We are not people who have professional photographs done (“why else do we own a camera?” says husband), but have suffered from "one parent/two kids" in all our photos for too long. We were pleasantly surprised by our first ever professional session. Dawn came very prepared with numerous props and ideas to assist with natural vs. forced smiles, and provided a beautiful outdoor setting to set the scene(s). She made us feel very comfortable during our family photo shoot, and even got our recalcitrant 8-year old to participate with smiles (not always an easy task, let me tell you)! Dawn was referred to me by a mutual friend in the Sewickley area. She was hired to take headshots of business staff for an updated website. She was very patient with me as scheduling 8 individuals in 2 days was no easy task. Her work is professional and her love for what she does is very evident. Dawn is a genius! Do you have one of those kids who likes to make funny faces at the camera or won’t look at the camera at all? Well, my daughter is one of those kids. Dawn had her hands full and I have no idea how she did it (patience, luck, timing) but she captured the most amazing shots of my beautiful girl! We booked a session with Dawn to have photos taken for Kate’s first communion. Our church does not like photos to be taken during the service so Dawn was able to book time for a shoot one afternoon after school. We now have the most beautiful, keep-sake photos of this sacred event. Dawn did a great job of getting my boys to laugh and getting "that shot," right at the perfect moment. Anyone out there raising teen boys? Then you know what I'm saying. They complain and drag their feet about even having their pics taken, let alone willingly agree to smile and seem cooperative. Dawn has the perfect personality to crack through that tough exterior. This was our 3rd session with Dawn from Gypsy Souls Photography. She was creative and completely understood what I wanted out of our photo sessions. We did a maternity session, newborn session and a family session. Each session came back with at least 50 pictures to choose from. The longest I had to wait to get pictures back was 2 days and they were all edited. It was incredibly fast and exciting to see so many perfect pictures. She gave us all the pictures so we could have as many printed as we would like. I will never use another photographer. We will be booking a fall session. More...
