choc or Black and White. Their chocolate frosting is so fudgy and good. The vanilla is a little too sweet although paired with the chocolate cake evens it out a bit. More...

A wonderful friend of mine opened my eyes to Happy Cakes at an engagement party she had. The gluten-free carrot cake mini-cupcakes were magical! Blossom, if you're wondering where that other dozen disappeared to....Another fantastic friend brought these to a wine bottling party and I once again fell in love, this time with a peanut butter chocolate cupcake, so rich, so creamy, mmmmm. So, when this place popped up as a Groupon, I was ON IT! I picked up my half-dozen this weekend. Gonna have to say that my top two are the VOV (Vanilla on Vanilla) and the Salted Carmel (don't be put off by the name, it is FANTASIC). Really, is there anything better than spending a weekend devouring a box of cupcakes? :)Check this place out! Drop in for a cupcake while wandering Highlands. My only complaint is that there is no parking here. You have to park down the street in that 32nd and Lowell lot, in front of a sign threatening to tow your car if you're not there specifically for the chiropractor, etc. If you can walk or bike here, I'd recommend it. sweet baby jesus these cupcakes are delicious! an assortment was gotten for my birthday and every one that i tasted was so good. the two i ate completely were carrot cake and pear. i was thinking the pear wouldn't be all that great...i was wrong. so i'll admit, i'm not really all that into cupcakes, especially icing. i usually just scrape most of it off because i find it's either hard or gross or overwhelming, but happy cakes has icing i actually like to eat. granted i still leave about half of it because it's freaking straight sugar and no one *needs* that much sugar. Without a doubt everyone loved the cupcakes at the reception. All of our friends and family raved about the cupcakes. Picking the flavors was tough because they have so many yummy options. With a hand full of other cupcake shops this place is pretty good. Cookies and cream was tasty, and I love the heavier frosting along with the red velvet....the best for sure!Prices are a little better than some other places, but the cupcakes are a little smaller. Kind of a bummer though that flavors are only daily. It isn't close enough to my place to head there enough. I would have loved to see more variety in the case. O well, I'll be back for sure. I hate that I love this place soo much. Honestly I can bake just about anything and quite frankly I could bake a ton for what I spend. Even with that I absolutely love this place. The Salted Carmel and my all time favorite and I will be stopping by for many Saturdays to come. The perfect blend of chocolate cake, with Carmel at the bottom and a salty frosting. Unbelievable. This time there were all the flavors to choose from. They told me that they were going to start doing other items  like brownies starting June 1st and they have a new summer time menu.  This will be one of my favorite places this summer I am sure! I kinda hate myself for loving this place, but I do.  I mean, I can bake like a wizard and for the price of one Happy Cakes cupcake, I could bake a dozen, but I digress. The Chai-vanilla cupcake is divine.  Really.  I've tried to make a decent chai cupcake at home, but the flavors are never quite right (I've used dry spices... Chai from Dushanbe... no dice).   They get bonus points for having home-baked dog treats... and their boxes are pretty, but I picked up a red-velvet recently and it was kinda stale... or something.  Dry.  I ate it anyway... as you do. Girlfriend rating: ***** 5 starsMy rating: ***** 5 stars2 reviews for the price of 1 - lucky you.GF: "One of my seventh graders brought Happy Cakes into my classroom for the entire class for her birthday.  It was the best cupcake I had ever had.  So I said to myself, Oh My God!  