I was very pleasantly surprised when my 8 year old son came home after his first lesson and told me he was learning Back in Black by AC/DC - perfect! 🙂 It is now almost 2 years later and my son is still really enjoying playing guitar (he's now studying Grade 2). Pete is absolutely fantastic, not only is he an amazingly patient teacher and a tremendous musician, he is also a powerhouse of musical knowledge. My daughter has been going to Pete for over a year now and she has gone from strength to strength with her guitar. Classes are really well structured and fun, and Pete always covers a wide range of topics including music theory, music history, and practical styles, techniques and genres. Classes are followed by an email summarising that weeks lesson, homework for next lesson and any resources that may be helpful. I find these incredibly helpful. My daughter attended Pete's 3 day 11+ workshop during the May half term. I was a little apprehensive about telling my daughter I had booked her in for a 3 day workshop during her half term! I can honestly say I was shocked at how much she enjoyed the sessions and how enthusiastic she was about attending! My 9 year old daughter LOVES her guitar lessons. She always comes bounding out of full of what she has learnt that week. I’m so grateful for the first lesson from Peter which was my first step on the road to learning to play the guitar. I have tried many instruments and have generally fallen out of love as quickly as I fell in. But Peter's teaching style, musical knowledge and love for music, meant I was engaged from the start. His teaching me how to position my body to be comfortable with the guitar was essential and intuitive. After only 6 lessons, we are amazed at how quickly our 7 year old son has gone from nearly breaking the guitar strings, to playing something that resembles music.
