Final visit, as yet another long-standing Asheville restaurant loses its soul to the tourist economy. Pad Se Ewe came out with no sauce. My two guests received dishes that did not match requests. Waving, calling out to the one waiter handling the whole restaurant finally got us some lime and a side of Chil 20 mins after plates were dropped. Only one visit to the table from waiter during whole stay, and that required me to physically stand and wave my arms at him.

I would love to see a chunk of fish in my sushi not something that looks like it came from a can canned. Like my spicy tuna looked. Got a box lunch as well salad was good!! But i had half a cup of the sweet teriyaki on the vegetables under my chicken, make it not edible in my book too sweet. Not badly price at all though for lunch. It was good not great.

Oooooh boy. Let’s start at the beginning.

I was strolling downtown Asheville looking for someplace to eat. Walked past this place and man, I should have kept walking.

I walked into the place around 5:50pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty much empty. Not really surprising since it was so early. Was greeted promptly and per usual I sat at the bar. There was a gentleman behind the bar who I assume was the manager and one server on the floor. I take a corner spot and receive my menu and tell the server I wanted a dirty vodka martini. Then I sat while he looked after two new tables. While I’m sitting there and he’s tied up at tables, the manager is on his phone doing god knows what. Their server called for the cocktail to the manager and he acknowledged the order but never started making it. So I’m sitting there just watching him and eventually he looks up And catches eyes with me and says can I get you something? I said yeah, that drink he just called or a water or something. Anything. For goodness sake no one is in here why am I sitting here not being attended to?

So he shakes up the martini and pours it into the glass and no joke garnishes a dirty martini with a lime, maraschino cherry, and a bunch of olives. *face palm* it’s not a piña colada buddy, come on....I take this as a guy just trying to make it look nice, I guess. So I wait for the server to come over and I ask for one of the order sheets bc the bar wasn’t set up for service. No menus, no silverware, no drink menu, no soy sauce, no soy sauce container...he informs me that he can order properly by writing it down. Order comes out wrong. Surprise. The confusion surrounding sashimi and sushi can be prevalent when someone is new to sushi. As a former server and sushi chef, I totally get it. I just asked for the order to be corrected and it was quickly.

Let me be clear, the sushi was great. Rice wasn’t under or over cooked. It was presented beautifully and the fish was fresh and I enjoyed everything I had. The failing was in part of the manager to me and I’ll get back to that in a second. Once everything was said and done I put up my credit card bc I was ready to bust off that place. The check comes and the check is incorrect reflecting the servers mistake. I glance back and the manager is eating dinner at the sushi bar at 6:10 during service while he clearly has a server struggling. Dude get up, check this guy, help him out, and try to teach him how to do things properly. I can hear the manager telling the guy he isn’t focused. I’m like, No! You are the one who is distracted. I pay the check, leave the server 18% and while walking out the manager said sorry, he is new. It took all my strength not to say, so if you know he’s new, why aren’t you helping him?

I have been a chef for ten years and worked as a server for 6 before that. I was wanting to hell the server out but it was not my place to try to train him. Unacceptable. 2/5 bc the sushi was legitimately good. 2/5 bc the manager needs to be managed. I was one person. I can’t imagine what a table of ten would go through in this place.

Our service, atmosphere, wine and food were top notch! My favorite rolls were Perfect Match, Rock N’, Angry Dragon and Philadelphia. We loved everything we ordered.

Udon chicken yaki noodles are top notch. Sushi rolls - if you keep it simple like me - spicy tuna and Philadelphia -- are top notch! Prices are very affordable for downtown area too! We also tried some sake - which was really smooth! Our waitress was new but was very helpful and attentive...would definitely come back here.

Although they have no problem with sandals and jeans, expect more than your ordinary Tokyo Express type of spot. The lunch menu is very affordable and in typical Asheville style, the portions were huge. The presentation of the food was beautiful and looked as if we needed to be more fancy. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. It is well worth stopping in.

My favorite sushi spot in Asheville! Our waitress, Star, was super nice and accommodating. She was helpful and genuine. My boyfriend and I loved every single item we ordered. The tuna tartare and various sushi rolls were amazing. The hot sake was smooth, and my boyfriend ordered hibachi and was blown away. This is our new spot hands down.

Hubby and I stopped by on Valentine's night around 8p. We got a seat immediately at the bar and didn't wait much longer for the waitress to help us with making our selection. We explained that we wanted their craziest, most over the top roll. She suggested two and that's what we went with - Mini Volcano and Godzilla.

We so enjoyed the atmosphere and time to talk while waiting for our food. It was fun to watch the sushi chefs at work. And there were a few TVs which added to the casual feel we wanted.

When our plate came out I couldn’t believe how beautifully it was plated! Next to our two rolls was a champagne glass overflowing with spirilized jicama - so pretty! And our sushi was artfully drizzled with an awesome amount of sauces.

I knew I’d like Godzilla because I prefer tempura sushi. But I couldn’t believe how much I LOVED Mini Volcano, too! Seriously, this is the best sushi we’ve found since leaving Vegas.

Our waitress was great - she was around when we needed her and left us alone when we just needed to stuff our faces. She was also fast with the check which I appreciate.

We just got a Biltmore Season Pass and plan on coming back to Asheville soon. We will definitely return here and we will definitely order these rolls again!

Great food here! Hibachi is really nice and things usually come out really quickly. There is some nice seating next to the large glass window with some cycling RGB lights. Definitely a good spot to have a lunch or dinner.

Sat at the bar for over an hour. Received nothing but water. I have personally been to this place several times and have never received this terrible of service. Eventually after an hour of waiting I was told my meal was given to another person and mine would require additional time. I also hear waitresses criticizing other people’s tips as I sat at the bar, I will hands down never come back to this place.

Best sushi in town! I’ve had sushi at all the other places and I’m never disappointed with Hanas. Service is always excellent and the food is always supreme! As a resident of Asheville for quite some time I always recommend Hana’s for sushi I anyone who asks!

This place is just ok. I got a special and it honestly just wasn't that great. It had almost no flavor. The rainbow roll I ordered was good though. The thing that bothered ,e the most about this place was the metal chopsticks. I couldn't hold them, they were just too smooth and slippery

Had hibachi steak and chicken for lunch. Didn't like dressing was already on salad. Soup was tasty. There were 4 steak medallions and 4 chicken medallions on plate. For price, felt there should have been a little more. Overall quality was good. Seemed to be confusion about who was our server.. Not sure if they were short staffed?

This is the best sushi I've ever had. It's located right in the heart of downtown next to the Vance monument which is walking distance to anywhere you wanna be. We came for lunch and you can't beat the price. A free soda and roll combo filled me up all day!! I can't wait to visit again. Wait staff and management greetings when you walk in and leave makes you feel comfortable. 11/10 recommend!!!