I need to find this place."Happy Cakes has different flavors every day of the week with regular flavors that stay on their menu.  There is also a mystery flavor once a week to check out.  I am not that much of a regular, but it's a great idea that they do this to keep those taste buds guessing. So, for our selection, we bought a "Six Pack" well, that is what I called it.  One (1) Peanut Butter & Jelly, one (1) French Toast, one (1) Margarita, one (1) Happy Together (Black & White) and two (2) Red Velvet cupcakes.  There were maybe four (4) other flavors that we did not pick up, all looked equally wonderful.  My favorite of our six (6) cupcakes was the Happy Together, which was a blend, but not complete mixture of chocolate and vanilla cake as well as frosting.  My girlfriend's favorite was the Red Velvet cupcake. The shop itself is quite clean.  A glass half window wall on the counter, their cupcakes on cake stands with little descriptive signs, t-shirts and merch for sale, local fliers advertising this and that.  A true local feeling shop selling wonderful and tasty goods. As we were there for 10 minutes, two customers came in to pick up larger orders.  We were not sure what they were picking up, but it must have been something wonderful.I'm sure when I need to buy a plethora of cupcakes, I will be on my happy little way to Happy Cakes to make sure my recipients are delighted.  Also, if I just need a fix, I will be back to see what they have for the week in a cupcake form. Absolutely love and adore this place. The inside of the bakery is utterly adorable. These are the best cupcakes I've had in Denver, hands down. I keep going back. I took my family here in December and everyone in my house raved about them. The cakes are moist and flavorful. There are lots of delicious flavors and on the weekends they try out new flavors. I highly recommend the Red Velvet, if it's in stock. The Jack and Coke is another one not to be missed. It's also great that Happy Cakes regularly stocks minis. First off, I love cupcakes.  I don't care what shape, size, or flavor (well I might draw the line there) I will eat them.I found these cupcakes to be little bundles of heaven! I absolutely loved them.  I ordered the raspberry ganache and red hot velvet cake and they just melted in my mouth! I don't think my husband got more than two bites of each.  Although that is probably his own fault for not fully understanding my affinity for cupcakes.  My mouth is melting right now just thinking of them. Yummy! Before I forget, they have a frequent cupcake card which is a fantastic idea on their part.  When you buy 12 you get one free.  I also found their prices quite reasonable the quality that you receive.  They also have a gluten free option available.  So don't be afraid just go enjoy a little morsel of heaven.  I'll see you there! I tried Happy Cakes last week. I was having a horrible day and took the mini drive uptown and man Im glad I did. Immediately upon walking in my day brightened up. I think the shop is cute ( it could stand to be a little larger, but I think they are moving anyways.) I was delighted with the abundance of flavors I had to choose from. I went in during their 2 year birthday and so they had their vanilla on chocoalate (they called them happy cakes) for $1.00 so i definitely grabbed one of those and a Snowball..... the VOC was good but nothing too special. The Snowball on the other hand.....omg it was like heaven. I took the first bite in my car as I pulled away and was shocked!! It was so moist and almondy and delicious. I will definitely be back to try ALL the other flavors... and just to confirm the other reviews... I was a little disappointed that the cupcake did dry out pretty fast ( I couldnt eat both of them right away), but I guess since you are probably just going to shove it all in your mouth in under 5 minutes anyways...it will be ok ;) More...

