I had a wonderful experience with Hand Therapy NYC! Every single person on their staff is friendly, kind, and helpful, and their facilities are clean and welcoming. I worked predominantly with Nicole, who was encouraging and supportive throughout. Crazy enough to say--I am actually sad to not see her and the rest of the team regularly now that I have finished treatment! Highly recommend working with them. More...

I had my first session today with Preston. Informative, very comprehensive in review of exercises and pleasant to boot. The receptionist whom I feel awful for not remembering the name of, was just a great. Five star review well earned!

Hand Therapy NYC is an absolutely wonderful place to get help when you have suffered an injury to your arm and/or hand.  I broke my arm in February, 2018 and was a little concerned about the physical therapy I knew I would have to have.  My concerns were allayed on my first visit with Nicole, who is excellent--professional, knowledgeable, friendly, easy-to-be-with and very reassuring about your progress.  She said, 'We work up to the pain, we don't work through it.'  I was terribly relieved!  Because of complications in my hand and 2 more operations, my treatment lasted about 14 months, so it was substantial.  However, spending the time with Nicole and the rest of the staff at Hand Therapy NYC made it all enjoyable.  Michele has a great group of people--this is one of those places that really 'works'!  Whoever is reading this, I'm sorry you've had an injury but get yourself to 89 Fifth Ave. asap and you'll be happy you saw this review! Words can’t describe the gratitude I have for Nicole Pizzolato over at Hand Therapy NYC. I am a 34-year-old pianist who has struggled with a right hand/upper shoulder nerve problem for the past 17 years. At the age of 17 I had the misfortune of being taught a piano technique that subjected my right hand and by connection my shoulder, to a completely unnatural position. The end result was a muscle imbalance in both my hand and shoulder areas, along with a mild but continuously bothersome pinching of the median nerve in my hand. The muscle imbalances caused the frustrating sensation that the knuckles of my thumb, index and pinky fingers had literally moved places, and it goes without saying that as a pianist I felt that I had lost normal functioning of the fine-motor capabilities of my hand. I had been to many doctors and physical therapists over the years, most of which either told me that I had no problem, or that I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life. Even my own piano teachers didn’t believe I had a problem, since I had no severe pain, but would then complain when my performances weren’t “up to par.” As a result, I was relegated to a way of living which consisted of basically just “dealing with it.”Nicole understood my problem from Day 1. Through her deep knowledge and expertise (which feels like they are way beyond her years!), she was able to discern the exact nature of my problem. We began with Astym twice a week (this stuff works!), along with a set of specific exercises targeting all the right muscle groups both in the shoulder as well as hand areas, in order to restore the much needed balance and proper functioning of my hand. The nerve issue would of course complicate things during the rehabilitation process. But Nicole kept guiding me through the thin and thick of it all, expertly knowing when to ease and when to push ahead. The result is that now I am mostly problem-free, and my hand structure has regained its feeling of normalcy and proper function at the keyboard. If I occasionally encounter any mild nerve issues I know exactly how to deal with them, since through my time with Nicole I gained all the necessary knowledge and tools on how to pace myself and what to do when things get tough. In my eyes, Nicole performed a miracle for me!I would recommend working with Nicole for any hand or shoulder issue one suffers from. She is a consummate professional, a great listener, a caring individual, and I feel privileged to have had the chance to work with her. More...

I received care at Hand Therapy after breaking my wrist and having surgery. I continued after a second surgery for a total of several months. My wrist and hand mobility improved greatly and I have continued with the exercises they recommended. This is a serene, friendly office with excellent therapists--and front-desk workers as well. I worked mainly with Michele and Nicole, whose expertise and concern were greatly reassuring. More...

I've been to several hand therapy providers the past few years and I am so happy to have found this one. Unlike large centers where you timeshare your hour with 3-4 other patients, here you get personalized 1-on-1 treatment from friendly and knowledgeable therapists (Michelle and Nicole are terrific! ). The location is easily accessible by public transportation even for NJ-ites. The office itself is clean and modern. The equipment is all new and state of the art. And an important consideration for me is that they accept Medicare (along with other insurers). Bottom line: if you want personalized therapy from top-notch therapists, this is the place to go. There isn't much to add to all the excellent reviews.  Michele and Nicole are both experts at hand/elbow/shoulder therapy.   They are on Fifth Avenue between 16th and 17th Streets.  I had surgery for arthritis of the thumb and was referred by my surgeon's office.  Have now "graduated" after 6 weeks.  Sophia, the receptionist, is also very friendly and efficient. My hand surgeon recommended Hand Surgery NYC for occupational therapy after trigger finger surgery on two of my fingers of my right hand. I was very pleased to find that the office was aesthetically designed and very sanitary. The sessions were a full 45 minutes.  For the first visit the therapist did a thorough evaluation of my condition, described her plan of treatment and the desired goal. My fingers are steadily improving in both flexibility and strength. I can recommend Hand TherapyNYC without reservation. More...

No one wants a hand injury. They are no fun. But the cure doesn't have to be as miserable as the injury...and it isn't when you go to Hand Therapy, NYC. Every member of the staff, from the receptionists to the therapists, is an absolute delight--warm, friendly, humorous, and knowledgeable. From the decor to the atmosphere of the place, you feel welcomed, warm, and in good hands. But, of course, the best is the therapists. Every client receives the undivided attention of the therapists: Michele Pasqualetto and Nicole Pizzolato. They are both gentle and knowledgeable and make the time, the exercises, the therapy, pass pleasantly. You're getting better and laughing at the same time. What could be better? I want very much to have my injuries healed, but I will absolutely miss this place when I no longer need hand therapy. Thank you, all of you, for the attention and professionalism and dedication. Laser therapy is the non-invasive use of laser energy to generate a photochemical response in damaged or dysfunctional tissue. Laser therapy can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery from a wide range of acute and chronic clinical conditions. As rehabilitation specialists know, the main goal of treatment for many when treating painful, debilitating conditions is to facilitate improved function and mobility. Laser therapy is a drug-free, surgery-free technique to help make that goal a reality.

Cleared by the FDA in 2003, Class IV Laser laser therapy has become standard of care for many musculoskeletal injuries. Many clinicians are confidently incorporating laser therapy programs into their practices due to the growing body of literature supporting the efficacy of laser therapy as a modality to reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery. Laser therapy technology has been recently endorsed by professional organizations such as the APTA, WHO and IASP.
