Do not use this trader. Having taken a 4 figure deposit from us for landscaping, the contracted work has not even begun (over a month since the contacted start date) and no monies returned. We negotiated a later start date to support the trader but he is now refusing to respond with us via phone or email and won't return our deposit or give us a start date. He seemed a nice person, but clearly not trustworthy. More...

To be completely honest I’m one of those people that tends to watch the work progress and ‘stick my nose in’ as they say. I was so pleased that Ollie & Joe encouraged this and gave me the involvement I felt was detrimental to getting the project done right . Not through lack of trust but the fact I am a bit of a perfectionist and like to ensure any tradesman uses the correct processes. Unlike say decorating, when you use a gardening contractor, what really matters is what it looks like after a few seasons, not just immediately after the job is finished.
Last year we used Hanntons to do a few improvements we had in mind for our garden, and the initial apperance was as we had specified.
However the cracks are now showing. Uneven turf and paving slabs that will need to be put right this autumn. It points to poor preparation and groundwork.
We definitely won't be using Hanntons for the next round of work.

Ollie and his team did a job for us earlier in the year and from past bad experiences with tradesman we had the usual concerns. From the minute Hantons promptly responded to our email, right through to completion they were so helpful and a great bunch to have worked alongside. We have just what we wanted and although slightly over budget, the end result was far worth it and in excess of our expectations. The grand kids love it especially and we are now able to utilise all the best areas of our garden. Many of my friends and close family have since been in touch with Ollie and his team and have shared with me the same great feedback. Work eventually done to an acceptable standard, but poor timekeeping and communications.
The work that Oliver and Tom did was pretty straightforward, tidying up and removal of rubbish, relaying existing slabs, some replanting and new planting.
Nothing complicated or needing any creative skill.
The work was eventually done to an acceptable standard after we discussed some of our concerns with them.
However the timekeeping, and communication was not great. Hence 3 starts rather than 4.

I recently had my gutters facias and soffits cleaned by the lads. What a job. It's now looking like new no more water flowing over the gutter when it rains. I was ripped off by someone with my garden, so was very weary, l saw there add and thought l would give them a go. I am so glad l did, they were 2 of the most caring and well mannered lads and l was not ripped off which gave me hope again that the rotten ones are few and far between. They knew l didn't know anything about measurements etc and they were so willing to help for free. They came to my rescue 3 times to help me out. A couple of summers ago my garden was in need of a lot of TLC. Over grown and out of control and I had invited friends over for a last minute weekend BBQ!