I had my heart set on cupcakes for my wedding and Happy Cakes offered me a dozen free cupcakes to try. They were able to decorate a cupcake stand for the cupcakes and they looked great and tasted great. We had a big cupcake to cut and instead of freezing and eating year-old cake we can just go back to Happy Cakes for our first anniversary! The only thing was it was not much of a savings from wedding cake, and I thought the delivery ($100 to Lafayette) and set up ($50) seemed like a lot to me, but to be fair, I did not price the cost of delivery and set up for a wedding cake to feed 150 so I don't want that to negatively effect my review-they delivered it and set it up very nicely, and I could have done it myself but didn't want to worry about it. Cupcakes and only cupcakes! They do one thing and they do it really well. Happy Cakes offers such fun flavors of cupcakes (we had chocolate, snickerdoodle and maple bacon at our wedding), and it creates a special and fun touch. Laura was great to work with - she really listened to what we wanted and was able to meet our needs. Also, they make gluten-free cupcakes! We had four gluten-free guests who were thrilled to be able to eat dessert at a wedding for a change.

The only slight negative would be flexibility. If you order a flavor that's not a flavor of the day, you have to order a minimum number. Also, the colors are pretty limited (but that didn't matter much to me).

Nice job! I would definitely recommend them.

Oh cupcakes how I love you so. I've been dying to find a good place since I moved and I was excited to check this place out. I headed up on a Tuesday, mid morning and despite the drive to get there things started off good. The sales staff were super nice and the space is awesome. I must go exploring around there another day! Anyway, back to cupcakes....I was really excited to try them out, especially after looking over the website and seeing all they have to offer. It was $2 Tuesday which was a bonus, who doesn't love cupcake sales?! I left with a box of 6 to bring back to work and was VERY excited to try my snickerdoodle cupcake. Along with that I had two Vanilla on Vanilla, one happy together, one pineapple upside down and one red velvet. I ate the snickerdoodle one and it was pretty good. The cake itself was a tiny bit dry but the frosting was a perfect balance. The frosting itself was delicious and I'm not typically a frosting person. My boss enjoyed the happy together and the VOV went to a pair of two year olds who happily licked off all the frosting and ate a little cake.So far this is my favorite cupcake place in Denver and I can't wait to go back on Wednesday for Passion Fruit Tart or French Toast, Thursday for the perfect pear and creamsicle, Friday for a cosmo and mojito and Saturday to check out carrot and raspberry lemonade! I am a pervert. I like to watch my husband devour cupcakes with voyeuristic glee. The way his eyelids flutter, his deep-throated moan - I love watching him eat cupcakes as much, if not more, than eating them myself. In the past week, I've been to Happy Cakes twice. I've spent $25 on 11 cupcakes. (The $2 Tuesday deal helped me with this.) I'm planning to go again on Saturday. The Red Velvet was scrumptious with the cream cheese frosting. The Chocolate on Chocolate (CoC) Todd declared to be "the cupcake of his childhood" and his official favorite. I didn't expect to like the Jack & Coke based on previous reviews, but tasted the smooth flavor of the bourbon more than I expected to. The Pom Pom was interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of sugary cereal so will probably give that a pass in the future. The Snickerdoodle cupcake tasted just like a snickerdoodle cookie and is an easy favorite. The peanut butter cup cupcake was pretty good, but something about the frosting didn't hit home for me. The oatmeal butterscotch cupcake was very tasty and far more butterscotchy than oatmealy. In each case, the cake is firm but not dry and the icing is creamy and not too sweet.Saturday I'm going back for the Guinness cupcake and the Maple Bacon cupcake. That's right, two Yelp favorites combined - Cupcakes & Bacon. I'm not sure if I'm excited or scared. My only complaints about this fantastic bakery is that I have hurt myself trying to stretch my mouth big enough to take a bite of the cupcake from top to bottom and that they have too many delicious flavors to tempt me. I appreciate that they specialize in cupcakes. They have multiple sizes, but primarily have a very reasonably sized medium cupcake that I think is "just right." They also have a Papa Bear big cupcake and teensy tiny Baby Bear cupcakes, but they are special order only. I'm impressed that they offer gluten free cupcakes as I have several friends with Celiac disease. Right now they are offering a pretty cool contest. If you enter a new and exciting flavor they decide to make, you can be the new CFO - Chief Flavor Officer! You win 10 cupcakes a week for a year plus a $365 stipend! I hope they pick me! I got my boyfriend a few for his birthday and was bickering with him so he'd share them they were so beautiful!  Red Velvet and French Toast = DeliciousOrange Creamsicle was tasty but not my favoriteI'm still trying to get over there on a Tuesday when they make the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes! I must warn those that do not like "lots" of frosting, these cupcakes come with a large heap on top (which I happen to love)! I'm sure supermarket cupcakes would be cheaper, but Happy Cakes are much more unique! I think you'll probably just have to stop in and try them for yourself to decide. And as an FYI eat them the same day you buy them, they will be completely dried out the next day. More...

Happy Cakes provided a wonderful assortment of cupcakes for our reception. The guests raved about each flavor! My husband and I are already looking forward to our fresh "cake" from there on our 1 year anniversary!

It was a wonderful process of working with them. Tasting their vast selection was my favorite piece of wedding planning! The owners clearly take pride in doing what they do well. If you aren't going to use them for your wedding at least pay them a visit.

