Hannah was able to capture beautiful family moments that I did not even know were happening! As a mom, I am always trying to take candid pictures of my daughter. But wow, is it tricky! However, Hannah was able to photograph all the cuteness of my baby, that I never could! In fact, my daughter had been crying during the shoot (shoes are terrible, I guess...) and you wouldn't even know it with how the pictures turned out! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I think the secret to taking a great photo is more than just having a professional camera and lens. Photography really is a form of art, and it requires understanding lighting, angles, composition, color theory, having patience and an eye for detail, and a lot of creativity! I have invested significant time and money into my photography education, experience, and equipment, and it's those three factors combined that make me a great photographer.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I always ask my clients to tell me about their product and their business, to get an idea of what they want their brand photos to convey to their customers. I also ask a lot of questions that pertain to the specific details of planning a client's brand photo shoot, such as whether they only want product detail shots or also lifestyle images with models, how many images they need, what location they are interested in for their shoot, what props they may request to be used in their brand photos, etc. I always want to find out exactly what my clients expectations are for their brand photos so that I can deliver just what they're looking for.
What do you love most about your job?
When you’re a business owner, the visual content you post on your social media and website shares the story of your brand with your customers. I’ve always felt that I was meant to be a storyteller, and nothing makes me happier than helping business owners tell their brand's story through beautiful professional photography!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always had an entrepreneurial streak in me, and starting my own business someday was a dream of mine that felt like more of a real possibility when I took an entrepreneurship class in college. I'm creative, driven and ambitious, and I was excited by the challenge of building a business all on my own, as well as excited about the flexibility and freedom that owning my own business could bring instead of working for someone else from 9-5. Being a business owner has been harder than I ever expected it to be, but when I start something that I'm passionate about, I don't like to quit, so I have continued to stick with it through all the ups and downs of growing a small business, and I'm really proud of how far my business has come and how I've grown as a person since I started.