I don't understand why this shop has so many bad reviews..  I was skeptical to try this place based on the reviews here, but boy, was I surprised!  I am a little embarrassed to admit that I have had more than my fair share of cupcakes from here and I won't say how many!!!  All were great, specifically,  the mystery berry flavor, chocolate with chocolate frosting and the lemon drop.  AMAZING!!!  The cake was nice and moist and the frosting was delicious. i like to consider myself somewhat of a cupcake connoisseur, and i can honestly say i had the best cupcake in denver yesterday afternoon.  i've been wanting to check this place out for awhile, and i don't understand why this place doesn't have more stars.  i got the "mystery flavor" which was a berry cupcake with cream cheese frosting and strudel topping. this cupcake was so moist and the frosting so good, that i forgot about the 2 parking tickets i had received earlier in the day.  i'm just sad i didn't go back into the store and buy more! Happy Cakes seems to be getting a bad rap here in the yelpasphere. Some don't seem to understand the whole phenomenon or appeal of the national cupcake fad, which arrived in Denver rather late, and still seems to have some legs throughout the country. This is an indulgence of discretionary income of $3, less than a serving of latte, gelato, froyo, etc. COME ON, I don't see too many reviews from folks saying X coffee shop's or Y ice cream parlour's product should not cost $4! YO, don't go if u don't want to pay. These are small batch products, handmade, and they have to make rent selling them. This should not be equated to picking up a plastic box of a half-dozen at Soopers or even WFM for about the same price. And no,  I'm NOT going to bake my own even though it's easy. I'm not going to make tiny batches of several unique/unusual flavors, or eat a dozen cupcakes in 3 days since I made so many, and I'm not going to spend my weekend in the kitchen. Whole point of it is that SOMEONE ELSE made it FOR me, designed the flavors and all I have to do is enjoy it.Yes, their "regular" cupcakes seem to be a little smaller than some, but again price and size are not really issues with the cupcake fad; they're pretty much in line with most fancy cupcakes bakeries. (And from some of the reviews, it seems possibly that consistency may be an issue here, so I'll update after later visits if I find any of the other mentioned issues.)Well enough of me ranting on the peoples reviewing the gourmet cupcake fad and not the actual business  - Based on the 4 cupcakes I took home from Happy Cakes this Saturday, they're doing a pretty decent job. The store is small, but attractive and the cupcake nicely displayed for view, not in any case. I was a bit disappointed that it's basically just a take-out operation, as there's not even a few chairs for instant sugar/carb gratification, and they don't serve coffee/tea/drinks, etc.. But there's plenty of other coffee joints in the Highlands to take your stash to enjoy. The 4 tried:1. Raspberry Lemonade - I really enjoyed the moist lemon cake and smooth raspberry frosting combo; this is a less cloying flavor with a nice bit of tartness - a refreshing change from the mainstay vanilla/choco/cream cheese flavored cupcakes/frosting.2. Red Velvet - this one was just okay, had better. Only one I purchase that was on the dry side.3. Snowball - Coconut cupcake with almond flavor in cake and frosting, but a little faint for me to notice much. Still moist and tasty4. S'more - a chocolate cupcake with a graham crackers inside &  marshmallow buttercream topped with a toasted marshmallow. This cupcake was ok, but maybe I'm just not a big smores fan. Seems like on a cupcake, the flavors didn't all come thru strong enoughSummary - they make some nice cupcakes. I like their cakes, which were mostly moist, denser than some. Also the frostings are quite smooth and delicious. And the woman that helped us was helpful and friendly. I'll be back to try some basic and along with the more unique flavors. More...

I have had dozens of cupcakes from this shop since they opened and I have to say that they hands down make THE BEST CUPCAKE IN DENVER! These are not the cupcakes your mom used to bake, you know the ones from the box. These are over the top delicious cupcakes. More...

Delicious. The cupcake was moist and chocolatey but not to dense.  The vanilla frosting was smooth and delicious without being grainy.  We noted that the cupcakes seemed small upon first glance, but they were so big on flavor that the size was perfect for such a rich treat.  Besides, they were probably the same size pans we used for cupcakes as kids, before cupcakes became obscenely huge.  Prices were steep, but they treats seemed homemade with quality ingredients.  Plus, if I lived nearby, the price might be the only thing protecting me from a spare tire from daily cupcake pigouts. The staff were friendly to us and answered all of our questions about the flavors. More...

I don't tend to quote Rachel Ray, but when it comes to Happy Cakes...Yummo!  We just recently moved to The Highlands area and have become obsessed with Happy Cakes delicious little treats!  Like one of the other readers, I have tried Sprinkles in LA and Magnolia in New York City, and frankly, both times I couldn't wait to get back to Denver to have another bite of a Happy Cake.If you havne't tried one yet - hop in your car now.  Its totally worth every penny!  My favorite so far are the French Toast and the Passion Fruit Tart.  :) More...

Expensive cupcakes, but they were really good.  I had a candy cane (peppermint maybe?) one around Christmas time and it was delicious.  My girlfriend says there is too much frosting.  Whenever I pass by, I'm tempted to stop in.  Man, it takes a lot of will power to spending mucho bucks here.  The store is a great addition to 32nd St and the Highlands area. I was so excited when I read the article to learn that we had finally gotten our own cupcake place. I finally got to check out Magnolia Bakery recently and I think I liked these cupcakes even more. The cupcakes were amazing. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I tried the chocolate, the vanilla and the carrot cake. The chocolate was my favorite. It did have a LOT of frosting, but in my opinion there is never too much frosting. And it wasn't too sugary. The cake parts were all very moist, which can often be the killer in a cupcake. The guy waiting on customers was so excited to have us. He asked if I lived in the Highlands and how I heard about them. Loved it! More...
